00:00Eugenie's art gallery caught breaching Russian sanctions
00:03The art gallery Princess Eugenie works at is accused of breaching Russian sanctions.
00:09According to the Times, the Hauser and Worth Gallery in London, where Princess Eugenie has
00:14served as associate director since 2015, is being accused of supplying luxury goods to a person
00:20connected with Russia between April and December 2022. The report alleged that they sold the
00:26painting Escape from Humanity by American artist George Kondo to Alexander Popov.
00:31A spokesperson for the Hauser and Worth Gallery said in a statement,
00:35Our UK gallery has been charged with one instance of making an item of artwork available to a
00:41non-sanctioned person connected with Russia. We are fully committed to complying with all our
00:46legal obligations, including sanctions. As the case is ongoing, we are unable to comment further
00:52other than to say we strongly contest this charge and intend to plead not guilty.
00:57Since April 2022, the Department for International Trade has imposed a ban on the export of items to
01:04Russia valued at over $330. Princess Eugenie was reportedly not involved in the sale and does
01:11not sit on the gallery's London board. Alexander Popov is not under the British government's sanction,
01:16and there is no suggestion that he is accused of wrongdoing. Princess Eugenie has enough drama
01:22in her life after her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and her mother, Sarah Ferguson,
01:28were stripped of their royal titles and evicted from Royal Lodge over their connection to Jeffrey
01:32Epstein. While Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will keep their titles, the scandal involving
01:39Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson has yet to die down. The Yorks are an extremely close-knit
01:46family. The disgrace of Sarah Ferguson has followed that of Prince Andrew, who has become an
01:51international pariah, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said. Princess Beatrice and Princess
01:56Eugenie will find their parents' predicament devastating.
