Transcript
00:00Ariana Grande spoke out against body shamers in a rare and candid TikTok to set the record
00:06straight about how she feels about recent comments from people who were, quote, concerned about her
00:11body. She said, I don't do this often. I don't like it. I'm not good at it. But I just wanted
00:16to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person
00:20with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to. I think we should be gentler
00:26and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies no matter what. Ariana added that even
00:31if someone's comments might be, quote, well-intentioned, in her opinion, it would be best not to comment
00:36at all, saying if you think you're saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever
00:40it is, healthy or unhealthy, big or small, this or that, sexy or not sexy, we should really
00:46work towards not doing that as much. There are ways to compliment someone or to ignore
00:51something you see that you don't like. I think we should help each other work towards just
00:55being safer and keeping each other safer. In the nearly 4 minute long video, the Grammy
01:00award winner revealed that although some people thought that she was, quote, healthy in the
01:05past, she had actually been in the, quote, lowest point of her life. Ariana continued,
01:11I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point
01:16of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn't my healthy.
01:21Finally, Ariana concluded her message by sending love to her 30.4 million followers and called
01:27them beautiful in the process.
