00:00U.S. Institute of Peace Renamed for Trump
00:03Irony drips as the former U.S. Institute of Peace now bears the name
00:08President Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C.
00:12The State Department, yes, you read that right, posted a proud photo of the sign calling Trump
00:18the greatest dealmaker in our nation's history. Secretary of State Marco Rubio chimed in with
00:23his own post, calling Trump the President of Peace. Trump just helped seal another deal,
00:28this time between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, two nations that have been on edge
00:33for decades. He hosted the presidents of both countries twice in one year to get it done.
00:39All this while managing to avoid getting the U.S. into a single new war and allegedly wrapping up
00:45eight conflicts, according to his own tally. Of course, not everyone's thrilled. Former USIP
00:51staffers, who were mostly laid off in March after Trump's Department of Government Efficiency,
00:55yes, that's a thing now, moved to dismantle the bloated, unaccountable institution are outraged.
01:02They've called the renaming an insult to injury. One lawyer even claimed the government's armed
01:06takeover of the building was allegedly illegal. Let's also remember, the court paused the lower
01:11court's ruling that blocked Trump's move to dismantle the agency. The D.C. Circuit Court of
01:16Appeals essentially said, yeah, the president might actually have the constitutional authority to do
01:21this. Apparently, it still matters who was elected to make executive decisions, a fact that some
01:26unelected bureaucrats seem to struggle with. But the message is clear, Trump isn't just reshaping
01:31policy, he's reshaping legacy. And he's doing it in real time, in brick, mortar and bold letters you
01:36can't miss from Constitution Avenue. The critics will scoff, the media will ignore it, and the lawsuits
01:42will drag on. Turns out he just claimed it. Literally.
