00:00Sophie is a cruel and hostile planet and if you're not properly prepared heading down there is a
00:11suicide mission. This brief will catch you up on everything you need to know as a first-timer.
00:21We'll start in the hangar. Here you can pick a pre-designed trampler or build one from scratch.
00:29Once ready you can choose to head to the planet solo or invite fellow scavengers to join your
00:34expedition. When preparing for an expedition it's important to select the right gear for the
00:39situation. Make sure to stock up on food, weapons, ammo, turrets and turret ammo. You can equip items
00:46either on your person or within your ship's cargo hold. Begin your expedition and head down to the
00:53planet where your trampler will be waiting for deployment. Board your trampler and access your
01:00cargo hold to retrieve your equipment. Be sure to store plenty of food so your expedition doesn't
01:05come to an early end if you die in the field. Mount your turrets, load them with ammo and head to the
01:10reactor. Activate the reactor to power your trampler and begin your journey across the dunes. Your main
01:18objective is to locate, acquire and extract valuables left behind after the disaster that rendered the
01:23planet barren. Cities, forts, caves and shipwrecks hold many such treasures. They should be your
01:30first targets. You may come across some buildings protected by red doors. To access these you'll need
01:36to use explosives. C4, grenades, explosive barrels and even shots from your trampler turret can do the
01:42trick here. During storm dive expeditions you'll have to contend with an ever-closing sandstorm that
01:48engulfs the world over the course of your session. Keep an eye on your map and any warnings about
01:52its movement to avoid being caught in a sandy situation.
01:55Smoke on the horizon is a sure sign that enemies are nearby. If you find yourself in a confrontation,
02:05use your flare gun to signal your intent. Green means friendly, red means let's fight. However,
02:12there's no honour among scavengers, so don't be surprised if someone attacks even after you've fired a
02:17green flare.
02:24Try and aim for the reactor. This is the quickest way to destroy a trampler.
02:32If you emerge triumphant from a trampler battle, be sure to board the enemy ship and collect their
02:36black box. This is a valuable item that can be traded for important resources.
02:41Though the cities found around the planet may lie in ruins, they're not truly abandoned.
02:46Upiors, strange creatures born from those left behind, still roam the streets and can prove a challenge for even the most experienced scavengers.
02:56Once the area is clear, you're safe to start scouring the city for loot. Weapons and turrets come in various levels of rarity, with the rarer ones being much more valuable and even more deadly.
03:08You may even come across locked boxes in your exploration. To open them, you'll need to find keys scattered throughout the world.
03:15After spending some time on the planet's surface, an extraction point will appear on your map. If you're satisfied with your haul, head to this area, climb the tower and call for extraction.
03:26Keep in mind that other scavengers can interrupt the extraction process, so make sure the coast is clear before initiating it.
03:33Ensure everything you've collected is properly stored in boxes, on shelves or on your person. Otherwise, only things you have properly stored will be taken back into orbit.
03:43Once the extraction ship arrives, climb the extraction rope that drops from the front of the ship to bring your expedition to an end.
03:51And with that, you'll have completed your first expedition.
03:55Upon your return to the hangar, you can use your loot to unlock new trampler customization options, build entire new tramplers from scratch, improve your gear or head straight back down for another expedition.
04:05To be continued...
