Pats fans listen up- It's your bye week too! Sit back and relax, you are 11-2! Big weekend for the NFL, especially for Patriots fans! Key games could create space for a top seed. Do Patriots need the #1 seed?! #NFL #Patriots
Transcript
00:00And some big games this weekend, Wiggy, and especially with some implications for our beloved New England Patriots.
00:06Yeah, I mean, obviously, the first one that comes to mind is the Bengals going to Buffalo just because that's the team you're going to play next week.
00:16But I think this is another really good game for the Patriots in the sense of, you know, protecting that number one or even that number two seed.
00:24And Jacksonville has taken on the Colts in Jacksonville, and both of those teams obviously are sitting there eight and four.
00:31So that'll create more distance between you and another team.
00:35The Broncos, they'll be going to the Raiders.
00:38That's kind of really a mad game.
00:40And then the Texans are going to be going to Kansas City.
00:44And this is just the whole, well, if the Texans can win, this puts Kansas City one step closer to not making the playoffs.
00:52So that's the game of the weekend, I think.
00:54Yeah, that's a good.
00:54Texans-Chiefs have to win it.
00:57And Texans, like, scare.
00:59They scare Wiggy.
01:00Texans scare some people when it comes to later on.
01:05And, Bill, I mean, that Cincinnati team, I mean, they played the Patriots tough.
01:09It seems like Joe Burrow has a little fire under themselves.
01:16A little fire under them.
01:17And just to be clear, Wiggy, if they lose, aren't they out?
01:19They need to win out the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:21The Chiefs, yeah.
01:23I'd have to, like, kind of really look at it.
01:25But that would be, I think the Chiefs are 6-6.
01:28So if they lost, that means they'd have seven losses.
01:31Right.
01:32And so you'd have to finish at, what would that, they could still finish at 10-7, correct?
01:36Yeah, but I don't think that does it.
01:38Right.
01:38So you have the Chargers are currently 8-4 in their division.
01:40If they lose, the best they could be is 10-7.
01:43And the Chargers would have to collapse down.
01:44Well, but that's another great game, because guess what?
01:47The Chargers on Sunday night, I believe it is, or Monday night, are taken on the Eagles.
01:53Well, Sunday night's the Chiefs-Texans.
01:54So then it must be the Monday night game.
01:56Yeah.
01:57So, I mean, the games, they're getting pretty good.
01:59The slate this weekend is great.
02:00And it's so fun to, like, not have to, not like have to, but you don't, you don't have
02:04to, when the pats are on, you kind of can't miss it.
02:07And it's great.
02:07The team's been worth watching.
02:08But this weekend, it's like, you're 11-2, sitting back in the 1C, just sort of popping
02:13on red zone.
02:13Yeah.
02:14Right.
02:14Relaxing.
02:15It's just so crazy that they're here.
02:17Right.
02:17We were literally doing draft talk a year ago at this time.
02:20Yeah.
02:21And the games, Greg, you're right.
02:22The games this weekend with some of these good games are going to, they're going to create
02:28space for the Patriots for if they do stub their toe a little bit, they'll have enough
02:33space to kind of, hey, maybe it might not be the one seed, but then it could potentially
02:38be the two seed.
02:40So there's going to be some good games this weekend that, you know, if you're a Pats fan
02:45and you want to keep your eyes on, that can obviously create some more space for you.
02:49But some teams that could potentially, you know, get knocked out of postseason play.
02:54Yeah.
02:54I mean, it sounds greedy to say it because Curtis is right.
02:58You were hoping that they were going to double their, like going into the season, you were
03:01like, if they can double the win total and get eight, it would be extraordinary.
03:05Now it seems greedy to say it, but you really want, you got to get the number one seed.
03:12Yeah.
03:12That's what you say that.
03:13Ken Laird is here working hard as always.
03:16You don't need the one seed.
03:18Yes, you do.
03:19Nope.
03:19You're ready.
03:20There's only been one team, right, Ken, that won the Super Bowl that had the one seed.
03:26And so you have the, since they put in the new system where there's seven playoff teams
03:32at each conference, only one of the five Super Bowl champions, the 2022 Chiefs, have been
03:38a number one seed.
03:40So it is not a necessity.
03:43Okay.
03:44And in that case, both teams were number one seed.
03:46So there was no real advantage on either side.
03:48Like this team has played really well on the road.
03:50So maybe, maybe you can argue that as well.
03:53But you don't want to go to mile high though.
03:55You don't want to go to Denver.
03:56We already know how it is up there.
03:57And then Courtney, another great game for you this weekend is your Steelers taking on the
04:01Ravens.
04:01Yep.
04:02And both of those.
04:02Always a rivalry.
04:03Yeah.
04:03Both of those teams are sitting there at six and six and whichever one lose puts a lot
04:08of strain on, on that losing team to, they might not make the playoffs.
04:11You talked about your Pittsburgh Steelers and them.
04:13You said Zay Flowers sucks.
04:15No, I love Zay Flowers.
04:16Zay Flowers, go Eagles.
04:17But if you had to just, just AFC wise, as we sit here this morning, because it's ever
04:23changing.
04:24If you had to rank the top three teams that would scare you.
04:28Okay.
04:30In order, do you have Denver in there?
04:33Yes.
04:34Scare you in the AFC or in the whole NFL?
04:36Just AFC.
04:37No, I wouldn't have Denver there.
04:38No, I'm not afraid of Bo Nix.
04:40No.
04:40How can you not?
04:41Because I'm more Curtis.
04:42I'm not afraid of Bo Nix.
04:43I'm more, I would be more scared of the Texans than I would be the Denver Broncos.
04:48Ding, ding, ding.
04:49I obviously, the Kansas City Chiefs.
04:51Yep.
04:52And then I'd probably go...
04:56Ravens?
04:58Ah, Buffalo Bills.
05:00I'd probably go to Bills and Josh Allen.
05:02Because I wouldn't be scared of the charges.
05:03You're not worried about the Colts.
05:04Nope.
05:05Like, they're fizzling, like you said about COVID.
05:08And Daniel Jones, I think Daniel Jones got, there's something wrong with his foot.
05:12Like, he got a broken bone or something in his foot.
05:14Broken fibula.
05:15Okay, yeah.
05:16So he, if you look at him, he's hobbled.
05:18I'm not really concerned.
05:19You concerned with the charges?
05:20No.
05:20They don't concern me at all.
05:22Steelers don't concern me.
05:23Sorry, Courtney.
05:24The Ravens?
05:26Lamar, but you know what?
05:27He hasn't proven it in the postseason.
05:29Jaguars?
05:29Colts?
05:30I mean, Jaguars?
05:31No.
05:31No.
05:31I would say the, look at how wide, look at the, the NFC, if you go through it, I saw
05:37the Athletic, it was doing power rankings yesterday.
05:40There were only two AFC teams in the top 10, and it's the Patriots and the Broncos.
05:44All the talent is in the NFC.
05:45Like, this season is, it's an anomaly.
05:49Right there.
05:49It is such an anomaly.
05:51Yeah, you got a little bit of luck.
05:53Right.
05:53Next year, don't you think the Chiefs will be better?
05:55Next year, don't you think the Ravens might be healthier?
05:57Next year, the Steelers might even be better?
05:59Like, I feel like right now, I understand your point that if you get the vibe, Greg,
06:03you only have to win two playoff games to get to the Super Bowl, and obviously you'd
06:07rather that.
06:08I just, what has this team, like, what's the, if you were to say the Patriots had a
06:13biggest flaw, what is it?
06:15I would say, oh man.
06:17I would say either their inability to run the football consistently, or their pass defense.
06:23The red zone.
06:25Pass defense.
06:26Yeah.
06:28Yeah.
06:29Maybe.
06:29I mean, earlier, you were worried about protection, because they were giving up a lot of sacks.
06:34They've kind of cleaned that up.
06:35Yeah, I'm not worried about that.
06:36Yeah, and I think Sean was right on that.
06:38A lot of that was Drake May, you know, going out of bounds.
06:40They weren't exactly like hitting.
06:42Maybe Courtney's right.
06:43Courtney, you're probably right.
06:44It's probably their red zone offense.
06:45Yep.
06:46Their inability to score touchdowns.
06:47I think you're right in that home field advantage isn't super necessary, unless you have to go
06:51to Denver.
06:52Like, that's the one place I just, I would be petrified to go to.
06:56I'm not scared of Bo Nix.
06:57I'm scared of being at mile high against that defense.
07:00And Ninkovich said that this week.
07:02Yeah.
07:02That the Broncos scare him because of that.
07:05It's just hard to take Shime seriously in the Pokemon sweatshirt yet again.
07:08Like, it really is.
07:10Super comfortable.
07:10It's nice and oversized.
07:12It's great.
07:12But Curtis, even...
07:13You're so small, you're swimming in it.
07:16I know.
07:16Well, it's also freezing outside, and it's super warm.
07:19Have a bagel.
07:19But Curtis, even with your NFC take, like, I wouldn't be concerned if any NFC...
07:28There are like three shows going on.
07:29Yeah, there really are.
07:30There always are, though.
07:31Sorry, Wiggs.
07:32No, no.
07:32But even with your NFC take, like, I wouldn't...
07:34Wiggy still thinks he's in Brighton where he went this morning.
07:37Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:38But the only team in the NFC that would really concern me...
07:41He really is LB.
07:43He is.
07:43He's LB.
07:44Did you make it to the parking lot?
07:45We're not even talking...
07:46We're not talking about the NFC.
07:48We're not talking about the NFC.
07:49Oh, my bad.
07:49How much money would you have to make to be comfortable in the NFC?
07:53I mean, other than the Rams, I'm not concerned with the Bears.
07:57Were you in the parking lot?
07:59Did you do the Niners?
08:01The Niners and Lions don't scare me.
08:03I don't...
08:04I'm not sold on.
08:06The Lions, I think, are going in the other direction.
08:08I know they beat the Cowboys, but are you concerned with, you know, Dan Campbell calling the offensive plays?
08:14I'm just not concerned with that team.
08:16And you said the Niners?
08:17If it was Mack Jones, yeah, but Brock Purdy stinks.
08:20He's awful.
08:21He stinks.
08:22So, the Rams are the only team that...
08:24How amazing would it be?
08:26Wouldn't it be the perfect end to the last five years that Vrabel and the Patriots make it to the Super Bowl?
08:31It's a home game for the Niners, and their quarterback is Mack Jones.
08:34Mack Jones, yeah.
08:35Oh, would that be awesome?
08:36It'd be nice, though, like, historically, dynasty-wise, it'd be nice to play the Rams.
08:42Yeah, three times.
08:43Yeah.
08:43Oh, this...
08:44You know what it could be?
08:45What would be this...
08:46How many...
08:4685, 95, 2005, 2005, 50-year anniversary?
08:5185 would be 40 years.
08:5240 years?
08:53Yep.
08:54I was born in 84.
08:54All right.
08:55Pats-Bears.
08:57Ooh.
08:57Revenge game for that Super Bowl in the 85 season.
09:02In a battle of the draft, the first pick versus the third pick.
09:04Imagine that.
09:05Pats-Bears.
09:05Pats-Bears.
09:06Pour one out for the fridge.
09:08All right.
09:09I think he's still alive.
09:10I don't think so.
09:11Yeah?
09:12No.
09:12You sure?
09:13He passed away.
09:14Let's Google it.
09:15Sadly.
09:15Did he?
09:16Please.
09:17Yes.
09:17All right.
09:18Very, very sadly.
09:19Were you nicknamed the fridge at the show?
09:21I was not.
09:21I was not.
09:22Still alive.
09:23Yeah.
09:23What?
09:24No, he's dead.
09:25Oh, my God.
09:26Yeah.
09:26You might be thinking of sweetness.
09:28Sweetness has been going along.
09:29Oh, you know what you're thinking about?
09:31He dealt with significant health issues.
09:32Yeah.
09:32No, you're thinking of Mongo.
09:34Do you know what his name is?
09:35I thought we had lost the fridge.
09:38No, we lost Mongo.
09:39What's his name?
09:40The fridge is still running.
09:42The other D lineman from the Bears.
09:44Better go catch it.
09:45The one who used to wrestle.
09:46What's his name?
09:47What are you talking about?
09:48Steve McMichael.
09:50I don't know.
09:50I was talking about Refrigerator Perry.
09:53Oh, okay.
09:54That's what I was talking about.
09:54Yeah, he will be dead by Christmas time.
09:58Unfortunately, that happens.
09:59Happens with the show.
10:00Can we alert his family so they at least go do something?
10:03Yes.
