A senior FBI official sparked a heated political clash on Capitol Hill after declaring that Antifa is the “biggest domestic terrorism threat” facing the United States. Testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee, Michael Glasheen, operations director of the FBI’s National Security Branch, called the far-left movement the agency’s “primary concern” and “the most immediate violent threat.”
00:00America is once again a symbol of global strength.
00:04But you have systematically dismounted the Department of Homeland Security,
00:09put your own interests above the department and violated the law.
00:13You are making America less safe.
00:17So rather than sitting here and wasting your time and ours with more corruption, lies and lawlessness,
00:26I call on you to resign.
00:29Do a real service to the country and just resign.
00:34That is, if President Trump doesn't fire you first.
00:39I yield back.
00:41Under President Trump's leadership, DHS is securing our borders.
00:45We're restoring the rule of law and we're protecting the homeland.
00:48DHS is eradicating transnational organized crime and the stopping of deadly drugs
00:53from continuing to be funneled into our communities.
00:56We're ending illegal immigration, returning sanity back to our immigration system,
01:00and we're defending against cyber attacks against our critical infrastructure.
01:04We have sent a strong message to criminal illegal aliens that we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you.
01:12Under President Trump's leadership, we will continue to protect American interests and bolster American economic power and technological innovation to further growth and prosperity.
01:21The American people depend on the Department of Homeland Security to remain vigilant, agile and responsive.
01:28We will never yield, we will never waver, and we will never back down.
01:32Thank you for the privilege to be with you today, Mr. Chairman.
01:35Representing the people of the United States, the FBI who tackle the complex and grave threats.
01:39Any domestic terrorist organization that poses a threat to the homeland as we speak?
01:47I'd say the first one, you know, President Trump had just announced Executive Board of the Domestic Terrorist Organization, Antifa.
01:54That's our primary concern right now.
01:58All right, that's what President Trump did.
02:00What did the FBI say?
02:03We share the same view.
02:04When you look at the data right now, you look at the domestic terrorist threat that we're facing,
02:09Right now, what I see from my position is that's the most immediate violent threat that we're facing on the domestic side.
02:18So where is Antifa headquarters?
02:24What we're doing right now with the organization...
02:26Where in the United States does Antifa exist?
02:32If it's a terrorist organization and you've identified it as number one.
02:37We are building out the infrastructure right now.
02:40So what does that mean?
02:42I'm just...
02:45We're trying to get the information.
02:46You said Antifa is a terrorist organization.
02:50Tell us as a committee, how did you come to that?
02:54Where do they exist?
02:56How many members do they have in the United States as of right now?
03:00Well, that's very fluid.
03:02It's ongoing for us to understand that.
03:05The same, no different than al-Qaeda and ISIS.
03:07No, no.
03:08I don't want you...
03:09I'll ask one question, sir.
03:10I just want you to tell us.
03:12If you said Antifa is the number one domestic terrorist organization operating in the United States,
03:20I just need to know where they are, how many people.
03:23I don't want a name.
03:24I don't want anything like that.
03:26Just how many people have you identified with the FBI that Antifa is made of?
03:36Well, the investigations are active.
03:40Sir, you wouldn't come to this committee and say something you can't prove, I know.
