Family-run Christmas stores stay afloat and festive all year round

For retailers everywhere, the Christmas period is usually their most profitable time of the year. But there are some stores that manage to sell Christmas all year round.

00:09One of the oldest family-run Christmas stores in Sydney

00:12has kept its doors open in the city's southwest

00:15for nearly 30 years.

00:17We were in Lebanon in the Middle East

00:19just before we started this

00:21and we saw a lot of decorations that they had

00:23that we didn't have in Australia

00:25and they had access to a lot more.

00:27So we thought Australia should have them more.

00:29Some items attract collectors from across the country.

00:33It's a whole atmosphere that comes along with it

00:36which I think you can't get online.

00:39Customers old and young getting their homes ready

00:42for the holiday season.

00:43I could spend hours here just browsing.

00:46This is our first time hosting Christmas

00:48so I have a lot of shopping to do.

00:50I'm the only one in my family that does everything.

00:52You could spend a lot of money.

00:54Christmas is just one day

00:56but shops like these are open year round.

00:59It means owners have to get creative

01:03Our only constant here is change.

01:23We do work 12 months of the year.

01:25Selling LED lights has also helped keep the Christmas wonderland

01:31We had the Indians that came for Duvali

01:34and the Muslims were coming for Ramadan

01:36so everybody was coming in.

01:37So even though it's a Christmas shop,

01:39everyone needs lights.

01:40Decorations slaying past the end of the year.
