On December 9, China’s Armed Forces released an official video documenting another joint air patrol with the Russian Aerospace Forces in the Asia-Pacific region.
The footage provides a rare look at the composition of a mixed air group and highlights the use of the direct descendant of the legendary Soviet Tu-16 bomber.
On the Chinese side, the patrol featured the Xian H-6K long-range bomber, a licensed and deeply modernized version of the Tu-16, operated by the PLA Air Force’s 22nd Bomber Regiment. Russia contributed its Tu-95MS strategic bomber, a platform dedicated to launching cruise missiles and a key symbol of Russian aerial deterrence.
