From my video promoting a musical based on the Everly Sisters bordello in Chicago 1901. The musical was never produced. The songs were written by Storm Large and James Beaton, recorded in back yard during Covid. Photos are over 120 years old.

00:22Ten years of work and selling moments of pleasure
00:26Makes me laugh when they call us girls or ladies
00:29And leisure every day and all night long
00:33They get it up and we get it on
00:37We go down above it and beyond
00:41But this is not a love song
00:44This old world is lacking in love and affection
00:51A man needs a lady for a sweeter distraction
00:55Life can be so hot they need a soft spot to land
00:59When he comes in here he's very good
01:02He's white, skinny, or weak, or strong

01:50This is not a love song
01:54Put it in, pull it out, put it in again
01:56Put it in, pull it out, put it in again

02:00What's a daisy
02:09Dirty!
02:11Dirty!
02:14So this is a song
02:16About a girl at a crossroads
02:20She's been working and living this life, and she's at this point where she's trying to decide which direction she should take.
02:32Should she go back? Should she go forward? Should she stay still?
02:36And this is her contemplation, standing on a train platform.
02:40Girls from small towns run around until somebody picks them out to love and marry.
02:53But you know I'm different, independent. I run with faster crowds, but always solitary.
03:04Oh, mama, look at your good girl. She's a go-getter, trying to do better.
03:19Girls from the city, smart and pretty, until their time runs out, and time runs out.
03:37Now I know the secret, I can see it. Just like a sudden spark, I'll turn it all around.
03:49Oh, mama, look at your good girl. She's a go-getter, going somewhere better.
04:01There she is, there she goes. Where she stops, nobody knows.
04:07But oh, you won't, won't forget her.
04:12We can only try to do our best in life, and some best is better than some others.
04:25That big old starry sky, made up of tiny lies.
04:31There she goes.
04:33There she goes.
04:34There she goes.
04:36There she goes.
04:37But oh, mama, look at your good girl. She's a go-getter, who finally knows better.
04:49Oh, mama, look at your girl, girl, she's a go-getter, going somewhere better, and there she is, there she goes, to the stars and all their shadows, and you won't, oh, you won't forget her, no, you won't forget her.
05:16Don't forget.
05:46Don't forget.
05:57You
