00:00Hello, I'm Chris, Game Director on Speed Freaks. I want to introduce you to our newest feature,
00:07Creation Mode, which you can see in this footage as I build something simple with our team actually
00:13driving through it in real time. This is one of the coolest things about the mode since if you've
00:18played like Halo Forge or other games where you can build stuff live in multiplayer, the results
00:23can be some pretty ridiculous fun. Creation Mode in Speed Freaks actually turned out to be a lot
00:29more powerful than we thought it would be now that we've seen what our testers are doing with it
00:33already, like creating ridiculous races, obstacle courses, hill climbs, and other challenges, but
00:39also diving into wildly thematic things like a pirate ship, a theme park, giant pinball machine,
00:46and other wacky stuff. The tools are really easy to use and even simple ideas can be executed
00:51into fun maps. And if you're the type of person who would rather just play the game and not build
00:57anything, then you'll be happy to know there will be over 100 custom maps already on the
01:02workshop. This cloud workshop is where players can upload, upvote, and download custom maps
01:08from the community. The system is super easy to use and lets you grab workshop items directly
01:13inside the game to play right away.
01:16Okay, so now I'll go through some of the basics in the editor.
01:20To start a Creation Mode server, click Play Game, Create Game, and then Creation Mode.
01:27Here you can choose any map from the game but also some empty versions of a few of them.
01:32Let's choose one of these empty ones because they're easy to work with and we'll jump right in.
01:37Okay, so the main thing here is to follow the on-screen instructions. Pressing Q will let you place
01:43raceway points, of which you'll need at least a start and an end one to save the map.
01:48To jump into placing things in the world, press Q again, then middle mouse to go into Asset
01:53Placement Mode. Here you'll be able to use Freecam to fly around the map and have a bunch
01:58of hawkies available to help with building stuff. Press Tab to open the Asset Placement Library.
02:05Here you'll see different categories of assets like structures, decoration, glyphs, mechanical
02:10things like jump pads and pistons, as well as VFX. To place an asset in the world, just click
02:17and drag it into the map. Once in the scene, you can press W, E, and R to move, rotate,
02:23and scale the asset. And then if you press Alt and then click to drag the asset, you can duplicate it.
02:31We've also got hotkeys for undo and redo by pressing Ctrl-Z and Ctrl-Y.
02:36Plus, you can select multiple assets by holding Shift and clicking the additional assets.
02:42You can also change the paint job on structures by pressing M to bring up the paint picker. We've got
02:49all six of the major orc clans as well as other presets. And that's it. With these tools, players
02:56can create some pretty crazy things. So we can't wait to see what people keep cooking up. Everyone's
03:02different. They approach things differently and makes really, really unique things. And it's
03:08awesome to see already. If you like using Creation Workshop and want to chat and show off your maps
03:14with other modders, definitely jump on the official Speed Freaks Discord and head to the Community Maps
03:20channel to get more involved. Thanks for checking out our new mode, Creation Workshop. As developers,
03:26we're really happy with how this feature turned out. And we really look forward to seeing what the
03:31community does with it. And it's super rewarding for both us and players to see the stuff in-game
03:37and others playing it. Yeah, it's awesome.
