US President Donald Trump has become the first-ever recipient of FIFA’s newly created Peace Prize, presented during the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington on Friday (Dec 5).

00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has become the first-ever recipient of FIFA's newly created Peace Prize,
00:08presented during the 2026 World Cup Draw Ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington on Friday.
00:15The award is widely viewed as a symbolic nod to a leader who has long expressed his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
00:22FIFA President Gianni Infantino, a close ally of Trump, presented the 79-year-old with the honor,
00:28praising what he called Trump's exceptional and extraordinary efforts to advance global peace and unity.
00:36And therefore, FIFA, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, awards the 2025 FIFA Peace Prize,
00:45Football Unites the World, to Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America,
00:51in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world.
00:59Trump received a golden trophy, a certificate, and a medal, which he immediately placed around his neck.
01:05Thank you very much. This is truly one of the great honors of my life.
01:10And beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this. We saved millions and millions of lives.
01:15Trump also took the opportunity to thank the leaders of the 2026 World Cup co-host nations,
01:22Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Scheinbaum as the tournament approaches next summer.
01:29But most importantly, I just want to thank everybody. The world is a safer place now.
01:33The United States one year ago was not doing too well.
01:38And now I have to say we're the hottest country anywhere in the world, and we're going to keep it that way.
