00:00It was a family vacation of sorts for the Hemsworth brothers.
00:03Chris, Liam, and their older brother, Luke, together on the red carpet.
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:08And today, we're counting down our picks for the top 20 shocking A-list stars
00:13you never expected to share the same DNA.
00:16I... I... I was a typical older sister.
00:19You bossed me around.
00:20I gotta say.
00:23Number 20. Jesse and Halle Eisenberg.
00:26Everyone remembers Jesse Eisenberg for his Oscar-nominated work
00:30playing brainiac Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network.
00:34But here's one fun fact most people forget.
00:37He wasn't the first Eisenberg to blow up on screen.
00:40That spotlight initially hit his little sister Halle.
00:43If you grew up in the late 90s, you definitely saw her as the Pepsi girl,
00:48delivering attitude in every commercial.
00:50What's with this guy?
00:51Look, I just thought...
00:53You thought?
00:53What you really thought was that I don't know the difference between Pepsi and a Coke, right?
00:58Here's your Pepsi.
01:01Mmm.
01:01Kids say the darndest thing.
01:03Halle also charmed her way through the 1998 film, Polly.
01:07Meanwhile, Jesse was still grinding his way toward those smart, anxious characters he's famous for today.
01:13Looking back, it's funny to think that before Jesse took over Facebook on screen,
01:18his kid sister Halle had already taken over our TVs.
01:21Talent clearly runs in the family.
01:24The worst thing is, is when you get stuck in the first take of a scene eating because you're hungry,
01:29and then we end up doing 77 takes and you're still eating Pop-Tarts.
01:32Number 19.
01:34Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad.
01:36Your hosts are television's most popular sisters.
01:40Phylicia Rashad of The Cosby Show and Debbie Allen of Fame.
01:45Hi, Mom!
01:45Remember The Cosby Show?
01:47Phylicia Rashad played Claire Huxtable alongside Bill Cosby and turned the show into a masterclass of charm, wit, and grace.
01:56Surprisingly, she wasn't the only star in the family.
01:59Her younger sister, Debbie Allen, took to the limelight in a completely different way.
02:04Debbie's an electrifying dancer and choreographer who made waves as the unforgettable Lydia Grant in Fame.
02:10While Phylicia was dazzling audiences with her poise, Debbie was redefining the art of dance on screen.
02:18From Emmy-worthy moments to explosive choreography, the two sisters continue to inspire generations.
02:24Phylicia and Debbie are just living proof that sibling talent can dominate in multiple forms.
02:30You're sisters, but you seem like such friends as well.
02:33Phylicia is my best friend.
02:35She is.
02:36I speak with her probably every day.
02:39Number 18, Dennis and Randy Quaid.
02:42They say Hollywood runs in the blood, and that's very obvious with brothers Randy and Dennis Quaid.
02:48Yes, there are two of them.
02:50They both came into the industry with the same parents, the same Texas roots, the same love for the craft.
02:55But their journeys aren't exactly the same.
02:57And I think that we would be most remiss in our duty indeed if we did not volunteer for something that is as important as this is to our country and to the world in general right now.
03:11Dennis built a steady A-list career in films like The Right Stuff and The Parent Trap.
03:16Randy, the older sibling, broke in early too, earning Oscar attention before delivering that unforgettable energy in Independence Day.
03:23Hello, boys!
03:26I'm back!
03:34But it hasn't all been glitz.
03:37Both Quaids have weathered intense public scrutiny and personal drama.
03:41Different paths, different highs and lows, but the same spark.
03:45Despite everything, Dennis and Randy still leave their mark writing completely different Hollywood stories.
03:51What was that?
03:52She said something about a nail and something.
03:55Oh, it's getting awesome.
03:59Number 17, Liev and Pablo Schreiber.
04:03You might not guess it, but Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber and American Gods actor Pablo Schreiber are half-brothers.
04:09There's a wide age gap between the siblings, and even though they share the same last name, their upbringings were very different.
04:16Liev grew up on the East Coast.
04:18I grew up on the West Coast.
04:19He's 10 years older than me.
04:21We didn't grow up together at all, so we have very little commonality other than the fact that we have the same dad.
04:27Liev made a name for himself in films like Scream before dominating his title role in Ray Donovan.
04:32Pablo, meanwhile, built his own impressive path, earning an Emmy nomination for his role in Orange is the New Black, and later captivating audiences as Mad Sweeney.
04:43Add in Tony nods for both of their stage work, and you get the full picture of intense Schreiber talent.
04:49These brothers are at the top of their game.
04:51And from other people I've seen that have that dynamic with their father, that it really drives you to do something great.
04:58And I think we both ended up with that.
05:00Like, nothing was quite good enough, so we just work really, really hard to be better.
05:04Number 16.
05:05Ray J and Brandi Norwood
05:07Honestly, we're as shocked as you are.
05:09But then we remembered Brandi and Ray J, a family business.
05:13Seeing them together on that reality TV show, it was impossible to ignore the resemblance.
05:18He's cool. Like, I really don't want to keep discussing them like that because I want Brand to feel it in her heart, and I want her to be happy with that.
05:26The fast-paced entertainment world might make you forget, but these two Norwoods are the tightest kind of siblings.
05:32Brandi became a household name in the 90s with hits like the Grammy-winning The Boy Is Mine.
05:37Ray J also carved his lane with his debut single, Let It Go.
05:41Beyond their solo successes, the siblings have teamed up on scripted projects like One on One and Moesha.
05:47Brandi and Ray J prove that whether it's music, TV, or family drama, the Norwood talent always shines.
05:54If she's with a guy she likes or a guy she doesn't like, I don't care.
05:58All I care about is if she's happy on her birthday.
06:01But you know what? I got my brother, and I got y'all, and I got my cousin. I'm very happy.
06:07Number 15.
06:08James Arness and Peter Graves
06:10Sometimes you look back at classic Hollywood and realize the legends you grew up watching were closer than you ever knew.
06:17James Arness and Peter Graves, both gone now, left footprints so big, it hits even harder to remember they were brothers.
06:25James became part of American TV DNA when he played Marshal Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke.
06:30Mr. Dillon, can I just sort of follow?
06:37I'll see you later.
06:39Peter, born Peter Arness, went by the stage name Graves partially to avoid confusion with his brother.
06:45He played a Jim Phelps on Mission Impossible, making spy work look effortless and earning critical acclaim.
06:51Same Minneapolis roots, two careers, two genres.
06:55Both so massive.
06:57Even today, both names still gleam on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a reminder of legends never forgotten.
07:03As always, should you or any member of your I.M. force be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.
07:10This tape will self-destruct in five seconds.
07:13Good luck, Jim.
07:14Number 14.
07:16Thaisa and Vera Farmiga
07:17This one you'll definitely love to hear.
07:20Did you know Thaisa and Vera Farmiga are sisters?
07:23Though they actually look alike, the 21-year age difference made it hard to tell at first.
07:28Get some coaching tips?
07:30Yeah, she, when I needed her help, she was there.
07:33She was there for me and she gave me little suggestions.
07:36What gave it away was when Vera cast Thaisa to play her younger self in her directorial debut, Higher Ground.
07:42From there, Thaisa stepped into her own spotlight, becoming a scream queen on American Horror Story.
07:48Meanwhile, Vera became horror royalty herself, playing Lorraine Warren in the Conjuring franchise.
07:55They've even appeared in smaller films together, commanding attention and leaving chills on screen in their own way.
08:01So next time you see either Farmiga in action, remember, it isn't just talent.
08:06It's a family dynasty, straight up.
08:08And I said, listen, if you're there, you know, just do what you're told.
08:12I've been photographing her since she was a kid.
08:14Let me go.
08:15Number 13.
08:16Chris, Liam, and Luke Hemsworth
08:18We like to call this one the Hemsworth Hollywood takeover.
08:22Not one, not two, but three brothers stormed the movie world.
08:26Did you know that there is a third Hemsworth brother?
08:29There he is, sandwiched between Chris and Liam at the vacation premiere.
08:32Luke, the eldest, started the charge, grinding through Aussie sets before staking his claim in Westworld.
08:39Then Chris arrived and changed the entire game, turning a superhero audition into a global phenomenon as Thor, one of the biggest roles in modern cinema.
08:49Before the dust even settled, Liam stepped into the Hunger Games, proving the baby brother can absolutely steal a franchise too.
08:57Chris may be the most popular, but the other brothers are totally killing it.
09:00Let's not forget, they all look cool too.
09:03Honestly, the Hemsworths aren't just a family.
09:06They're a Hollywood legacy in the making.
09:08Did you beat up on your brothers?
09:10Every chance I could.
09:12Right.
09:13And I still do.
09:15You know, I mean, as you know.
09:16You have to.
09:16They're really tall.
09:18Oh yeah, they're big, yeah.
09:19But they're actually quite soft.
09:21Number 12.
09:22Ron and Clint Howard
09:23These brothers were basically born on set.
09:26Their parents were both actors, so it was only natural that the talent would be passed down.
09:31What, Clint, was your story from Night Shift?
09:34Well, my story is it was a good movie because Ron cast me in a role where I got to lay in a morgue drawer with a naked woman.
09:42The brothers' relationship might not have been obvious at first, since Ron started as a child star before going behind the camera.
09:49He directed Oscar-winning hits like Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind, among many others.
09:55Clint, on the other hand, became one of Hollywood's most distinctive character actors, bringing memorable energy to countless films and TV shows.
10:03While Ron was making movie magic behind the scenes, Clint was on screen doing his thing.
10:08From shared childhood sets to epic careers, the Howard brothers continue a story that's literally etched into Hollywood history.
10:15The fellow who was supposed to play that part was a no-show.
10:20And Ron came to me and goes, hey, would you like to do this little part in this scene, you know?
10:26I don't think I said, would you like to.
10:27You're going to.
10:29Number 11.
10:31Kate Hudson, Oliver Hudson, and Wyatt Russell
10:33Look at that picture.
10:35Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's Family Christmas came early.
10:38Three generations got together.
10:40Another case of three siblings, only this time one's a half-brother.
10:44Kate and Oliver are children of Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn, making them Hollywood royalty by birth.
10:51But half-brother Wyatt Russell takes the family tree in a whole new direction.
10:55Kate won hearts and awards with her breakout role in Almost Famous, while Oliver found his comedic groove in Rules of Engagement.
11:02Then came Wyatt, trading his ice hockey career for acting.
11:06He stormed screens in Overlord, and now continues to wow Marvel fans as John Walker.
11:11That's the thing about celebrity siblings.
11:14Bloodlines might open doors, but it takes talent and skill to keep you in the spotlight.
11:19She's so supportive.
11:20She always knew when was the exact right moment to be mom.
11:27Like, I had two very different parents, and they were the best parents.
11:30Number 10.
11:31Ariel Winter and Jimmy Workman.
11:33I really need to focus.
11:36There is a 16-year-old science prodigy studying cancer research at Johns Hopkins.
11:4016!
11:40What am I doing?
11:41I'm eating cake!
11:42Ariel is best known for playing Alex Dunphy on Modern Family.
11:46And Jimmy's most famous role was playing Pugsley Adams in the Adams family movies in the early 90s.
11:52Bravo, Pugsley!
11:54And while both those families had their issues, it doesn't compare to the turmoil that Ariel and Jimmy experienced in their own family.
12:02Pugsley, sit in a chair.
12:04Why?
12:05So we can play a game.
12:06Ariel's family battles have been news fodder for years, with her older sister Chanel getting guardianship of Winter,
12:12following accusations of physical and emotional abuse by their mother.
12:16Retired actor Jimmy sided with their mother in the case, and he and Ariel are also estranged because of it.
12:23Number 9.
12:25Tyne and Tim Daly.
12:26Honey, it's going to take some time before it stops feeling like home.
12:30Even though they have the same last name, you may not have connected them together,
12:34as there is a 10-year age gap between these siblings.
12:37Younger television viewers might be more familiar with younger brother Tim,
12:41given he was one of the stars of Madam Secretary for six seasons on CBS.
12:46Seriously? You had to wind up the anarchist?
12:48Sorry.
12:49Older sister Tyne might not be as familiar to the current generation of TV viewers,
12:54but in the 1980s, she won four Emmys for her role as Detective Mary Beth Lacey on Cagney and Lacey.
13:01We just got off the phone with Von Gilband's parents.
13:03They haven't heard from him since Christmas.
13:04In 2012, the Daily siblings made their political affiliations known by endorsing Democratic U.S.
13:10President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, either through donations or discussions with the media.
13:16Number 8.
13:17Melissa and Sarah Gilbert.
13:19You're being okay?
13:20It might have crossed your mind that the actresses behind Darlene Conner and Laura Ingalls Wilder
13:26were related given that they both have the same family name.
13:29We'd go where the land was more bountiful, he said.
13:32And he sold our house and land and cow and pack whatever would fit in a wagon.
13:38But what's interesting about these Gilbert sisters is that neither of them was born with the last name Gilbert.
13:43Mary was afraid to go, but I knew nothing bad could happen as long as we had Paul and Jack.
13:50Melissa was born in 1964 and was put up for adoption.
13:54She was immediately adopted by Paul Gilbert and Barbara Crane.
13:57After her parents divorced, her mother married Harold Abels.
14:01And it's with him that she had her daughter Sarah, born Sarah Rebecca Abels in 1975.
14:07In 1984, when she became an actress, Sarah took the last name Gilbert.
14:11And on your way, could you swing by the jail and bail out your dad?
14:22What?
14:23Number 7.
14:24Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez.
14:26I'm shocked.
14:27While most everyone knows that Charlie Sheen is Martin Sheen's son,
14:31fewer folks are aware that Emilio Estevez is another one of Martin's sons and the brother of Charlie.
14:37Martin, born Ramon Estevez, changed his name early on in his career,
14:42and his son Charlie followed suit when he got into the business.
14:45However, in a fun Easter egg, Charlie is credited by his real name, Carlos Estevez, in the film Machete Kills.
14:52Emilio, however, decided to keep the family name on and off-screen.
14:59And he said he was very glad he did so in Latina Magazine.
15:02Alright, what about your family?
15:05Number 6.
15:06Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein.
15:08But with Booksmart, it was so interesting because often the questions were pretty simple and pretty just like,
15:16so you're Jonah's sister, this is a female super bad.
15:18Here we have another example of one sibling changing, or rather leaving behind, their family name and another keeping it.
15:25Jonah Hill was born Jonah Hill Feldstein, but decided to go by his middle name for showbiz,
15:30while Booksmart actress Beanie has kept her family name while pursuing her career.
15:35But the irresponsible people who partied also got into those colleges.
15:39They did both.
15:40Why did Jonah decide to drop his last name, you ask?
15:43Well, others have asked as well, and Jonah has never really answered the question.
15:47What's up?
15:47What's up?
15:49What we do know is that it is in no way an attempt to distance himself from his sister,
15:54as he's shown up at one of her movie premieres with a Beanie's Brother jacket,
15:58and has even tattooed her name on his arm.
16:01Number 5.
16:02Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine.
16:04When siblings have different last names, it's usually because one of them decided to go with different ones.
16:10That's, that's right.
16:11But in this case, Warren and Shirley both use stage names that differ from the names they were given at birth.
16:17Older sister Shirley was born Shirley MacLaine Beatty,
16:20but when a producer was constantly mispronouncing her family name,
16:24she dropped it, and also altered the spelling of MacLaine.
16:28You are not special enough to overcome a bad marriage.
16:31As for younger brother Warren, he kept Beatty, but added a second T when he became an actor.
16:37Both siblings have won Oscars, although we don't think the name changes had anything to do with it.
16:42We all came down here, Bush, Clinton, Wilson, all of us.
16:46We got our pictures taken, told you what you wanted to hear, and we pretty much forgot about it.
16:50Number 4.
16:53Lily and Alfie Allen.
16:56This one shouldn't come as a surprise to Lily Allen fans,
17:04given that a song called Alfie, which is about her younger brother,
17:07appeared on her 2006 debut album.
17:10In the track, she admonishes her brother for what she perceives as his idle,
17:14recreational lifestyle, and television viewing.
17:17You need to get a job because the bills need to get paid.
17:21She also tells him to go find work.
17:23Well, we don't know if the tune had any influence on Alfie's ambition,
17:27but just five years later, after auditioning for the role of Jon Snow,
17:30he was cast as Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones.
17:34You may be right.
17:38I've gone too far to pretend to be anything else.
17:41His profile has risen exponentially since then,
17:44and he even has an Emmy nomination to his name.
17:47Number 3.
17:48Chris and Scott Evans.
17:50Did you know that Captain America has a younger brother and he's a cop?
17:54I don't want to.
17:55Okay, so Scott Evans isn't really a cop,
17:57but he played a police officer on One Life to Live.
18:00And if he wasn't an actor, he would have wanted to be a homicide detective.
18:03Chris, what would Scott be if he weren't an actor?
18:08Okay, if he weren't an actor, it would be, it would be, I know this,
18:12it would have something to do with, um, uh, police work.
18:17More recently, Scott booked a recurring role on the Netflix show Grace and Frankie,
18:21while Chris continues to shine as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
18:25Who are you supposed to be?
18:26Um, Captain America.
18:29We aren't sure how they even have time for all their projects,
18:32while also putting time into their epic scare competition on social media.
18:37Chris!
18:37Scare!
18:40Number 2.
18:41Blake and Robin Lively.
18:43Blake and Robin are half-sisters and have a 15-year age gap between them,
18:47so it might not be so crazy that you didn't realize they were siblings.
18:51Both women became popular at relatively young ages,
18:54although with two completely different generations of fans.
18:57Hey Louise, why don't you register with us?
19:01Love to.
19:01Robin was 17 when the 1989 film Teen Witch was released,
19:06and Blake made her debut on Gossip Girl almost two decades later in 2007, when she was 20.
19:12See, the problem is, uh, by the time I got the invitation, I, um, actually already had plans.
19:18And although the last name does hint at their family relationship,
19:21it's interesting to note that Blake was actually born Blake Brown.
19:25Blake took her mother Elaine's surname,
19:27which Elaine got from her previous marriage, when she started acting.
19:31Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
19:39You'll have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
19:43If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
19:47When Toby Sebastian fans saw that his new song Midnight featured Florence Pugh,
20:03they probably wondered why the actress was appearing on the record.
20:06Well, now we all know.
20:08Toby, who, by the way, was born Sebastian Toby M. Pugh, is Florence's older brother.
20:13Pugh has seen her star skyrocket during the late 2010s and early 2020s,
20:18especially after joining the MCU in 2021's Black Widow.
20:22And we also have another Game of Thrones connection here,
20:25as Sebastian is probably best known for his role as Tristane Martell in season 5 and 6 of the HBO show.
20:31Which of these celebrity siblings surprised you the most?
