Donald Trump will take centre stage at the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington on Friday, as he is set to receive the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at the Kennedy Center.

00:06The US President will preside over the draw and receive the newly introduced FIFA Peace Prize presented by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
00:16FIFA says the award recognises individuals who unite people and inspire hope for future generations,
00:22though how the winner is chosen remains unclear.
00:25The 2026 World Cup is the most logistically complex in the tournament's history,
00:33taking place across the US, Canada and Mexico next June.
00:37Teams will be split into 12 groups of four for the first time,
00:41with the top two and eight best third-place sides advancing to a new last 32-knockout stage.
00:47The draw will also ensure the four highest-ranked nations, Argentina, Spain, England and France,
00:53will not meet before the semi-finals.
00:56Trump has made the World Cup a centrepiece of his second presidency,
01:00as well as next year's 250th US Independence anniversary.
01:04He has also previously threatened to move matches from Democratic-run cities if he deems conditions unsafe.
