00:00We are here with Chloe Tucker-Kane and Trisha Lee from Owning Manhattan.
00:04We're going to talk all things season two.
00:06I can't believe you guys haven't seen it.
00:07I'm going to fill you in on some stuff.
00:09Hopefully you already know the gist of it.
00:11But before we get into any of that, I am curious,
00:15how has newfound fame or this newfound fame
00:17helped your real estate careers over the last year and some change?
00:22I think for me, I've been very fortunate to be the face of Brooklyn
00:28in a lot of ways and in a lot of countries.
00:30So it's been great because I feel like I don't have to really share that
00:33with any of the other agents on the show.
00:35That's true.
00:36So my phone's been ringing.
00:37My emails are busier, definitely busier in general.
00:39Like our team's definitely seen a surge in business.
00:41Yeah.
00:41Yeah, it's been a great opportunity.
00:43I feel like it's more pressure than anything
00:44because people hold you to such a high expectation now.
00:47So it really makes you feel like you need to keep your head in the game at all times.
00:51One thing I noticed this season,
00:53it kind of seemed like some of the Sirhan agents felt slighted by Ryan,
00:56and I think especially when he brought Peter in for 200 Amsterdam.
01:00Our sales director here at 200 Amsterdam.
01:06Mr. Peter Zaitsev, welcome to the crew.
01:11Come up, come up, come up.
01:13Did you two ever feel this way when it came to working with him?
01:18I mean, I think a lot of agents within the firm feel slighted for different reasons.
01:22You know, we're one of the very few firms where, like, the name on the door is upstairs,
01:26and you can go up there and complain and talk to him.
01:28Ryan!
01:29You know, or you can see him in the hallway and be like,
01:31hey, I didn't like that, whatever.
01:32So I think that's what's unique about our office.
01:34And so because of that, I feel like people are just more emotional and more expressive
01:39because there's someone that you really can complain to or complain about,
01:43or there's someone that you think can do something about it.
01:45You know, they don't really realize that he's running this billion-dollar business
01:48and doesn't really care if Trisha and Chloe are fighting.
01:51Yeah.
01:51But the thing is with him is, like, he treats everyone like they're very important.
01:55Yes.
01:55So that's why.
01:56He creates that, yes.
01:57Because he, he, you definitely feel, he's like, well, you call me if you don't like it.
02:01And it's like, I would never tell him when to call me if I like it.
02:03And he'll answer, like, that's the crazy thing.
02:06That's the crazy thing.
02:06Yeah.
02:07So it's, yeah, he gives us license to feel that way for sure.
02:10I definitely feel like I can come to him and be like, you know, the new cult water cooler,
02:13I'm just not really that pleased with it.
02:15You know, it's like anything, which I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing or why he does it,
02:19but we all feel very comfortable to express ourselves.
02:21And that's why, even before the show, she's, like, rolling around with her dog and, you know,
02:26her sunglasses and her five-and-a-half-inch heels, like, because everyone is really free to be who they are
02:31in that space and do real estate.
02:33We've never, I've never felt so free in a workspace before.
02:37Yeah, it's wild.
02:38Dogs running around.
02:39All day long.
02:40Whose dog is this?
02:41Yeah.
02:41Like, it's a really great place to work.
02:43And, I mean, it causes problems, of course, I think, because of everything you said.
02:46Yeah.
02:46But, I mean, good problems to have at the end of the day.
02:48Chloe, one of the big pieces of drama last season was everything going on between you and Jade.
02:53Jade says she felt like you took her ex-husband's side over hers.
02:57I mean, she did twice.
02:58And I was like, actually, it was seven times.
02:59But even if it was twice, like, why would you?
03:04Yeah.
03:06She took his side.
03:09Is that true?
03:10What do you, what do you make of that?
03:12I think I can speak for all of us on the show is we really didn't know what to believe last season.
03:18I mean, we really didn't know, like, did her husband cheat?
03:21Is this something she's trying to push for a storyline?
03:23So, I think there was just, like, a lot of confusion about it.
03:26So, I wasn't, wasn't taking her side when I didn't even know if it was true.
03:31I felt like, for whatever reason, your reaction to everything was captured when we all had that reaction.
03:38Yeah.
03:38Like, the way that...
03:39We all felt like that.
03:40Yeah.
03:40Like, Chloe wasn't saying anything that I wasn't saying.
03:42It's just I may have not said it around cameras, you know?
03:45And Chloe doesn't care.
03:45She'll say whatever.
03:46That's a big part, too.
03:47Not that I care much more than she does.
03:49But I always, like, during that time, I felt like, she's not saying anything the rest of us aren't saying, though.
03:54Like, why is it so huge that she's saying it?
03:57But then I really had to remember that they were friends and they had a history.
04:00Yeah.
04:00But I think the answer to that question, the accurate answer, is most people on the show would have not put it past Jade to be making that up.
04:09And neither did Chloe.
04:10And neither did I.
04:11And also, it had happened supposedly eight months before we started filming.
04:15So, it just felt like...
04:16That part.
04:16So, you're sitting on this for eight months to say it on camera, which I now understand when you're on a reality show.
04:22Like, that's what you do.
04:22You hold it for camera.
04:24It just felt a little, like, yucky and weird.
04:27And then when the show came out, I was like, all right, I'm stupid.
04:31And so, it was, like, a convoluted, confusing time.
04:34Right.
04:34Yeah.
04:34But now, I just, I realize, like, Jade is Jade.
04:36You know, she is who she is.
04:37And I feel like I've really...
04:39I can't speak for everyone, but I can say for myself, I've really now accepted her for exactly who she is.
04:46You know, you two did eventually make up by the end of this season when you went to her with everything going on with Sadie.
04:51And I just feel sad.
04:53I'm like, were you and I are?
04:56Okay, love you.
04:57I love you.
04:58I love you.
04:59I love you and I'm here for you, okay?
05:01Why was she the person you wanted to go to at that moment?
05:04Because at the end of the day, like, I love Jade.
05:06Like, I'm a ride or die for Jade.
05:09Like, even though, you know, I've said a lot of things about her that I regret.
05:13Like, I have a lot of feelings about her.
05:15I've been a, like, very flip-floppy.
05:17She's giving me the I right now.
05:18No, no, I get it.
05:19I of all people get it.
05:20I of all people get it.
05:21And, like, when that was happening, I literally took the dog to the doctor because she was acting funny.
05:29And they were like, just so you know, she has something called IMHA.
05:32She's probably not going to make it.
05:33Take her to the ICU as fast as you can.
05:35And I was just, like, standing there with, like, the lead and her harness.
05:39And I'm sitting outside feeling just, like, so lost and broken.
05:42And I just, like, wanted to talk to my best friend.
05:46And so I called producers and I was like, listen, like, I have this feeling.
05:50Like, I want to talk to Jade.
05:51Like, I want to pick up the phone and talk to her.
05:53Like, follow this or don't.
05:54But, like, I'm going to her apartment.
05:56Not that I knew where she lived because we hadn't been close in a long time.
05:58But I'm getting her address and I'm going.
06:00And, you know, switching gears a little bit, Trisha, I really love to see you open up about your family background.
06:05Shared the true story of how my birth mom passed away.
06:10And it was, like, a very brutal, unfortunately, it was a very brutal murder that took place.
06:16You know?
06:17I'm so sorry.
06:18How did you work through finding out that truth about your family history?
06:22And what did it feel like to finally know what happened?
06:25What was it like to share that in front of cameras?
06:27You know, was that hard for you?
06:28I think it comes across as it's hard.
06:30But I think that when you learn things that are, like, that put the pieces together for your life
06:35and make your life make sense, it's more of a celebration for me.
06:38But I do understand that for people it's a traumatic story and it's very sad.
06:42But for me to stand in my truth and to tell the story and be honest about it, it's very liberating for me.
06:47So it's like, I don't know.
06:49I felt like the day that I was sharing this story.
06:51First, Jordan and I had had a very similar experience the week before where he really kind of downloaded to me his life.
06:58And so it was a very comfortable thing for me to just kind of reciprocate that.
07:03And bigger than that, I think just being so proud of being able to express that, something that I never talked about for so long,
07:12to be able to just openly talk about it.
07:14Like, producers were like, wow, that's an amazing thing that you would share that.
07:17I'm like, it wasn't for you.
07:18It was for me.
07:19It was like, you know, you have to let yourself free.
07:22And I also felt that season one and season two, if I had a dollar for every time someone's like, you're so confident, you're so confident, you know, da-da-da.
07:30And I'm like, maybe I should explain it a little bit.
07:33Because I do think that that's kind of a thing in my life, a consistent thing where people are like, oh, why do you come across so confident?
07:38If you understand my story, you get it.
07:40You'd understand it and you'd leave it alone.
07:42And I think that I just wanted the producers that I was working with to get over that.
07:47It's not going to change because this is where I'm at in my life.
07:49You know, you were very open about your feelings toward Jessica Markowski.
07:53You said you didn't like what she promotes, that it's irresponsible to make real estate look easy, and you attributed a lot of her success to her very connected husband.
08:01I don't dislike her.
08:03I dislike what she promotes.
08:05I just think it's irresponsible to kind of intentionally make what we do look really easy and, like, it just falls in your lap.
08:11That's not the truth of what we do.
08:13Can you speak a bit to those feelings?
08:15You know, have you and Jess had a chance to talk about any of this stuff?
08:18No, we've never talked about it.
08:20I don't think I've ever really had a, I've never had a business conversation with her, that's for sure.
08:24And I've definitely never had a conversation with how I feel.
08:27It's just my observation.
08:28And, again, she may just be, I may be looking at her from the outside, you know, and not knowing.
08:32I think you are.
08:33Yeah, I think that's a part of it.
08:35But we all have a cheat in real estate.
08:38Like, we all have some form of a cheat.
08:40I had a business that was very successful in my borough.
08:43It introduced me to a lot of really dynamic women in Brooklyn.
08:45That is my cheat that gets me into rooms that other people won't get into, even today.
08:49And that was, like, 10 years ago.
08:51Opportunities come to me because of that.
08:53So we all have a cheat, and her husband is a cheat.
08:55You know, that's, I'm not dissing it.
08:56It's just, like, that's the reality.
08:58Like, you're not getting those opportunities on your own.
09:00That's your cheat.
09:01It's just the same with my former business.
09:03Like, I'm not always getting those opportunities on my own.
09:05It's the relationship and reputation I built from that world that benefits me in this world.
09:09So it's a workaround to be more successful in real estate.
09:13I think that she takes that and layers it with this, oh, voila, I just sold a million dollar property.
09:18Or, voila, I just sold a $10 million property.
09:20And then, so when people are out here having to build a business from scratch, like 99.9% of agents,
09:27you're selling this image that hurts us, which is we get overpaid for little work, and we have no true value.
09:34I don't agree with anyone that puts that out there.
09:36Like, it should never be like, oh, voila, I just sold a $7 million property.
09:40It's a lot of work to sell every property, period.
09:42And even if that's not your experience, I don't like the idea of you promoting that to be the truth, because it's not.
09:48And I think that most agents feel the way I do.
09:52And I know that because if you look at my DMs, thousands of them have comments to say, like,
09:56thank you for showing it, because think about it.
09:57We're out here trying to work and be respected.
10:01We don't need anyone on TV or otherwise promoting the fact that we show up with great hair and great heels,
10:05and that's how we get listings.
10:06It's just not the truth.
10:07Right.
10:08If it was, we wouldn't be working anymore.
10:10Speak for yourself.
10:11We all have great hair and great heels.
10:13You know, so it's not a personal thing for her.
10:16It's just like if I'm saying something, I'm protecting what I believe to be my career and my work that I've built over the time.
10:23I take it personal.
10:24It's my work.
10:24I imagine you'll be hearing from her after Friday, right?
10:26I mean, and I'd say the same thing.
10:28It's like I would never say anything to Chloe about her that I wouldn't say to her about her.
10:32That's just how I feel.
10:33Yeah, totally.
10:34And I do, and I feel like we saw more of that this season, too, where, like, not everything went through.
10:38Like, not everything was, like, a groundbreaking deal.
10:40Like, some things fell through for Ryan especially.
10:42So that was interesting to see, too, that, you know, it's not just, you know.
10:47The work is hard.
10:48And the success rate is low, you know.
10:50And I don't feel the need to, like, harp on that.
10:52But I'm going to call you out if you try to make it seem like that's not the truth.
10:55Because that's not fair to us.
10:56And also, you know, we work on commission.
10:59So the last thing you need is the population or the client base thinking that we're overpaid.
11:04And that's what it looks like when you make our work look easy.
11:07In her defense, she lives her life like that.
11:09Like, that is part of who she is.
11:10Like, everything kind of comes off like it's very easy when, in fact, a lot of it is hard.
11:17I just feel like if you're going on social and if you're going and you're speaking to the public, you can control your message.
11:23And so I would have had that issue with any member of our cast that was, to me, diminishing what it is I do, the skill set that I have, and the talent that I bring to it.
11:31You know, it's just that simple.
11:33You know, that's just how I feel about it.
11:35And I think most professionals would have the same thoughts.
11:38Well, I mean, it's not a nice thing to say, but sometimes reality is not nice.
11:44You know, like, I'm not about saying what's popular.
11:46I'm about saying the truth.
11:48Yeah, totally.
11:49Yeah.
11:49Like, you can love it or leave it.
11:52She's like, I'm friends with her.
11:53I don't know.
11:53I mean, I have nothing to say about Markowski.
11:55But, you know, I'm super cool with Markowski, too.
11:57You know what I mean?
11:57I think I was probably one of the first agents that she met at the firm.
12:00And, you know, her and I, like, we both love fashion and beauty, so we can kiki about that forever.
12:05But I'm still going to call you on your shit.
12:07It's the same, like, with Jade.
12:08It's like, I think Jade is lovely.
12:11But all the things I don't like about Jade, Jade is aware of.
12:13I've spoken to her about it, and I've said it to her.
12:15You know?
12:15Right.
12:15That's just, I show up at Serhant that way, and, again, like it or leave it.
12:19We also saw you audition for Broadway.
12:22It has been a long time since I've sung in front of a casting director.
12:27But I feel like the time away has really made me come into my own.
12:33Be free like the wind on the sea.
12:37What came from that?
12:38Are we still hoping to kind of balance the real estate career with the Broadway career?
12:42We shall see.
12:43You know, I honestly don't know.
12:45I think I'm just in my era of putting myself out there, and whatever is meant to be will
12:51be.
12:51You figured out that work-life balance with the baby?
12:54No.
12:55No.
12:55Like, does anybody ever?
12:56Absolutely not.
12:57It's a lot.
12:58And I think that's probably, if we get a third season, what you'll see me navigating, because
13:03that's kind of the day-to-day.
13:04It's like, how do you do it all?
13:06Right.
13:06You know, I don't know.
13:07We've seen some pretty major sales throughout these first two seasons.
13:11Out of your own sales, and this can even be beyond what we've seen on the show, which
13:15one are you still most proud of or shocked by that it actually went through, that it happened?
13:21I mean, for me, it's Townhouse.
13:22I mean, it was such a big production to do, and it was very scary, and there was a lot
13:27of people involved, and costumes, and an orchestra, and people playing out of windows.
13:31That was so amazing, though.
13:31And thank you.
13:32So, I mean, it just, like, and then for it to have turned into a sale is, like, Jeff's
13:38kiss.
13:39Jeff's kiss.
13:39It was really incredible.
13:41That's amazing.
13:41Congratulations.
13:43I was so excited about that.
13:45And then for you?
13:47You know, every year I have something that I'm super proud of, but I think the one thing
13:50that stands out right now is during the process of filming, I was selling three homes for a
13:54client at the same time and also allowing her to, like, buy a new home, and that was
13:59a lot of moving parts that had to, like, fall into place perfectly.
14:02So big portfolios on both sides, the purchase side as well as the sales side, but the fact
14:06that I was able to get through that, and I don't think till this day she knows that
14:08I was filming at the time, and, like, very hands-on, but, you know, like, if it was three
14:13properties, that was three properties, and only three of ten that I was selling
14:16at the same time.
14:16So for me, I'm always proud when it appears compartmentalized, like, where the client
14:22doesn't really be, is not inconvenienced in any way by the show, and that nothing ever
14:28skips a beat.
14:28So, you know, I think altogether that was an $11 million transaction for her, but what
14:34I'm most proud of is the fact that it goes off, and they're just, like, and I can do
14:38it and still do well with the show and still run my business and still show up in my life
14:42and for myself.
14:43I was nervous to pull that off during filming.
14:47I was like, I'm going to ruin this entire woman's schedule, and, like, everything had
14:50to sell and close at a specific time, and it was the biggest, like, literally logistical
14:55challenge that I've ever had to do in business, and I somehow pulled it all together.
