01:22We're on our way, Frank.
01:23So they said, well, if we could put people up into zero gravity for two weeks, they'll prove out one aspect of the moon flights.
01:30When 12 rolled around, they said, let's devote a lot of time on 12 to find out how we can really work outside the spacecraft to make sure that everything would work.
01:48And, of course, on 12, Buzz completed three spacewalks, about five and a half hours, I guess.
01:54We were so curious, so excited about being at the moon that we were like three school kids looking into a candy store window, watching those ancient old craters go by.
02:15When we determined that we would get and burn into the lunar orbit on Christmas Eve, we thought, boy, we ought to say something.
02:24What can we say?
02:26And God called the light day.
02:29And the darkness he called night.
02:31And the evening and the morning were the first day.
02:33You know, with riots and assassinations and a war going on, I was part of a thing that finally gave an uplift to the American people.
02:42That's why I say Polo Waite was really the high point of my space career.
02:54Houston, we've had a problem.
02:56We shut down everything we could when we had the explosion.
02:59They said, yeah, we've got a lot of guys working on it down here.
03:03We'll help you out.
03:04And by 13, we're looking at it.
03:06And that's when they started getting that teamwork together.
03:08That was the whole idea of NASA.
03:09New ideas.
03:10What can we do differently?
03:11Perseverance was predominant in the program at the time.
03:14Let's keep on trying.
