00:00hello everybody I wanted to set up GeoMyDay if I said it correctly I mean this
00:10word here it's a gopher server I wanted to set it up and share it with you I have
00:16done this in another video that should be uploaded soon but on gentle there are
00:25some steps that are skipped due to the command that allows installing it from
00:31the official repositories of gentle we're gonna simply install it the way it
00:37can be installed on almost any Linux slash Unix machine if it can be installed
00:46on them we see here this link we should open it and a plain file browser I have
01:03done that but let me show you your tab why should we do this it's because the
01:11version is not specified here let's do it like this and enter nothing should
01:21change it should prompt us for a password we can choose the anonymous user we need
01:33to know the newest versions there is 0.99 let's go with it no need for us to let
01:47it load what it loaded and the results are almost are the same nothing change it
01:56here alright so to execute these same commands we should declare a variable
02:07called version since it is using it here so this version equals 0.99 right yes
02:25here it is and then we can copy this command like this which will download it for us
02:39else you should have it no search file tar dot lz
03:060.99 it's here v so
03:19let's change it to the correct one v 0.99
03:33yes yes the next command is the command that is responsible on the on decompressing this thing
03:48which is lzip dash d this was the command I ran few seconds ago pause the video and type it I may need
03:59to put it in to put it in to put it in to put it in the description and now I'm gonna erase it to run the next command lzip dash d of course tab helps a lot every time a specific command is run
04:19lzip okay no problem
04:26y and enter let's run it again ls should give us a file dot tar which is this one now we can run tar xvf
04:48lzip like this and then cd like this yes we can run make which is gonna compile it for us okay
05:12every time I try to run make I got this error the solution should be installing this piece of software
05:24like this let's try again I'm not sure if it is the exact same name for that package whenever it is on a different distribution I guess it is
05:51I guess it is
06:06so far it is in some cases it is dash dev or dash develop
06:18I'm not sure I'm not sure you can try and tell me in case it's different on your distribution
06:24how did I know it is like that this piece of software geo my day my day I don't know how to say it
06:33it is it is in the AUR and whenever I try to install it from the AUR that
06:40that dependency is pulled from that piece of software I mean
06:48libretls is a dependency that is pulled during the installation so I assume it is the solution for this issue
06:59let's install this piece of software like this
07:04alright it is already installed
07:08if we try to run which geo my day
07:14like this we can see that it is there under slash
07:19is slash usr slash local slash pin slash geo my day
07:24okay do we have slash var slash gofer we don't
07:29we need here to make it
07:32the directory slash var slash gofer
07:38we need to make slash index dot gph
07:46and copy it into var slash var slash gofer
07:51I have it in this machine where you see the man page that tells about the steps of installing geo my day
08:02we can simply copy it from there
08:04it's not for it it's for another gofer server built using go lang the language
08:12I just wanted to prove that this piece of software works on gentle so I took this as a sample
08:19SCP let me just do this
08:25okay so that command says that we should copy it into slash var slash gofer
08:37clear out the screen sudo cp index
08:42so that command says that we should copy it into slash var slash gofer
08:46clear out the screen sudo cp index index dot gph var gofer
09:03and then the next command should be this one
09:09and then we may need to verify if it is running by grabbing it
09:24not the full name it will simply look for a part of it
09:30here I believe I use ufw as a firewall in case you do
09:40you will get the command that opens the port for you soon
09:46yes so sudo ufw allow 70 that's the port for gofer
09:58clear out the screen links gofer since this is the machine where it is installed
10:11and the client is where the gofer server is installed we can simply do like this
10:18and it is working
10:20wait let's go to a remote machine and try to do the same
10:27gofer using the ip address of the server
10:31which we can find like this
10:3310.1.0.9
10:3610.1.0.9
10:40links like this
10:43and it is working
10:46yes
10:48we successfully installed
10:51geo my day
10:53following the steps in the man page successfully
11:03I guess that makes it for this video
