Ne Zha II (tentatively titled Ne Zha: The Demon Child Wreaks Havoc in the Sea) is the highly anticipated sequel to the record-breaking 2019 Chinese animated blockbuster. The story picks up directly after the first film’s climactic ending, where Ne Zha and Ao Bing sacrificed their physical bodies to stop the heavenly tribulation, saving Chentang Pass. Though their physical forms were destroyed, their souls were preserved in a magical lotus.
The sequel focuses on the arduous journey to reconstruct their bodies and achieve resurrection. However, a new crisis emerges as the Dragon Clan, feeling oppressed and wronged, refuses to accept their fate. Led by the vengeful Dragon King, they launch a catastrophic plan that threatens the mortal realm. As suggested by the Chinese title, the conflict shifts to the ocean, forcing a spectral Ne Zha to face immense challenges against ancient sea powers to protect his home and secure his return.
