00:00The race is on to lead the next wave of cleantech innovation,
00:11so we're debating the latest trends in green growth
00:15with guests from Europe and China
00:17in a special Euronews collaboration with CGTN.
00:20Here are some of the highlights.
00:23Who do you think is going to lead the next wave of green growth?
00:27I do see China, Europe, US, as well as many other self-developing countries
00:33really coming together.
00:34China has its own strength in terms of scaling, in terms of pace,
00:39in terms of affordability, driving down the cost,
00:42industrial capability there.
00:44But in the meantime, EU definitely has very strong capability
00:47in terms of investing in innovation, regulation standards,
00:52as well as actually a market there as well.
00:55Climate scientists tell us we need to have a 5% drop in emissions every year
01:00if we want to stabilise global warming.
01:03China is still a huge emitter, but its emissions seem to be flat
01:06or they're falling now.
01:07What's behind that?
01:08I think it's a very interesting market signal towards Europe
01:12that China is well-planned and well-committed to its decarbonisation journey.
01:18decarbonisation is the future and it's time to get moving faster.
01:25And in some ways it's a race, but it's a positive race
01:27because it's one where everybody wins.
01:29We get clean air, cheap electricity, better quality food.
01:33The digital economy is a key engine for a sustainable future
01:37in areas such as artificial intelligence for smart grids,
01:41digitalisation of industries and green fintech.
01:44Everybody is winning with the digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
01:49If we imagine that we are able to share in between China and Europe
01:54digital twins, for example, in industry,
01:58then it means that we will all be able to partner,
02:03to co-develop new platforms and factories
02:06and we will accelerate via the duplication,
02:11the launching of new large projects.
02:15Then we will decarbonise the industry and the world.
02:18Both EU and China have the ambition to be global leaders
02:22to deal with climate change.
02:26and both have the capacity and resources
02:30and innovative power to try to be the leader.
02:36If the two can really come to work together,
02:40I think that will be a blessing to the entire world,
02:44particularly to those least developed countries.
02:47Thanks for watching.
