00:00:01The following is a live NBC special presentation.
00:00:09Ladies and gentlemen, Jessica Simpson.
00:00:22If only given one wish for Christmas
00:00:27A lot of things would surely come to mind
00:00:34I'd think of everything from snow
00:00:38To trees and mistletoe
00:00:42But only this one wish would touch my heart
00:00:48The only wish for Christmas is you
00:00:54You're the only gift I've ever had to choose
00:01:01Above our present's biggest role
00:01:05You're the greatest gift of all
00:01:09My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:16Your love means more than colored lights
00:01:20More than snowy winter nights
00:01:23Of all the prayers I shed for times
00:01:26But past the beauty of your eyes
00:01:30Of all the things I could receive
00:01:33You're the only gift I need
00:01:36My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
00:01:44My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:49My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:52My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:56My only wish for Christmas is you
00:01:59My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:03My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:10My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:16My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:22My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:29My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:33My only wish for Christmas is you
00:02:39Merry Christmas!

00:03:31Yes! All these happy people here to celebrate the start of the holidays.

00:04:00But now, lighting up the stage is a vocal talent that has been praised throughout the world.
00:04:04He just released his fifth studio album, Illuminations, and seems to be getting better with age, although he's not that old.
00:04:11Tonight, he sings his own rendition of a classic holiday hit, performing the Christmas song, Here's Josh Groban.
00:04:17Chesnaughts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose.
00:04:47Yuletide carols, Yuletide carols, being sung by a choir and folks, Dressed up like Eskimos, Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe.
00:05:10Help to make the season bright.
00:05:17Tiny tots, with their eyes all aglow, will find it hard to sleep tonight.
00:05:33They know that Santa's on his way.
00:05:45He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
00:05:52And every mother's child is gonna spy to see if reindeer really know how to fly.
00:06:07And so, I'm offering this simple praise to kids from one to ninety-two.
00:06:23To all of all it's been said many times, many days.

00:14:14More songs of good cheer from Kylie Minogue and Susan Boyle
00:14:22When Christmas in Rockefeller Center continues
00:14:26Live on NBC
00:14:33And welcome back to Rockefeller Center
00:14:36And our holiday street party with about 500,000 of you
00:14:39Is just getting started
00:14:41And tonight we're being entertained by many of music's biggest stars
00:14:45But the true star of the evening, of course, is that beautiful 74-foot spruce
00:14:50Now let me tell you how it got here
00:14:53A dozen years have passed since Peter and Stephanie Acton moved into this small house in rural New York
00:14:5940 miles north of Peter's place of work in the city
00:15:01As their children, Seamus and Fiona grew, so too, did that huge Norway spruce that was spotted this year to be the centerpiece of this evening's celebration
00:15:11Peter Acton is one of New York's bravest and is proud to be a part of a firehouse based in the Bronx
00:15:18A firehouse that was thrust into the spotlight on that tragic morning of September 11th
00:15:23We just want to do our job, that's the main thing, you know, protect life, protect property
00:15:27And now from his property comes a gift honoring those he works with and those he works for
00:15:34You know, I lost a lot of friends down there
00:15:38To give something back, because the people of the city are amazing
00:15:44When we would go down to the World Trade Center to go search for remains and for people
00:15:57There were people, just regular people that would stay on an island on the west side highway
00:16:05And they'd be cheering for you, they'd hold signs
00:16:07And you'd see them 4 o'clock in the morning
00:16:10And you know, they just made it so much better
00:16:15And I don't even know if they knew how much better they were making it, but they had to do something
00:16:19And to me, that's the spirit of people
00:16:22And this tree, maybe it's a thank you a little bit too
00:16:25To those people that stayed out there on the island
00:16:29And wished us well
00:16:30It's a beautiful gift
00:16:35Speaking of gifted, this multi-talented 18-year-old is quickly proving there is nothing she can't do
00:16:41In 2010, she not only had a top 10 hit, but also joined the cast of the hit show Glee
00:16:46I gotta tell you, if I'm not careful, she might start doing the weather
00:16:49Accompanied by world-renowned music producer David Foster
00:16:51And singing Grown Up Christmas List
00:16:54Please welcome, Sharice
00:17:06Do you remember me?
00:17:10I sat upon your knee
00:17:13I'll roll to you
00:17:15I'll roll to you
00:17:17With childhood fantasies
00:17:22While I'm all grown up now
00:17:27Can you still help somehow?
00:17:31I'm not a child
00:17:34But my heart still can't dream
00:17:38So here's my life on which
00:17:44My grown up Christmas list
00:17:49Not for myself
00:17:51But for the world in need
00:17:55No one life's torn apart
00:18:06That wars would never start
00:18:10And time would heal all hearts
00:18:16And every man would have a friend
00:18:21And right would always win
00:18:25And love would never end
00:18:34This is my grown up Christmas list
00:18:41What is this illusion called?
00:18:45Illusion called, the innocence of youth
00:18:51Maybe only in the light believe
00:18:55Can we ever find the truth?
00:19:00Not for myself, but for the world
00:19:18There'll be no more lives torn apart
00:19:24That wars would never start
00:19:29And time would heal all hearts
00:19:38Every man would have a friend
00:19:42And life would always win
00:19:46And love would never end
00:19:52Ooh, this is my grown-up Christmas gift
00:19:59This is my only lifelong wish
00:20:04This is my grown-up Christmas gift
00:20:10Live, I've lost the love of mine
00:20:24That is my all-time new favorite Christmas song. Just absolutely spectacular performance.
00:20:32And to have David Foster accompany you on the piano, that's not too sure.
00:20:36Beautiful. Charisse, you are a star.
00:20:39Absolutely.
00:20:39Well, have you noticed who else is with us here tonight?
00:20:42Who?
00:20:42Blockbuster, all these headliners here.
00:20:44But we also have the Hilfigers.
00:20:46Yes, Tommy Hilfiger and his extended family.
00:20:49Don't they look great all together?
00:20:51I can see the family resemblance.
00:20:53That's amazing.
00:20:54All right.
00:20:55Well, we've got more wonderful holiday music ahead
00:20:57and we're getting a little closer to adding
00:20:59the world's most famous Christmas tree
00:21:01to the New York City skyline.

00:21:32Here is the unbelievable Jackie Ivanko
00:21:35with Oh Holy Night.
00:21:38The stars are bright and shining.
00:21:51It is the night of our dear Savior's death.
00:21:59The stars are bright and shining.
00:22:12And the stars are bright and the stars are bright and bright.
00:22:17A thrill of love, a weary world who joycees for yonder breaks.
00:22:29A new and glorious love, a thrill of grace.
00:22:41O hear the angel voices, O night divine of the night when Christ was born.
00:23:04O night, O night divine.
00:23:21O night divine of the night when Christ was born.
00:23:51O night divine of the night when Christ was born.
00:24:21O, laughter and sense of faith.
00:24:28Wow, only ten years old and the voice of an angel.
00:24:31Well, of course, I'm here with Brian Williams.
00:24:32You all know him well as the very accomplished anchor of NBC Nightly News.
00:24:36What were you doing at ten years old?
00:24:37Do you remember?
00:24:38I was not singing like that, I'll tell you.
00:24:40That's unbelievable.
00:24:41It just filled this entire cavern.
00:24:43He really has a remarkable talent.
00:24:45Now, what was the Christmas tradition in the Williams household?
00:24:48Jersey Shore Christmas.
00:24:49I'm a proud product of the Jersey Shore.
00:24:52We're all here tonight.
00:24:53That's great.
00:24:54You know what?
00:24:56I'm the dad, so you stay up too late these days, of course, and you were the first up when you were a kid.
00:25:02Wake up.
00:25:02Everyone has hideous bed hair.
00:25:04You know the pictures being taken are going to be used to embarrass you later in life.
00:25:09Open your stuff.
00:25:10Dwell in it all day.
00:25:11Usually something breaks early on in the day, and you go from there.
00:25:15That's right.
00:25:15You count down 364 more days to go.
00:25:18Well, I know, actually, your first job was at a pancake house.
00:25:22Is that right?
00:25:23Perkins Pancake House, Route 35, Middletown, New Jersey.
00:25:26We're proud of it.
00:25:27You've got to embrace it.
00:25:28Thank you very much.
00:25:29I have a lot of coworkers here in the crowd tonight.
00:25:31Did you make breakfast then for the whole family every Christmas?
00:25:33No, I warm something up or put milk in a bowl.
00:25:35No, nothing at all.
00:25:36Once you've worked with pancakes, it's tough to go back later in life.
00:25:41You don't have that flip down?
00:25:42No, I don't have the flip down.
00:25:43Didn't do it very well when I was getting paid for it, either.
00:25:46The moon over my hammy or part of the specialties.
00:25:50All right.
00:25:51Well, Brian, you're going to help me out with our next introduction.
00:25:53For more than two decades, this performer's hit songs have kept us moving,
00:25:57and her new album, Aphrodite, turns up the heat with even more hot dance floor tracks.
00:26:02Singing Santa Baby, here's Kylie Minogue.
00:26:05Santa Baby, just flip the sable under the tree for me.
00:26:24I've been an awful good girl.
00:26:28Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
00:26:40Santa Baby, a 54 convertible to lights blue.
00:26:46I'll wait for you, Santa Baby, I'll wait for you, dear Santa Baby.
00:26:52So hurry down the chimney tonight.
00:26:56Think of all the fun I miss, think of all the fellows that I haven't kissed.
00:27:11Next year, next year I could be just as good, if you'll check out my Christmas list.
00:27:24Santa Baby, I want a yacht, and really that's not a lot.
00:27:31I've been an angel all year, Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
00:27:46Santa, honey, one little thing I really need, the deed.
00:27:53To a place in the mud, Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
00:28:05Oh, come and trim my Christmas tree, with some decorations, got a Tiffany's.
00:28:18Oh, come and trim my Christmas tree, with some decorations, got a Tiffany's.
00:28:48Hurry down the chimney tonight.
00:28:54Hurry tonight.

00:30:10In the light of dayless sorrow
00:30:15Drift away
00:30:16Crown of thorns as men need you
00:30:20Songs of glory sung in hate
00:30:26Won't they destroy what love has made
00:30:31If the kingdom comes, don't wanna be the one
00:30:36That is standing in the way
00:30:40Sure as the wind blows
00:30:44Sure as the river blows
00:30:50We will meet again, oh yes we will
00:30:55On a long road
00:30:58There's a voice in his face
00:31:11They say please call their name
00:31:16I have heard their lies
00:31:19I've heard the people cry
00:31:22Time has come, it's getting late

00:31:54We need Sylvester sing a simple song
00:31:58What they've been saying for, oh so long
00:32:03Love and happiness is what's going on
00:32:09Wind blows
00:32:10Oh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I've heard the one
00:32:11Wind blows
00:32:12Wind blows
00:32:13River blows
00:32:14River blows
00:32:20We will meet again, oh
00:32:22On a long road

00:33:10Oh, fantastic.
00:33:11And we have got a perfect night tonight.
00:33:14Cloudy skies, about 54 degrees.
00:33:16The rain moved through.
00:33:17It is holding off, and that means it is terrific for the half million of you who are surrounding Rockefeller Center getting ready for the lighting of this 78 Christmas tree.
00:33:28Well, the good news is we're coming up on December 25th.
00:33:31And, you know, when you think about it, when you've got a December 25th birthday, as Annie Lennox does,
00:33:38it's amazing that she hadn't done a Christmas album before this, but she now has done one.
00:33:43And singing Lele Lele off of her new album, A Christmas Cornucopia, ladies and gentlemen, the legendary Annie Lennox.
00:33:58Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
00:34:15Lule, lule, my little darling child
00:34:27Bye-bye, lulay, lulay, lulay, lulay, my little tiny child, bye-bye, lulay, lulay.
00:34:44Oh sisters too, how may we do, for to preserve this day, this poor youngling, for whom we do sing, bye-bye, lulay, lulay.
00:35:14Herod the king, in his raging charger he hath this day, his man of might in his own sight, all children young to slay.
00:35:44Then woe is me, poor child for thee, and ever mourn and say, for thy parting, nor say, nor sing, bye-bye, lulay, lulay.
00:36:12Lulay, lulay, lulay, my little tiny child, bye-bye, lulay, lulay, lulay, lulay, my little tiny child,
00:36:42lulay, my little tiny child, bye-bye, lulay, lulay.

00:43:51Well, joining us now on stage, Jessica Simpson.
00:43:54Jessica, good to see you.
00:43:56Good to see you.
00:43:56Well, you know, you just came back from entertaining.
00:43:58We're buddies.
00:43:58Yes, we are.
00:43:59You're Thanksgiving.
00:44:00We're great.
00:44:01I know this.
00:44:02You just got back from entertaining the troops in the Persian Gulf.
00:44:05Speaking of Susan Boyle, an American Idol, in a sense, you had your own American Idol going.
00:44:10I did.
00:44:11We had a Truman Idol out in the Persian Gulf, and I picked this amazing guy, John Britt,
00:44:18and he got to fly home three weeks early.
00:44:20So he's here and got to see his wife and his family and his child.
00:44:26So I'm very excited.
00:44:28He's performing with me tonight.
00:44:29His very first performance live here on NBC.
00:44:32And what were you looking for in a duet performance?
00:44:35I mean, obviously, you want a voice that sort of matches your own, right?
00:44:38Yeah.
00:44:38I mean, he's from Memphis, so he kind of has a Southern vibe to him.
00:44:43So he's got a little bit of a twang, a little bit of an Elvis Presley thing happening.
00:44:47Yeah.
00:44:48He's got a great voice.
00:44:49And congratulations on your engagement.
00:44:51I'm very excited.
00:44:52I'm hiding my rock at the moment.
00:44:54Where are you going to spend Christmas this year?
00:44:56Well, that's up in the air now that we're engaged.
00:44:59We spent Thanksgiving here, so I don't know.
00:45:02I think we'll split it up.
00:45:03I think we'll do the Boston thing because he's from Boston.
00:45:06So we'll do Boston and Texas.
00:45:09Sounds good.
00:45:11I know you love to cook, so I know you're probably going to dabble your family.

00:51:34When we finally kiss tonight, how I'll hate going out in the storm.
00:51:42But if you really hold me tight, all the way home I'll be warm.
00:51:48The fire is slowly dying, and my dear, we're still good-bying.
