Albay govt orders enforcement of 6-kilometer danger zone as Mayon acts up

Albay Gov. Noel E. Rosal orders the strict implementation of a ban on activities within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) following the formation of a lava dome within the crater of Mayon Volcano.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that photographs of the volcano's summit taken from Dec. 8 to 10, 2025 showed new and shallow magma, leading to increased rockfall from 3 to 16 per day in Dec. 2025. 

The public is reminded that Alert Level 1 remains over Mayon and no entry within the 6-kilometer PDZ is enforced.
