KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has begun one of the most significant fleet-renewal programs in its history by officially retiring its first Boeing 737-800, marking the beginning of the end for an era that spanned several decades.

The Dutch carrier, a long-time operator of Boeing aircraft, has started the progressive phase-out of nearly 40 jets from the 737 family.

The first aircraft to leave the fleet was PH-BXK, which served KLM on European routes for almost 25 years. The jet was ferried to Twente Airport, where it will be dismantled by the specialized company AELS.

According to KLM, both the engines and the auxiliary power unit (APU) have already been removed and will be reused in other aircraft still in operation, extending their service life within the airline.

00:08The first plane, the PAH, the Bravo X-ray Kilo, the first 737-800, which is going to lose.
00:16We have last week the plane here at Twente Airport.
00:19We have done the flight-ups with the collega's.
00:30The process is very simple in its work.
00:34The plane comes here on our landingsbaan.
00:37The plane comes here for our hangar.
00:40The plane is here for our hangar.
00:42In this case, the motor and the APU.
00:47The APU is a hulpmotor for the plane.
00:50For example, if you have a power in the ground, you don't have any ground power unit.
00:54It's a hulpmotor after you.
00:56That's why it's strom.
00:58We take around 800 to 1000 from the plane.
01:01We will be done by thealla.
01:05We will release the plane with the plane.
01:07We will also go back to the plane.
01:08The ALM logo, the landing base, the planes and the other side.
01:14We will make it a lot from the plane.
01:16We will try to do so much as possible to recycle.
01:22When the plane is out of the plane, we will find isolatedekens.
01:25We'll try as much as possible to find a place for it.
01:28And finally, this will be cut off and it will be as much as possible.
01:33And the aluminum will be recycled.
01:39The 737 has been replaced by the new Airbus, the A321 and the A321.
01:46So, the old float is out, the new float for Europe.
01:50This is indeed the first 737 that comes out of KLM.
01:55We've got the chance to buy these.
01:57The second will be released by us in January.
02:00The goal is to be a flexible partner for an airline to be able to use their float and recycle.
02:07The new A321 Neo's that we get.
02:11They'll be a bit more than the 737.
02:15So, that's where we're going.
02:16And I think that there will be more passengers in the airbus.
02:19That's what we're going to do with the airbus.
02:20But I think that the comfort of passengers is a little better.
02:23The goal of our company is to bring us as much as possible to the airbus.
02:27And we're able to prepare for the airbus land for them.
02:28Now, this years we have left theijing of flying overloads and to adjust for something.
02:32Once we find that, we'll start singing in the airbus.
02:36Then we've heard aboutgging the airbus andyanлонine,
02:38calling it your airbus and catalyze,
02:42So I'm watching the airbus and覆itt in your lamp.
