00:00This year's Doha Forum kicked off with a clear message.
00:03Justice in action isn't just a theme, it's a challenge.
00:07And right from the opening ceremony, you could sense the urgency
00:09to turn big ideas into real-world results.
00:14One of the biggest issues on the table,
00:16the growing divide between the global north and south.
00:19The Forum's Executive Director, Mubarak Ajlan Al-Khwari,
00:22told Euro News that many of today's inequalities
00:24stem from systems built without everyone at the table.
00:27And leaders here say that has to change.
00:30And Microsoft founder and Gates Foundation chair, Bill Gates,
00:34added that despite the many challenges ahead,
00:36humans are natural problem solvers, we just need the right tools.
00:40This will be the generation that can solve childhood death.
00:46It can eradicate poverty, it can eradicate polio,
00:50and it can bring down over 95% diseases like malaria,
00:55HIV, and AIDS.
00:58We should not stop with the progress we've made.
01:01Together we can save the lives of millions of children
01:05and empower them, empower them to make great contributions.
01:10And over the next two days, we're expecting some major announcements,
01:13new partnerships, fresh funding, and long-term plans.

01:19and putting justice to action.

02:35The Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Flame has begun its journey,
02:41setting off from Rome on Saturday on a relay across Italy.
02:45The trek covers 12,000 km,
02:50winding its way through all 110 Italian provinces,
02:54before reaching Milan's San Siro Stadium
02:57for the opening ceremony on the 6th of February.

03:04handed off to retired fencer Elisa Di Francesca,
03:07a two-time gold medalist at the 2012 London Games.
03:13She then passed it on to Gianmarco Tamberi,
03:16the 2020 Olympic High Jump champion.
03:20The torch relay, which includes 60 city celebrations,
03:24will be in Naples for Christmas and Bari for New Year's Eve.
03:28In all, there will be over 10,000 torchbearers.
03:36World-renowned Canadian-American architect and designer Frank Gehry
03:41has died at the age of 96 after a short respiratory illness.
03:46He passed away on Friday at his home in California,
03:51said his firm.
03:53Gehry designed some of the most imaginative buildings ever constructed
03:57and achieved a level of acclaim seldom obtained in the architectural world.
04:02His fascination with modern pop art led to many masterpieces,
04:08such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain,
04:11the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles
04:14and the DT Bank building in Berlin.
04:18Gehry's career got off to a slow start,
04:20struggling for years to make ends meet.
04:23But by the end of his life,
04:25he was awarded every major prize architecture has to offer,
04:29including the Fields' Top Honor, the Pritzker Prize.
