00:00Meanwhile, the National Food Authority successfully cleared their warehouses

00:03after holding an auction for almost 16,000 metric tons of rice.

00:08According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr.,

00:13this is still part of the agency's steps to ensure the continuous procurement of local palay

00:17or unhusk rice and to help the farmers.

00:21NFA Administrator Larry Loxon said that 315,000 sacks were awarded in the bidding.

00:28Loxon added that consumers will also benefit from the faster movement of stocks in the country.

00:34The agri-chief, meanwhile, is hoping for the passage of the bill to restore the NFA's regulatory powers,

00:40which is also important to clear their warehouses and protect the farmers and consumers.
