00:00One month ago, this rainforest was nothing but a barren wasteland.
00:04But as time went on, predators evolved and prey fell.
00:09Even natural disasters would ravage the ecosystem.
00:13But despite the dangers, some animals went on to thrive.
00:17Although it started from nothing, in every blank slate lies a tale waiting to be told.
00:22So here is the story of my 30-day rainforest simulation.
00:30On day one, the beginnings of the rainforest were constructed.
00:34Earth was layered, moss was spread, and plants emerged.
00:41As greenery took over, our journey of life was only just beginning.
00:47Because hidden deep under the soil, something was alive.
00:52There were earthworms.
00:54These creatures are expert dirt excavators helping plant roots spread.
01:00While they dig, earthworms also decompose decaying material within the soil, transforming it into food for the plants above.
01:08With just these little worms and the plants, this ecosystem would be able to thrive for years on its own.
01:15But little did these worms know, there was something else.
01:20Deep inside the luscious vines of the jungle, crickets were breeding.
01:25And while they may look cool, these crickets were very, very hungry.
01:36They were starting to eat every single plant they laid their eyes on.
01:41And as a result, over the next few days, the plants started disappearing at a shocking rate.
01:50The ecosystem was falling apart.
01:52And the worms could do nothing to save it.
01:55Are you serious right now, bro?
01:56The ecosystem needed to be saved, as I still had insane plans for upcoming stuff.
02:02I had to introduce a top-tier predator to the rainforest.
02:05A creature that would demolish the crickets' population.
02:09Let me introduce you to the Australian Whites Tree Frog.
02:13This fierce predator of the rainforest should do the job of eating the crickets perfectly.
02:19And as soon as I let him go, the hunt begun.
02:27The crickets could feel its presence, and they tried to hide.
02:32But it was no use.
02:34The frog had his eye on multiple crickets.
02:39And the helpless insects could do nothing about it.
02:48It only takes a singular strike from the frog.
02:52And with it, he earns himself a nice and tasty meal.
02:57The cricket's population finally begun to fall, as there was a new king of the jungle.
03:02And as the days went on, the ecosystem started to restore itself.
03:08Everything was sustainable once again.
03:11And along with this newfound piece, something else appeared.
03:15A thick and misty fog started to roll in.
03:19While the rainforest had seen some rain prior, today, the forest was about to see its biggest storm yet.
03:27Out of nowhere, thunder appeared, and the rain started to pour down.
03:32This would be a long storm, so the animals had to buckle down.
03:37The frog quickly retreated behind the log, while the worms burrowed under the ground even further.
03:44It was intense, and the wind even blew away some of the leaves.
03:48But after two days, it finally started to calm.
03:52As the rain clouds receded, it was obvious what they had left behind.
03:56A tiny little pond had been formed.
03:58And while it was small, this water would allow for an entirely new type of life to thrive.
04:04In fact, if we zoom in, that life is already visible.
04:10Springtails.
04:10All over the surface of the water were these micro-insects.
04:15In just the few days that it was raining, these creatures rapidly reproduced all over the forest.
04:23But thankfully for us, these guys have no ill intent, as their main purpose is to break down organic matter in the plants and water.
04:30Helping the whole ecosystem to thrive even more.
04:35The little springtails even ventured onto this log to clean it.
04:38But this sustainability would not last very long.
04:42As under this very log, something bad was brewing up.
04:46Over the next few days, an odd sound was continuously growing louder and louder.
04:52There was a new creature alive under this log.
04:56So on day 14, I lifted up the log to expose what was underneath.
05:02Mealworms were in full breeding mode.
05:05These mealworms are different from the earthworms at the start of the video.
05:09As their numbers are much, much larger.
05:13Because of this, they're stripping too many essential nutrients from the soils.
05:17And in turn, they are tipping off the balance of the ecosystem.
05:22The plants once again started to disappear.
05:25And by day 17, these mealworms were absolutely everywhere.
05:30The frog had noticed these new insects and immediately started his hunt.
05:35He tried to eat as many as he could.
05:38But it was no use.
05:41Mealworms breed at a rapid pace.
05:43And the frog could simply not keep up.
05:46And at this state, the ecosystem was once again collapsing at an even more drastic rate than before.
05:52It was time to introduce a new predator to our rainforest once again.
05:57Meet the green anol.
05:59Our ecosystem is about to be introduced to two of these cold-blooded creatures.
06:05And as a result, everything should hopefully be fixed.
06:09So, I added them in.
06:12And almost instantly, they sensed the worms.
06:16Now, they may look small, but these lizards are incredibly fast.
06:21Allowing them to ambush any worm they laid their eyes on.
06:26The green anols sat on a vine, waiting for an unlucky worm to stumble across them.
06:32And while they were waiting, one of them even turned brown to blend in with the stick that he was on.
06:41It didn't take long until their first unlucky victim stumbled in.
06:47And of course, the encounter didn't last long.
06:51The mealworm population finally started to fall, one after one.
06:56Our lizard duo had successfully saved the ecosystem.
07:01And as day turned to night on day 23,
07:05I decided to let a few more crickets into the enclosure to show you just how quick these green anols really are.
07:11Within seconds, the lizards noticed the insects, and their tiny little eyes locked onto their targets.
07:18The crickets had mere moments to be alive.
07:22All of a sudden, one of the lizards dashed into his prey through the darkness so fast that I didn't even catch him eating the cricket.
07:30The earthworms, frog, springtails, and lizards were now thriving together to finish off our rainforest simulation.
07:39And on the final day, day 30, I woke up to something magical.
07:44Flowers had bloomed, and luscious plants were everywhere.
07:47The rainforest was complete, and our remaining animals could live happy together.
07:52Thanks for watching, and I wanted to let you all know this is actually my first ever video.
07:58So to show that you want to see more, it would mean a lot if you could subscribe to the channel.
08:02Also, I'm looking to create a lot of videos similar to this,
08:05so if you have any ideas you'd like to see, comment them down below.
08:09Once again, thanks for watching.
08:11See you next time.
