00:00Now, Thailand has also dissolved parliament and will hold a general election within the next two months.
00:06The move comes as Prime Minister Anutin Chan-Virakul's minority government
00:10faces an imminent no-confidence vote just three months after taking office.
00:17Anutin said dissolving parliament was necessary to return political power to the people,
00:23citing border violence, political instability and the government's inability to govern effectively as a minority.
00:29The dissolution comes after nearly a week of fresh clashes along the Cambodian-Thai border.
00:35Anutin said the government had exhausted all administrative options
00:38but lacked the stability required to address multiple crises.
00:42Anutin, leader of the Bum Jai Thai Party, had previously pledged to dissolve parliament by the end of January.
00:48But he brought the election forward as his government lost the support of the Progressive People's Party,
00:54the largest party in parliament.
00:55With parliament now dissolved, Thailand is expected to head to the polls within 45 to 60 days.
