Indonesians in the flood-hit town of Batang Toru began clearing mud and debris from their homes on Saturday (Dec 6), more than a week after deadly floods and landslides devastated communities across Sumatra, killing at least 900 people.

00:27Local officials in Sumatra are urging the national government to declare a state of emergency
00:32to unlock more funds for rescue and relief efforts.
00:36But President Prabowo Subianto said earlier this week that the situation was improving
00:41and that current relief arrangements were sufficient.
