00:00Canberrans were back in the water this weekend, bringing the local pool back into focus.
00:08Public pools are, I guess, a fundamental pillar of community.
00:15But community groups are concerned the future of some public pools are in danger.
00:19They're ageing, falling apart, and we will slowly see pools disappear.
00:24They're worried the downward spiral of this site may become a trend.
00:28With Big Splash, for example, being run down and now left to rack and ruin with graffiti, and its future is unknown.
00:36They're also concerned the addition of pools at gyms are not an adequate replacement for public pools.

01:07And that's quite concerning for us, because if we don't have a Civic pool, our sport will die.
01:12It's led to calls for the new Aquatic Centre to have a deep pool, to cater for a variety of sports.
01:17We share the pool with the diving team, the synchronised swimming team, the water polo group, and there's a lot of water polo groups in Canberra.
01:26The new site will have a 50 metre pool and splash play areas, but no word yet if it will feature a diving pool.
01:33So we add events to thehogs that are a game director, so it is a very rich part of the new game so that we don't have to get the chance after the game.
