Pristan (2025) is a video work documenting the performative act of pulling a traditional wooden čun ashore, filmed in Rijeka Crnojevića, Montenegro. The action, carried out with the assistance of local fisherman Miloš Vujanović, marks the beginning of the work and initiates the transition of the vessel from its environment into the exhibition space. Drawing on the wider hydrological and cultural context of Lake Skadar, the piece reflects on ancestry, memory, care, and the relationships carried through water, positioning the gesture as a point where personal experience and collective histories meet.
My thanks to Ana Mitrović for her extraordinary eye, photographic skill, sensitivity, and responsiveness; to my father, who supports even my most surreal ideas, and to his loyal men, Sreten Leković and Boris Savić, who are always ready to help. Thank you to Balša Bojović for helping bring the čun into the gallery; to Lenka Đorojević for her counsel, guidance, and generosity in sharing her knowledge; and to Milčik and the Institute of Contemporary Art for the opportunity to showcase this work. Lastly, my deep thanks to Michele Cusolito, my consigliere and my Strombolian rock.
