00:00They are digital natives. They're called digital natives for a reason.
00:04And then let's go back to 20, 30 years before digital natives were even in place.
00:08When I had to send my first son off to school after having him at home and under my care,
00:13you send him to school, you get to worry about everything.
00:16As a mom, I'm sure you can relate.
00:17You worry about him having to cross the road.
00:19You worry about him being bullied.
00:21You worry about him maybe being discriminated against by teachers, etc.
00:24But do you tell him never to go out? No.
00:28You let him go out, but you equip him with the knowledge and the tools to be resilient out there.
00:33How do you cross the road safely? What do you do if somebody bullies you?
00:36Who do you report to?
00:37So these are the lessons that should be mirrored in their life online.
00:42Parents need to equip their children with the same kind of tools.
00:45How do you face this risk? You can't protect them from this risk forever.
00:49And you can't ban them and then expect a 16-year-old, you send them out and then they know everything.
00:54You need to have that gradual and continuous conversations about these things.
