00:21:07All right, our jaw-dropping Christmas tree is just about 90 years old,
00:21:11which seems appropriate considering that this year
00:21:14marks the 90th Rockefeller Center celebration.
00:21:17So it all started right here back in 1931
00:21:20when workers pulled their money during the Great Depression
00:21:24to buy a tiny 20-foot Christmas tree.
00:21:27In 1933, Rockefeller Center decided to make the Christmas tree
00:21:32an annual tradition and held the very first lighting ceremony.
00:21:36And here we are, continuing that legacy all these years later.
00:21:40Really, really cool.
00:21:41So in honor of all 90 of the Rockefeller Center trees,
00:21:44NBC is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation
00:21:46to help plant 25,000 trees.
00:21:49Now that's in addition to the more than 270,000 trees
00:21:53that NBC and the Arbor Day Foundation
00:21:55have already planted together over the past 14 years.
00:21:59The Arbor Day Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
00:22:03And in those 50 years, the foundation has helped plant
00:22:07nearly 500 million trees in more than 50 countries around the world.
