The US Justice Department has arrested two Chinese men accused of smuggling high-end Nvidia AI chips to China. Prosecutors say they’ve seized over US$50 million in tech and cash made from the alleged two-year-long scheme.

00:08The U.S. Justice Department alleges that these two men obtained NVIDIA's Advanced H-100 and H-200 model AI chips through straw purchases,

00:16then worked with accomplices to alter labels and government forms to smuggle them to China.

00:21Prosecutors say they have seized over 50 million U.S. dollars in tech and cash made from the two-year-long scheme.

00:27The U.S. has banned advanced chip exports to China since 2022.

00:31If charged, the two men could each face between 10 and 20 years in prison and fines of up to 1 million U.S. dollars.
