Cruz shares gold with Malaysian gymnast in vault apparatus  Filipino gymnast John Ivan Cruz claims the vault apparatus gold medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Dec. 12, 2025. After a plea for recomputation of scores, Cruz, who was initially adjudged as silver medalist, emerged as co-champion with Malaysian Muhammad Sharul Aimy with identical average of 13.833 points. Thailand’s Tikumporn Surintorta finished with a bronze medal, scoring 13.717 points.  Cruz gave the Philippines its eighth overall gold medal in this meet, and raised his personal SEA Games gold haul to two after winning the floor exercise in Cambodia two years ago.   VIDEO BY NIEL V.
