03:18And the pressure is on because this week the judges are staying over so they can experience
03:23each couple's culinary and hosting skills 24-7.
03:28Last time in the heats they had the luxury of being in their own property.

03:35Here they're having to host us.
03:37And only 24 hours.

03:39And they have to shine for those 24 hours.
03:41First up, Nicola and Roy, who are now halfway through their time hosting the guests who
03:46can change their lives.

03:54We'll be at the sink.
03:56I did feel a little bit trepid about coming and being a guest because we've only observed
04:02prior.
04:03But I walked through the door and it just felt like we were actually having a little holiday.
04:09It feels like they've been living in the house for months.
04:13And I keep telling myself, this is about running a B&B.
04:17It is.
04:18And we've got to feel that we could sit, relax, have a drink, have a chat to them, go and sit
04:23in the garden, eat a book if we want.
04:24I feel I could walk down there now and it wouldn't matter what they were doing, what they
04:28were up to, they'd give me a warm welcome.
04:30Yeah.
04:31I've had a cry this morning because I went in to set the dining table and
04:38realised that this is the first and last breakfast we'll ever do.
04:43Or this is the first of many, many breakfasts we'll do.
04:47And I just had a bit of a, I've had my 10% wobble today.
04:51And I had a cry.
04:54Because neither of us want to leave this house, but we know we have to today.
04:58We let the other people have their turn.
05:03But now comes Nicola and Roy's biggest challenge.
05:06Because in the heat weeks, it was the breakfast that tripped them up.
05:14Breakfast this time, we're not taking no risks.
05:16It'll be a traditional French breakfast.
05:19I think the first time we elaborate it in too much.
05:22We are doing eggs because it's a simple thing.
05:25As long as the poached eggs aren't served cold.

05:38So I put all my yoghurts in there and it'll look all nice and pretty.

08:52but it did I think they've got great personality I think they'll be incredible hosts I wish them
09:11they'll do very well yeah and they're really nice people and they'll go far as Michelle and Steve
09:20leave bursting with ideas they've left behind one of their own just in case Nat and Andy fancy

09:50time of chocolate and after issues in heat week there's simply no room for error and we have um this one

10:17I'm glad you noticed I made a little ring then put flowers on it just to make it look nice and keep
10:22the oats Nikola you could wear that as a crown it would melt very quickly

10:39this is so good it is good you're just very clever so who made the cake and me delicious
10:49it is lovely it's a lovely bite from the hazelnuts as well still just in case it's not enough for

11:17very good hosts this week no one can afford any slip-ups this week all judges will have to be even more
11:24critical of everything because the price is so big I think this competition is gonna make or break people
11:32you know and really see who can actually run a B&B and who can't I mean if they're not on form every
11:40minute of those 24 hours they could drop the ball have you tried your orange juice yet yeah good revolting
11:54in the limousine Nicole and Brett are out shopping in a local market getting ready to take charge of the
12:08prize house I think we'll get a lot of things here to be honest yeah I think you can get most things here
12:13you can get your fresh bread if you want it as the second hosts to enter the house they'll need to show
12:19they can embed in this region by providing a locally sourced dinner and breakfast I guess we
12:32have to raise the bar this time maybe free and a few extra specials but I don't know how we're gonna
12:39do that we need to put our heads together and think so Brett if we just pop the cherries on then with
12:45lovely croissants just kind of put out that continental kind of yeah yeah yeah and then we can talk about
12:51how they're seasonal nice thing B&B's in this region rely on dinners to bring in extra income don't think in
13:01the butcher spread hey bacon yeah so this challenge is designed to show who has the recipe for success
13:09this one we've had our feedback from the judges so we'll take it on board yeah we've took it on board they
13:22did mention the pressure and the stress maybe came across in our faces so we do need to smile like
13:29Brennan says and have fun that's perfect perfect we're good hosts we're good learners and we're just
13:37ready for this right that's like 10 year old for that I know it's not right oh no it's three ten three
13:52times yeah I got it messy shop complete now Nicole and Brett's 24 hours of scrutiny is about to begin
14:04we are super ready let's go game one we've been waiting for today so we're ready
14:19meanwhile it's time for the judges verdict on Nicola and Roy's breakfast service
14:24so what do you think of the breakfast selection really good surely good it's really good the
14:33only thing is the orange juice is pretty grim I'm really impressed but they've got the cake they've
14:39done their work they've done their homework the research I liked being offered an egg as opposed
14:44to that being the breakfast they are listening and we put a lovely service so I you know if that coffee
14:53pot went down I'm sure somebody will notice yeah that's the difference yeah later Nicola and Roy have
15:01one final time to shine taking the judges on a trip to a bee farm okay guys you want to get ready and we'll
15:09head to the the bee farm this day was wonderful we loved being here and we loved hosting the guests and
15:22it was just it was it was home it was homely if I can explain that when you walk into a property and
15:27it automatically becomes your home straightaway it was it's just amazing we just hope it's not our last
15:32breakfast in the house I hope it's the first of many leaving the house is going to be yeah emotional
15:38and we just hope that we will be back recognizes the nice ones the nice judges the nice judges okay
15:54perfect I hope next time we're coming here well that's what we are coming here again we're on the
16:02pack on our bags yeah hopefully this is not the end I love that I think it's not going to be any
16:08better something to start you know there's three more couples to go I know love but we've done our

17:14all right then no pressure today nice and relaxed I think you tackle the bedrooms yeah because I have
17:21a lot of chopping today for dinner have you got a checklist this time all on there yeah
17:29rooms go my checklist with my pen what I've got here so I've got some just bits for each room just
17:42to sort of power mark on it so here we've got some bags of lavender and probably pair on this bed this
17:48week the rooms have already been cleaned because the judges are focusing on the hosting skills the vital
17:54ingredient for any B&B air it's the people that make a B&B it's a people job and it's you're pouring
18:03your heart and soul your personality into everything that you do they came in the most professional
18:12they had a brand they were gunning for it the brand brand brand brand brand brand shirt but I know
18:18nothing about Brett and Nicole cooking in this house is just unreal it's really really lovely tonight
18:27Nicole and Brett need to show they can create a relaxed stress-free atmosphere for guests yeah okay
18:41hang on no but did you pick them away no Nicole and Brett's strength from the heat week was that they've
18:49came so well prepared and if anything didn't go according to plan for Nicole it added a layer of stress
18:55so Brett's forgotten tomatoes but I'm sure they were checked off it was me that did the less so we didn't get
19:0610 tomatoes then you're gonna have to go and get them okay how soon do you need them well judges are
19:14coming at half four so yes but how soon do you need them probably now do you need them right now yeah go for it
19:22where I am then is this rooms nearly set okay
19:36meanwhile Nicola and Roy are heading to the local bee farm are you looking forward to today yeah
19:51super excited let's go then okay it's down to each host to choose the trip that best represents their USP
20:00but that's not all the judges want to see the most important thing for me is that it's not up to us to
20:09be the entertainment for their personalities to come out and the fun aspect as well I really think would
20:18like to see yeah I mean you can you could take anything and make it a great experience by injecting
20:24your personality sure it's so beautiful out there it's amazing proper forest it's like Ireland only
20:32warmer so how did you find this place how how did that come about I've always been interested in honey
20:39always I've never been a beekeeper but I just adore the taste of it it's a natural product and hopefully we
20:47can do trips I guess for our guests all right here we go today's outing is being led by Guillaume who
21:03has two and a half million bees this is the heart of the house and these are the extension with the
21:14honey honey honey making has a long history in this region and Nicola and Roy are keen to use this
21:20product in their own B&B so we always stay behind so we don't disturb them when they go out and in and
21:30out at the front my gosh are they upset when they're taking it he knows that this colony of bees are very
21:39calm it has to go really slow so they've got time to move they see it coming down that's blew my mind
21:47all of all the work today last night Nicola myself baked some little Madeline's for you some I think
21:59it'd be nice to try them with some honey yeah you can tell which ones are covered in Belgium so I'm gonna
22:06go natural oh amazing oh thank you Nicola and Roy have done all they can and won't see the judges
22:23until the end of the week when they'll present their business plan we look forward to seeing on Friday and
22:29in the meantime use that time wisely we will we definitely thank you very much thank you guys thank you
22:34bye bye bye bye and Joe thank you thank you bye what a wonderful event it fun wasn't it really summed up their
22:44personalities though there was the fact that it was producing something natural it was very relaxed it was permaculture it was
22:53integrated into the environment there was a journey there there was the chats at the end and we had a good crack didn't we just being
23:01together and then they had their daughter freshman's you know the cakes after exactly yeah it's them it's them it's them they're just lovely
23:11obviously the next time we see the judges they're not going to be our guests they're going to be our judges and they will judge
23:19I think they'll be fierce yeah so it'll be like raving in the headlamps they have to do their job yeah absolutely and we got to be ready for that yeah

23:54everyone always says it takes so long cooking a curry but when you're used to cooking it at home you're kind of quick it's an easy one
24:04we're just going to do something called a borrow basket so like you know if you forget toothbrush or obviously you can't borrow a toothbrush and then
24:12put it back that's yours to keep but you know like you know it's some cotton buds there and again you can't put them back but you know you can just help yourself to this and just take it if you forget something then it's there
24:23it's now half past three and time is running out
24:27it's nearly time the judges are coming we need to start getting ready
24:33they need to appear calm if the judges are to feel relaxed too
24:37do you think I put myself under too much pressure though
24:41uh no I just think sometimes you're a little bit

24:55the tensions are once again

36:46always looked at nicole's mom and dad and they've worked together for years and i've always thought
36:50i couldn't do that but coming here and being with nicole and actually doing this i actually thought
36:55yeah we could do it i feel more connected to brett having that time with them to be honest
37:00and i guess he does calm me down when i'm in a little bit of a stress mode so is everyone finished

39:22they are so good they remind me of well i guess that baklavari kind of element of of honey soaked
39:31syrup soaked stuff it's fabulous they're like a doughnut soaked in sugar and syrups and the pistachio
39:38ice cream is fabulous the first time i'd ever tasted one me and nicole was doing a dinner party for
39:45some friends and she sent me to the asian supermarket and she said you're going to get some galab jam
39:49and i was like you're talking gibberish what what even is that i was running around the asian
39:54supermarket i've never been in there before before what is galab jam how do you even spell it i didn't
39:59even know what i was looking for these little sweet dough balls they work really well
40:08as the sun begins to cast long shadows on day two of finals week all three sets of hosts are putting
40:15their all into winning i keep saying the nicole if as good a chance as anybody else it is a competition
40:22the problem is we don't we don't know what the others are doing and that's it i keep and i need to
40:27stop thinking about them if they concentrate on us i know how is the bed for one i'll be fine here you
40:36you've got the couch let's get a blueberry yeah and let's do a cheers yeah cheers are we supposed to eat
40:45each of us isn't that like what humans do no but now it's time to find out if nicole and brett
40:56have done enough it really was delicious well done i'm grabbing that wine that's about you
41:04with the clean plates it was just like wow we actually are quite good i've taken the compliments
41:09on board and one day who knows if we'll get the case we could turn this place into a lovely restaurant
41:16it was good to have them conversations with the judges and and really feel like they are you know
41:21they're really interested in you as people and what you could bring to this business
41:28there's nothing more they can do today and their fate is in the hands of the judges
41:33so we have our second check-in of this finals week with nicole and brett
41:43it was foggless yeah it was from start to finish perfect for me and different very different it's
41:50something that the restaurants just across the road doesn't offer so in terms of a business plan
41:55she would be adding something to the local area absolutely the dichotomy i've got is that spending
42:01time with roy and nicola last night and today was that i felt they revealed themselves instantly we
42:09ask a lot of questions sometimes you know in order to just provoke conversation running a bnb is a huge
42:16social skill and it's probably underestimated a lot of the time but it's terribly important
42:25but i don't expect to have to work hard to draw out a host if i'm staying in a bnb i expect
42:34them to reveal themselves and to be interested in me a bit last night was just easy we had like we
42:41were staying with relatives absolutely joviality bubbliness warmth easier conversation not quite such
42:48exciting food tonight we're very exciting food slightly less less exciting conversation so actually
42:54almost the inverse of what you expect from each situation in in a way we've given them lots of hints
43:00about opening up tonight they know that they have 24 hours with us to show this so breakfast will be
43:08very interesting they have great warmth they're sweet they're very sweet but that's not enough
43:18the judges want nicole and brett to open up more and tomorrow is their last opportunity we're just
43:26nearly nearly there so tomorrow we need to nail it tomorrow i'm really looking forward to because it's
43:30just going to be posting but in a different setting you know on our on our activity you know yeah
43:36oh 100 being my element i'm fingers crossed because honestly the keys belong in our hand
43:43really we've only seen a tiny element of what they have to offer because it's breakfast and then
43:49really in a way the biggest thing which is them hosting an excursion with us a day out with the judges
43:58i'm really looking forward to a good night's sleep in this beautiful beautiful home which will soon be

44:14next time no it's not happening what's amusing as the hosts hit the midway point in finals week
44:24competition at the bmb is more intense than ever there's no oats in this braid are there i actually
44:30couldn't tell you underwhelming it's all that don't panic just step aside and the judges crank up the
44:37pressure i felt that i was at a corporate event there's just something missing it's not over yet
