00:00Allie! Hello! I've missed you. I miss you. How are ya? I'm doing good, you know, just ready for this fight.
00:11Yeah, well, so I, I mean, before we get into it all, I mean, how, just how's everything been? You've been training, how's the family?
00:18Everything is good. You know, I've been in the gym most of the time, so it's mostly calls with mom and dad and Logan, but, you know, Julia's been there and we're going to get to spend Christmas all together, which is cool.
00:37That is really cool. It's so special. Well, so just to jump into what we're here to talk about, obviously you've been prepping to fight Tommy.
00:47Now you are being partnered up again with Tyron Woodley. Tell me a little bit about just how, did that change your training at all?
00:59Yeah, for sure. For sure. We had to change things around, you know, going from fighting Tommy, who's more of a boxer and has an elusive style, to fighting Tyron, who, you know, is strong, tough, comes forward and is a shorter guy.
01:17So we had to switch up the sparring partners last minute, bring in different people. But that's all part of the game. You know, this is boxing. We both took the fight on short notice.
01:28Yeah. And what is it like to have this opportunity to go up against him once again? Do you feel like the pressure is on more than it was before?
01:38For sure. But, you know, I like that. And for me, I wasn't happy with my performance last time.
01:44And so this is an opportunity to correct that and to come in and get the knockout that I was looking for last time.
01:53I had a chip on my shoulder going into camp and I wanted to work extra hard so that no matter who I was fighting, that I would go in there and knock them out.
02:03Mm-hmm. And you've said that you don't think that the fight with Tommy will actually ever happen. Do you, why exactly is that?
02:12I just don't want to give him the fight. You know, he needs the fight. And I don't need Tommy Fury. I could fight anybody.
02:22There's people calling me out every week. Big names. You know, these aren't little people.
02:28They're the pound for pound, you know, boxing champions talking about me to the pound for pound UFC champions talking about me.
02:36So who is Tommy Fury in the grand scheme of things? And that's why I'm like, sorry, Tommy, we're never going to fight.
02:42You had your chance and you blew it.
02:44Mm-hmm. Definitely. I mean, I get it.
02:47Um, and you have said that you would possibly, I mean, there's, there's been other names tossed up.
02:53What, who do you think's next? Do you have, or just, it's kind of whoever comes for you first.
02:58Yeah. I mean, we'll see. I think it's back to the drawing board after this fight.
03:04We have a lot of decisions to make on the business side of things.
03:07And, um, there's a lot of people calling me out, so we'll see where the stars align.
03:13And I want someone reliable, you know, I want someone who actually we know is going to get in there
03:19and make the fight happen and isn't going to push it or try to push it because of an injury.
03:24Mm-hmm. Definitely. Um, and you did open up as well about a little bit about, um,
03:30being advised to stop your boxing career that you've, um, had some medical issues surrounding it.
03:36What, where do you stand with that?
03:38Yeah. You know, I, I'm moving forward, you know, to me, uh, to me, it doesn't matter, you know, and,
03:48and I'm doing what I love and that's all that people should do in life and nothing should stop
03:54you from doing what you love.
03:56Mm-hmm. Um, and you have been a major advocate for, um, fighters pay, um, especially female boxers
04:06and female fighters. Can you tell me a little bit about just getting into that, um, that fight and
04:11why that's so important to you?
04:13Yeah. So when I came into the sport, you know, I just started to talk with sparring partners,
04:21boxers, coat, my coaches, really anyone just about the sport. And I started to hear all these like
04:27horror stories about how fighters are getting paid a thousand dollars or 2000 or 5,000 or 10,000
04:35on some of the biggest cards possible. You know, a fighter that I know was fighting on McGregor versus,
04:40uh, uh, Mayweather with one of the biggest pay-per-views and he was getting paid pennies.
04:47And I hear stories about this all the time. Like you're risking your life and this doesn't make
04:52any sense. We need to figure out a way, uh, to, to get people paid more. And I'm going to be the,
04:57the leading prime example of that. And to even, you know, take money out of what I would make and
05:04give it back to the fighters who have been in this sport their whole entire lives.
05:08Mm-hmm. Um, and so that's a fight that you plan to continue, uh, as you go forward with your career.
05:15For sure. For sure. And, and, you know, it's working and especially, uh, with women's boxing,
05:22they've been taking advantage even more so than, uh, than the men on that side of things. And
05:27what we're showing with Amanda Serrano is that women can get a seven figure payday.
05:32And that's what we're doing in 2022. And that's exciting because that just shows the value of
05:38women in this sport. And it's going to be the trickle down effect of like, oh, they're getting
05:43seven figures. Then, you know, my paid deserves to be more at the, at the lowest level. And so
05:49we're, we're making an impact already. And that's all I, that's all I could hope for.
05:55Definitely. She's such a bad-ass. Do you, um, feel like Julia will ever get in the ring?
06:00Would you like to see her?
06:02I don't know. I don't want Julia to get in the ring. Definitely not.
06:07I don't either. Um, do you think your brother will ever get back, uh, in there? Logan?
06:13For sure. For sure. He will, uh, we'll, we'll see when and who and where, uh, but you know,
06:21he's a fighter at heart and he's, he's definitely itching to figure out a fight for himself.
06:27Mm-hmm. Um, and as you go into your fight, what's your game plan? What's the, what's the motto?
06:33You know, I've done everything I've needed to do. I know, uh, what I have to do to win. So just
06:42staying focused and staying calm and being patient and, uh, executing the game plan and not getting,
06:48uh, you know, excited or let, or not letting the moment get to me. Um, so just being ready.
06:56Amazing. Well, I will, as always be rooting for you. Um, and it's so good to see you. You really
07:03seem like you're in such a great place and I'm really proud of you.
07:07Thank you, Allie. I really appreciate that. And I'm sure we'll talk soon.
