To help promote 'Happy Now,' Gang of Four's Andy Gill and John "Gaoler" Sterry discuss their upcoming album as well as their musical influence on today's artists.
Transcript
00:00In a live show, to kind of take people on a bit of a journey and try and kind of build and build and build,
00:05that makes a huge difference, I think, in the live shows.
00:09In just a couple of weeks, post-punk legends Gang of Four released their new album, Happy Now.
00:14Ahead of that, Andy Gill and John Jayler-Sterry stopped by our studio to chat
00:19and got into what it's like to be a major influence on mainstream musicians of today,
00:23including Tom Morello and Frank Ocean. Listen up.
00:27Last night, when we played the Roxy, Tom Morello came down and we had a chat.
00:31And afterwards, he Instagrammed, I think, just saying what an influence the Gang of Four had been on the guitar.
00:37He was very complimentary. And he was Frank Ocean to sample Gang of Four, you know.
00:42And he did everything very properly. He could probably have snuck it in there and got away with it,
00:46but he's like very, got it all signed off, you know. If only we got a slice of their paycheck.
00:51Happy Now is out March 1st. Gang of Four have tour dates through April 12th, ending in London.

00:59Thanks for watching.
