00:00Japan on Tuesday began to assess damage and caution people of potential aftershocks after a late-night 7.5 magnitude earthquake left at least 33 people injured.

00:12According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, the quake caused light damage and a tsunami in Pacific coastal communities.

00:21Prime Minister Senai Takahichi said an emergency task force was formed to urgently assess the damage.

00:30The officials said train services in coastal counties were halted and thousands of people were left without electricity.

00:52Safety inspections were also carried out at several nuclear power plants after the earthquake learning from the 2011 Fukushima disaster, but no major damage appears to have occurred.
