00:35These are your unbiased updates from Straight Arrow News.
00:41After President Trump called me a traitor, I got a pipe bomb threat on my house.
00:46And then I got several direct death threats on my son.
00:51On your son?
00:52On my son.
00:52Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:54We begin this morning with Marjorie Taylor Greene, speaking out for the first time since announcing
00:58she's resigning from Congress after her very public break with MAGA.
01:03In a 60 Minutes interview, the Republican, Greene, said death threats began after she broke with President Trump
01:10on issues like affordability and foreign policy.
01:13But she says her turning point was the Epstein case.
01:16I stood for women who were raped when they were 14 years old.
01:21And the president that I fought for for five years called me a traitor for that.
01:25And so that changed the landscape of things.
01:29He did this in the same time span where President Trump brought in the al-Qaeda leader that was
01:37wanted by the U.S. government, who is now the president of Syria.
01:41Then, within a week, he brought in the crown prince, MBS, who murdered an American journalist.
01:47And then he brought in the newly elected Democrat Socialist mayor of New York.
01:53That was the time span that he called me a traitor.
01:56In recent months, Greene has broken with her party on health care, the Israel-Hamas war,
02:01and the House's 43-day government shutdown.
02:04She now accuses the president of abandoning his America First promises.
02:08For an America First president, the number one focus should have been domestic policy,
02:15and it wasn't.
02:16And so, of course, I was critical, because those were my campaign promises.
02:21Once we fix everything here, then fine, we'll talk to the rest of the world.
02:25Greene also claims many Republicans privately share her frustration, but won't say it out loud.
02:31I think they're terrified to step out of line and get a nasty truth social post on them.
02:36Behind the scenes, do they talk differently?
02:40Yes.
02:41How?
02:42Oh, it would shock people.
02:45Well, let's shock people.
02:46Okay.
02:47I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks,
02:53making fun of me constantly for supporting him,
02:57to when he won the primary in 2024.
03:01They all started, excuse my language, Leslie, kissing his ass and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time.
03:09Marjorie Taylor Greene is set to leave Congress on January 5th.
03:12Her departure will shrink the Republicans' advantage in the House to 219 to 213.
03:17A new signal from inside Trump world about where the president may be headed on Ukraine.
03:23And now we're hearing directly from Trump himself, as Russia launches another wave of deadly attacks overnight.
03:30At a major security forum in Doha, Qatar over the weekend, Donald Trump Jr. took aim at corruption in Ukraine,
03:36questioned President Zelensky's leadership, and suggested the fight is now far from a top priority for most Americans.
03:43He floated the possibility that his father, who has already pushed Kyiv and Moscow toward a peace deal,
03:50could even walk away if Ukraine doesn't make moves toward peace.
03:54But is your hunch that President Trump is going to walk away?
03:59I think he may.
04:00What's good about my father and what's unique about my father is you don't know what he's going to do.
04:05The fact that he's not predictable, he's not following the playbook of every clown who's, again, been a bureaucrat for decades,
04:12you don't know.
04:15And so that forces everyone to actually deal in an intellectually honest capacity,
04:19which has not happened in far too long.
04:21And now we're hearing from the president himself,
04:24saying last night at the Kennedy Center Honors Red Carpet that he's not pleased with President Zelensky
04:29when it comes to the peace plan.
04:31And I have to say that I'm a little bit disappointed that President Zelensky hasn't yet read the proposal.
04:37That was as of a few hours ago.
04:39His people love it.
04:40But Russia is, I believe, fine with it.
04:44But I'm not sure that Zelensky is fine with it.
04:47His people love it.
04:49But he hasn't read it.
04:51Those comments land just as the Kremlin spokesman is praising the Trump administration's new national security strategy,
04:58saying it aligns with Moscow's desire for dialogue and could improve relations.
05:03All of this unfolding as Russian strikes intensify.
05:07Overnight, Ukraine faced one of its largest attacks in months.
05:11More than 240 drones and missiles launched across the country,
05:14hitting energy infrastructure and killing at least two people.
05:18Zelensky says Russia is targeting peaceful cities.
05:22He is again urging the United States and allies for more air defense.
05:26He also said late last night that he's expecting, quote,
05:29detailed information from Ukrainian diplomats on peace talks held in Moscow.
05:35Elsewhere, another stabbing on Charlotte's light rail.
05:37The second major attack in just a few months.
05:40And now it's drawing attention from the White House.
05:4333-year-old Oskar Solorzano is under arrest this morning,
05:47charged with five counts of attempted murder, plus assault and carrying a weapon.
05:51Police say he stabbed a man on a train Friday night.
05:54That victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
05:58On Truth Social, President Trump called a, quote,
06:01another stabbing by an illegal migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina.
06:05What's going on with Charlotte?
06:06Democrats are destroying it like everything else, piece by piece.
06:10This comes just months after a deadly August attack on the same light rail system,
06:15when a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee was killed in a knife attack that went viral.
06:20The suspect in that case, 24-year-old DeCarlos Brown Jr.,
06:24is facing first-degree murder and federal charges.
06:28President Trump is sending a very clear message to one of the few Democrats
06:32who has stood with him on border security.
06:35No more Mr. Nice Guy.
06:36Over the weekend, the president unloaded on Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar,
06:40the same man he just pardoned last week, on federal bribery charges.
06:44Trump accused Democrats of trying to destroy Cuellar and his family,
06:49but now says he feels betrayed that Cuellar is running for re-election as a Democrat,
06:55not switching parties, after Trump granted him clemency.
06:58In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump called the move, quote,
07:02such a lack of loyalty, something that Texas voters and Henry's daughters will not like,
07:08saying, oh well, next time no more Mr. Nice Guy.
07:11Trump was referencing a letter that Cuellar's daughters sent him,
07:14asking for mercy and compassion for their parents.
07:17Henry Cuellar responded to the president on Fox.
07:21Look, I'm a Democrat.
07:23I'm probably one of the most, if not the most bipartisan Democrat.
07:26And as I told some of my Republican friends on the House floor,
07:30I vote better than some of the Republicans in the Republican caucus,
07:35and they agree with me.
07:36I just feel that, you know, I follow the words of President LBJ when he said many years ago,
07:42I'm an American, I'm a Texan, and I'm a Democrat in that order.
07:47And I think anybody that puts party before their country is doing a disservice to their country.
07:54Cuellar, who's been one of his party's most conservative voices on border security,
07:58also suggested his indictment was politically motivated,
08:02saying he and his wife were entrapped by the Biden Justice Department.
08:06Now to the topic of women in politics.
08:09Michelle Obama's blunt message last month is now getting back up
08:13from one of the most influential voices in Democratic politics.
08:17The former first lady made waves when she told Tracee Ellis Ross
08:20that America still is not ready for a woman president,
08:24pointing to the 2024 election,
08:26and saying the country has a lot of growing up to do.
08:29Remember this?
08:29Well, as we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain't ready.
08:36That's why I'm like, don't even look at me about running,
08:39because you all are lying.
08:40You're not ready for a woman.
08:42You are not.
08:43So don't waste my time.
08:46You know, we got a lot of growing up to do.
08:49Now, House Democratic kingmaker Jim Clyburn is saying she's right.
08:53He told NBC's Meet the Press that history speaks for itself.
08:57Michelle Obama is absolutely correct.
08:59But if you look at the history, we demonstrated that we were not ready.
09:04These are incredible women who have run Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris,
09:09and I think that we are getting there.
09:12That's why we can't afford to turn the clock back.
09:15But Clyburn also insists that not ready doesn't mean to stop running.
09:19He says the next breakthrough may be just before the dawn
09:22and that women have to stay in the fight to get there.
09:25Finally this morning, an unprecedented sight at the Kennedy Center last night.
09:30President Trump took the stage himself to celebrate some of America's biggest performing artists.
09:36This year's honorees, hand-picked with the president's input,
09:39include Sylvester Stallone, Kiss, Gloria Gaynor, and country legend George Strait.
09:45Presidents usually attend the Kennedy Center honors,
09:48but Trump is the first to host the ceremony.
09:50It's also a sharp reversal from his first term when he skipped the honors entirely
09:55after several artists objected to his presence.
09:58Since returning to office in January,
10:00Trump has installed himself as chairman of the Kennedy Center,
10:03removed its longtime president,
10:05and ousted Democrats from the Center's board,
10:08giving him the unusual control over one of Washington's most cherished cultural institutions.
10:14Before we head out, here's what we're tracking today.
10:16This morning, the Supreme Court takes up a major test of presidential power.
10:20Whether President Trump could legally fire a Democratic FTC commissioner.
10:25At 3, Texas Governor Greg Abbott teams up with Turning Point USA
10:29for an announcement at the governor's mansion.
10:32Later this afternoon, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier is set to be arraigned
10:36in the widening NBA betting case.
