00:14:47Is that beautiful 74 foot spruce
00:14:50Now let me tell you how it got here
00:14:52A dozen years have passed
00:14:55Since Peter and Stephanie Acton
00:14:57Moved into this small house in rural New York
00:14:5940 miles north of Peter's place of work in the city
00:15:02As their children Seamus and Fiona grew
00:15:05So too did that huge Norway spruce
00:15:07That was spotted this year
00:15:08To be the centerpiece of this evening's celebration
00:15:11Peter Acton is one of New York's bravest
00:15:15And is proud to be part of a firehouse
00:15:17Based in the Bronx
00:15:18A firehouse that was thrust into the spotlight
00:15:21On that tragic morning of September 11
00:15:23We just want to do our job
00:15:25That's the main thing
00:15:26Protect life, protect property
00:15:28And now from his property comes a gift
00:15:31Honoring those he works with
00:15:32And those he works for
00:15:34You know, I lost a lot of friends down there
00:15:38And to give something back
00:15:40Because the people of the city are amazing
00:15:45And when we would go down to the World Trade Center
00:15:52To go search for remains and for people
00:15:57There were people, just regular people
00:16:00That would stay on an island
00:16:01On the west side highway
00:16:04And they'd be cheering for you
00:16:06And they'd hold signs
00:16:07And you'd see them 4 o'clock in the morning
00:16:10And you know, they just made it so much better
00:16:15And I don't even know if they knew how much better they were making it
00:16:18But they had to do something
00:16:19And to me, that's the spirit of people
00:16:22And this tree, maybe it's a thank you a little bit too
00:16:26To those people that stayed out there
00:16:28On the island
00:16:29And wished us well
00:16:31It's a beautiful gift
