00:00 Ah, well, I like to have it up definitely by the 1st of December.
00:04 Christmas is just six weeks away, and with Halloween and Bonfire Night behind us,
00:09 you may have noticed the rapid switch to festive decorations in stores around Manchester.
00:15 Our famous Christmas markets are due to open on the 10th of November,
00:19 and are currently being set up along the city centre streets in preparation for visitors from
00:24 all over the country. Although some people might be excited about the festive season,
00:29 and eager to get involved with all things Christmas, others may feel it's a little too
00:33 soon to set up the decorations. We asked people in Manchester when they put up their tree,
00:39 and when is an appropriate time to listen to some Christmas music.
00:42 Just like to like it to be up in the house feel Christmasy for December really.
00:47 And also we spend New Year in Portugal, we have a house in Portugal,
00:52 so we leave the UK on the 27th, so it's nice to have Christmas decorations up for 20 odd days.
01:01 I'd actually put it up a little bit earlier to be quite honest.
01:03 We've just become grandparents this year, so I think because of that I'd probably
01:09 put it up a bit earlier. I have to hold her back.
01:12 Oh, I think the beginning of December. I don't know, I think it's a nice way to begin.
01:18 You listen to Christmas music, you put up a Christmas tree and there you are ready for
01:24 Christmas. Now shops try to sell you Christmas as early as October, and I think at one point if you
01:30 really want to enjoy it, you can't have too much of it, right? I mean it's got to stay something
01:34 unique for the year. Well that's an argument at our house, because my husband would put it up on
01:39 about sort of the 20th of December. I like to put it up a bit earlier now, first week of December.
01:45 I put my Christmas tree up as late as possible. Normally it's not something I prepare for a lot.
01:51 I do really enjoy Christmas, but it's normally a bit of a last minute job for me. November's
01:54 definitely too soon to put up Christmas decorations in my opinion. I think sort of like
01:58 early to mid-December's okay, but for me it's normally around the 15th or something that I go.
02:03 We probably do it earlier than that, around about November time. Yeah, because we want to make the
02:07 most of the time and we get family visiting us and that sort of thing, so it's always nice to
02:12 have the Christmas tree up and the decorations. It's unavoidable listening to Christmas music
02:16 throughout sort of November and December, because it's absolutely everywhere, adverts and shops and
02:20 things like that. I wouldn't be putting any on until the actual Christmas period itself starts.
02:24 Maybe you've finished work for the holidays and things like that. Fair play, everyone can just
02:27 listen to it whenever they fancy it. My favourite time to listen to Christmas music, probably from
02:32 mid-November I would say. Any earlier than that it's just, it's not the season, but from mid-November
02:39 onwards I think that's reasonable. I don't particularly listen to Christmas music. I listen
02:43 to smooth radio sometimes and that'll play Christmas things, but I don't particularly,
02:48 deliberately listen to Christmas music. Well it's in the shops now basically, isn't it? You know,
02:52 you've got in the shops middle of November I'd say. I think it's a little bit early now. I'm more
02:57 of a first of December man on all these things. I think anything in November is just a little bit
03:03 too early. First of December I can accept. I think Christmas is lovely, but it can go on and on too
03:10 long really, and I think to get the full atmosphere, you know, do limit it to a month. I think that's
03:15 about maximum really. So beginning of December.
