00:00Mamdani flags weirdest thing he saw in Trump White House.
00:05During a recent appearance on The Adam Friedland Show, New York mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani shared
00:10the most bizarre thing he saw in President Donald Trump's White House.
00:14When asked by Friedland, what was the weirdest thing Trump showed you?
00:17Mamdani recalled sitting alone and waiting for the meeting to begin.
00:21In front of me are all of these different coffee table books.
00:24And one of them is UFC at the White House, he said.
00:27During the campaign, Trump repeatedly attacked Mamdani, calling him a communist lunatic
00:32and raising doubts about his ability to govern.
00:35Trump even suggested federal funding could be withheld if Mamdani won.
00:39But after the meeting, Trump publicly reversed course, saying he would feel comfortable
00:43living in Mamdani's New York City and offering full support.
00:47Mamdani said his focus remained on his platform.
00:51Honestly, I was just thinking about New York City, he said.
00:54He pointed to regulatory hurdles and construction expenses as primary barriers to lowering prices
00:59and noted that child care can reach $22,500 annually per child.
01:05Mamdani also addressed moments from other interviews, including when reporters asked whether he still
01:10considers Trump a fascist, to which the president responded that he didn't mind because it was
01:15easier than explaining other definitions.
01:18He cited Roosevelt-era cooperation between Fiorello LaGuardia and the federal government
01:22as a model, saying effective leadership requires coordination across political divides.
01:28On social media, Trump called the meeting a great honor.
01:31Mamdani later posted on X,
01:33Working people have been left behind in New York.
01:36In the wealthiest city in the world, one in five can't afford $2.90 for the train or bus.
01:41As I told Trump today, it's time to put those people right back at the heart of our politics.
01:46Right now.
