00:00...time of the year here in the nation's capital.
00:03As Namish Kato would say, Feliz Natal, everybody!
00:06And the Celtics' role players have been on a roll lately.
00:10Jordan Walsh in the starting lineup,
00:12and Anthony Simons bringing the heat off the bench
00:14as the Seas look to stay hot here in the district.
00:17And welcome to Capital One Arena here in Washington, D.C.,
00:37where the Wizards have won two of their last four
00:40going up against a Celtics team that's now sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
00:44Can't wait to watch it with you.
00:44Alongside Brian Scalabrini and Abby Chin, I'm Drew Carter.
00:48And Scal, the Celtics' depth flexing its muscle lately.
00:51Yeah, a big part of the NBA nowadays is having depth.
00:5482 games, you want guys that can contribute.
00:57And how do you do that?
00:58First, you build trust in the coach.
01:00Then you learn your position.
01:02Then you thrive at your position.
01:03Then you excel at your position.
01:05These guys are all getting opportunity,
01:07and they're all thriving at different things.
01:09Whether it's a big-time shot, a big-time rebound, a hustle play.
01:12Guys are finding different ways to make winning plays,
01:15and that's how you build trust, and that's how you build a great Celtics team.
01:21Celtics basketball on NBC Sports Boston is brought to you in part by TD Bank,

02:00You feel like your team is starting to understand, like, what your plan is
02:04or the coaching staff's plan or the Celtics' plan when they're unfolding, you know,
02:11their season-long journey.
02:13Not necessarily your top dogs who are, you know, those guys have played a lot,
02:16but what about the rest of the guys?
02:18No, I mean, it's not the coach's plan.
02:19It's our plan, you know, as a team.
02:21I mean, it's, you know, we're all in this together.
02:22We all have an understanding what the process of winning looks like
02:25and going after that together and what that is.
02:28And, you know, like you're saying, there are guys on the team that are at different journeys,
02:31you know, whether it's, you know, people who are on their third year, their first year.
02:35And so I have an understanding of learning the league, learning our system,
02:38learning the mindset, learning that day that it takes.
02:40Obviously, everyone's on a little bit of a different path, you know,
02:43but we're all on the same page about what the process of winning looks like
02:45and, you know, how we have to get there, and we just got to keep chipping away at it.
02:49Historically, you've had Tatum, Brown, Tatum and Brown, one or the other.
02:53Now you don't have either one of those guys.
02:55Is there some uneasiness, or how do you go into,
02:58how do you feel about going into a game without it?
02:59There's obviously an identity to the names that you mentioned,
03:02but there's also a way we play regardless of who's in, who's out.
03:05And I think, you know, over the last, especially three years or so,
03:08whoever's in, who's out, we play to the Celtic identity,
03:10and I think that's the goal for tonight.
03:11We have to do a great job of just playing to the process of, you know,
03:14plugging guys in and playing to our identity.
03:16All right, appreciate the time, Joe.
03:17All right, Derek White has been on fire lately,
03:20and 15-1 career against the Wizards.
03:24Celtics-Wizards coming up.
03:38It comes from the desire to win,
03:40the desire to want to see this team get to the highest level
03:43and maximum potential possible.
03:45We're going to keep climbing, keep going up and up,
03:47and building our chemistry together so that by the time the end of the season
03:49comes, we'll be in the right place at the right time
03:51and be able to make a push.
04:01All right, the Celtics trying to keep the good times rolling
04:03as they enter the nation's capital.
04:05Let's check the starting lineups brought to you by Jordan's Furniture.
04:10Experience the difference.
04:11Sam Hauser slides in with no Jalen Brown tonight
04:14for the first time this season.
04:16For the Wizards, Jamir Watkins,
04:17a two-way player out of Florida State.
04:20He starts at the three with a couple of veterans around him,
04:22C.J. McCollum and Chris Middleton.
04:24Key matchup presented by Subaru of New England.
04:26Fall in love with a brand-new all-wheel-drive Subaru.
04:29These are the numbers for the season,
04:31but C.J. McCollum is on a heater lately,
04:33so we've got to watch out.
04:34You can't let him get going early,
04:36and I expect a big name from Derek White.
04:38Neither of us picked him as our step-up guy.
04:40I hope he proves us wrong.
04:41Yeah, bulletin board material.
04:43He's going to take it personally.
04:44We didn't choose him as our step-up guy.
04:47Let's check the health report by South Coast Health,
04:50providing exceptional care from people who care.
04:53Mentioned Jalen Brown out for the first time this year.
04:55He was 21 for the first 21,
04:58so, of course, no Jays for the Celtics.
04:59The Wizards are banged up.
05:01Alex Saru's having a great second season.
05:02He's out.
05:03But Al Kulibali is also out.
05:05Trey Johnson, who they drafted sixth.
05:07Also out.
05:07Corey Kispert, the veteran shooter, also out.
05:10So the Wizards at 3-17 with some injuries that they're managing.
05:19Feels fitting that the Celtics wearing black against the Wizards.
05:22You remember back in 2017, that playoff series,
05:25the Wizards, John Wall, Bradley Beal,
05:26they wore their all-black outfits to the arena
05:29for the quote-unquote funeral game.
05:32Didn't really work out for them.
05:34That was during the regular season,
05:35then the Celtics did it in the playoffs.
05:36Yeah.
05:36We haven't heard from them since.
05:39They've been one of the worst teams in the league since then.
05:41The Celtics, of course, one of the best.
05:43The Wizards in their City Edition uniforms.
05:46Yeah, shout-out to the DMV.
05:48This year, it's more like the MV.
05:50No D being played by the Wizards this season.
05:53Well, I guess the rumor is Watkins is his big-time defensive player.
05:57And you can see it in the numbers.
05:58The Wizards dead last in defensive rating.
06:00Coming on pace to be the worst defensive teams in the play-by-play era.
06:04More on that in a moment.
06:06James Capers get him in.
06:07As Petritus, Danielle Scott are officials this evening here in Washington, D.C.
06:13Walsh inside to Keita for the first juice of the game.
06:16Good ball movement, great spacing.
06:17Keita starts off hot once again.
06:20What a year it has been for Namiish Keita against the Wizards about a month ago
06:25at an incredible game.
06:27Made some Celtics history, first player with 15 points, 10 boards,
06:31shooting 100% and five assists.
06:34As Chris Middleton gets on the board for Washington.
06:38That shouldn't happen.
06:39Guy getting wide open layup, first possession of the game.
06:42That was McCollum to Middleton,
06:44the two elder statesmen on this Wizards team
06:47that's one of the youngest in the league.
06:49Here is Watkins playing defense on Pritchard.
06:53Now White trying to get by Keyshawn George.
06:55Nice move from Derek White.
06:56Take that, Drew Carter.
06:58Not picking me as my step-up guy.
06:59You didn't either.
07:00I know I didn't have you, Pritchard.
07:02But I hope, like I said, he is due for a big game.
07:06He is due.
07:07The light was terrific down the stretch of the Celtics' win over the Knicks Tuesday.
07:15Here is Middleton defended by Pritchard.
07:17Tough position for Pritchard.
07:19And Middleton over the top.
07:20Too much size.
07:21If Pritchard does have a weakness defensively, it is that.
07:25Not a guy backing him into the post, but getting a live dribble in the post.
07:31Why is that?
07:32Because they can shoot over the top?
07:33Yeah, guys who can just turn and fire.
07:35Those are the ones that he struggles with.
07:37I mean, historically.
07:38Oh, nice touch from Kata.
07:40Nice.
07:42I mean, it's just like he can't do anything about that.
07:45But usually Pritchard's a big-time position defender.
07:48He keeps guys awake from those spots.
07:52There's Marvin Bagley.
07:53Good contest from Kata.
07:55Out of bounds.
07:55Off of Pritchard.
07:56Yeah, Pritchard at 6'1".
07:58Middleton at 6'7".
07:59Guys can't really go through him, but over him maybe.
08:01This is tremendous skill right here.
08:04And you know Kata's working on his game.
08:06That 14-foot push shot, it's a shot that most bigs you want to have,
08:10but most guys don't have.
08:12That was a good look from the dunking cam.
08:14It's all about the dunk.
08:15That's a shot that your boy Jakob Pertl used to score 35 at the Garden
08:18a couple years ago as that goes out of bounds.
08:24Celtics ball?
08:25Or is it?
08:26Yeah.
08:26That's a smart play by Walken because it has to go out all the way down here
08:32as opposed to if he touched it, it would be at half court.
08:41And the Celtics playing really well lately in their last five games.
08:44They have four wins over Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland, and New York.
08:50And Joe Mazzouli using that small ball lineup,
08:53and they're starting to really work out for them.
08:56It's hard to play small in the NBA.
08:58There's a lot that goes into it.
08:59The Celtics are sort of figuring it out.
09:04Now George trying to back down Pritchard,
09:06learning just what we talked about.
09:07It's hard to move that guy.
09:09Foul is on Peyton Pritchard.
09:12I care nobody's going to double team.
09:13A guy using his dribble to back Pritchard down,
09:16as soon as he picks it up, Pritchard could take up that space.
09:18It's when they get a live dribble, and they can shoot over the top.
09:23McCollum pulls the trigger on a three.
09:25Hauser with a nice box out of Watkins.
09:28Celtics in the top six in the East for the first time this season.
09:32Hauser for a three.
09:33We've seen him light this building up before.
09:36That's right.
09:37We were thinking big-time Clay Thompson type of game records.
09:42Nice hands from Jordan Walsh.
09:44The pilfer and the punch.
09:45Jordan Walsh.
09:47Early timeout, Brian Keith.
09:50The Winchester native, Brian Keith, Wizards head coach, has seen enough.
09:55Good start for the Souths here in D.C.
09:56A big steal and bucket from Jordan Walsh.
10:04As Jalen Brown told us the other night, Jordan Walsh playing like a grown man right now,
10:10especially over the last two games.
10:12Take a look.
10:13Here's to the doers.
10:14It's presented by Honeydew.
10:16Don't miss out on their Get One, Gift One gift cards going on right now.
10:21Jordan, over the last two games, shooting eight for 11 from the floor,
10:27averaging nearly a double-double with ten offensive boards over the last two games.
10:32Oh, by the way, the Celtics have won seven of their last nine
10:36since Jordan was inserted into the starting lineup.
10:39He did a little bit of everything to close out the Knicks on Tuesday night,
10:43and afterwards, Jordan told me the game has slowed way down for him.
10:47He's more calm, more focused out there, taking it one day, one possession at a time.
10:52But he does say that trust that Jalen Brown showed in him at the end of that game,
10:58he said that is huge, not just for me, but for our entire team.
11:02People have got to realize that when you're picked in the second round,
11:06you have to fight and claw just to play in vain.
11:10But ultimately, if a guy like that works out, it's massive for your team.
11:15You need your second-round picks to pan out.
11:17You need your late first-round picks to pan out.
11:19It's not just the top guys.
11:21And Jordan Walsh has improved so much,
11:24and he's like a solid rotational player that people around the league are talking about.
11:28Jalen Brown, Middleton.
11:30JB didn't love Jordan's pink sweater after the game as Hauser missed a three,
11:35but said, when you're playing like that, you can wear whatever you want.
11:38Jordan was wearing a loud pink sweater postgame against the Knicks
11:43when he really was massive down the stretch, those back-to-back putbacks.
11:48Helping the Celtics hold off a fourth-quarter comeback.
11:50Nice save from White.
11:53Keyshawn George ends up with it, though.
11:56It was a change of possession, so a fresh 24 for the Wizards.
12:01Here's George, second-year pro from Switzerland,
12:04having a nice second season, and he drops that in.
12:07Keyshawn George!
12:09I like him.
12:10I like his size.
12:10I like his ability to run pick-and-roll.
12:12Richard sees two, finds the open man.
12:22It's White.
12:23And a foul on Keyshawn George, the Wizards first.
12:26Wizards foul against number 18, Keyshawn George.
12:29So Washington lost 14 games in a row,
12:33but since then they've won two of their last four.
12:35They beat the Hawks and the Bucs.
12:37Yeah, I mean, T.J. McCollum is gone.
12:39Duke-heeler in those games, and that's why they're winning.
12:41They don't guard anybody, so it's really about, you know,
12:45how good can they be offensively.
12:50White with five to shoot inside to Kata.
12:52Two more for Nehmi.
12:53He's got six.
12:55All NBA offense is worth when you have a rim-running threat.
12:59Kata has turned himself into that.
13:00He stepped out.
13:02Yes, he did.
13:03Out of bounds on McCollum.
13:05Celtics ball.
13:05Step in the baseline.
13:07Decision to Boston.
13:11Dwight the catch and fire.
13:19Hauser had the offensive rebound for a second,
13:21and a foul is called on McCollum.
13:24Lose ball foul against Washington.
13:26Number three, C.J. McCollum.
13:28Every time he's checking in,
13:29it's a good opportunity for him today.
13:30I think he gets extended minutes,
13:33maybe 27, 28 minutes out there.
13:36And for him, it just takes a few buckets.
13:42Pritchard takes a seat.
13:46Almost five minutes in, Celtics have a five-point lead.
13:48Again, it's Kata climbing the ladder.
14:02His catch to finish is so much better.
14:05I mean, we're only a month into the season,
14:07a month and a half.
14:08How can he improve that much in a month and a half?
14:10McCollum fouled by Simon, shooting a three.
14:18Yeah, go back.
14:19Look at Kata on the catch.
14:21Look how quick he decides to go up.
14:25Not only that,
14:26but you also have him ghosting the screen,
14:29reading that.
14:30He puts a ton of pressure on the defense.
14:34And at the beginning of the year,
14:36he would stay with the screen too long.
14:39He would roll,
14:39and he would not want to catch and go up right away.
14:43The margins in the NBA are so small.
14:45That's a massive improvement.
14:46Check the comforts of home presented by Bernie and Phil's.
14:49The Black Friday savings have been extended
14:50at Bernie and Phil's.
14:52Save up to 20% plus special doorbuster savings.
14:56We talked about Wizards playing no defense.
15:00They're allowing more than 127 points per game,
15:02which is on pace to be the second most all-time.
15:04Only the Nuggets, back in 1990-91, gave up more.
15:09That was a team coached by Paul Westhead.
15:11They also led the league in scoring offense,
15:13but their problem was the defensive side
15:16with that breakneck pace they played.
15:18The leading scorer on that team was Michael Adams,
15:21a BC guy and a native of Hartford.
15:28White off the mark.
15:29Rebound Jordan Walsh.
15:30Been doing a lot of that in the last couple of games,
15:32but he doesn't like the Garbage Man nickname,
15:34so don't call him that.
15:37Here's Simon, steps into one.
15:40Marvin Bagley, the rebound.
15:43Hit it ahead, McCollum.
15:46Picked up by White.
15:47That was our key matchup before the game.
15:51They run the offense through this guy,
15:52the veteran McCollum,
15:53almost a 20-point-per-game score for his career.
15:56Yeah, on that drive, he used that right arm to clear some space.
16:00He didn't call it because he got away with it.
16:02Nice move.
16:07Midway point of the first quarter.
16:09K to the top scorer with eight.
16:10Hounded by Bagley here, looking for some help.
16:15Late shot clock situation for White.
16:17Four on the 24.
16:19Knocks in the triple.
16:21That was tough.
16:24Derek White come to play.
16:26And D. White has now made a three-pointer
16:30in 60 consecutive games,
16:33extending his own Celtics record.
16:36There's the steal by White.
16:37He and Hauser combined for it.
16:39Now riding shotgun is Hauser.
16:41White takes it himself for two more.
16:44Good unselfish play by Hauser.
16:46An excellent finish by Derek White.
16:49Celtics last in the league in pace,
16:51but you see the Wizards give up points in droves,
16:55including in the fast break.
16:58George hesitated for a second,
16:59but switched the three.
17:07Simons on that snapback dribble.
17:10Cato looking to free him up with his screen.
17:12Watkins chasing Simons,
17:14who rises up and missed the shot.
17:18Celtics have swept the season series with the Wizards.
17:20Two years in a row.
17:22Nine straight in this series overall for the Seas
17:25as Cato yanks down the rebound.
17:30It's White.
17:34Tied to save his own miss,
17:36but stepped out of bounds.
17:37Wizards ball.
17:38Derek White's playing great right now.
17:40Look at how active he is.
17:41Give me that.
17:43Hauser rewarding D. White with a layup.
17:46There's got seven points,
17:50one rebound,
17:50two assists.
17:53And as a team already,
17:54seven fast break points for the Celtics,
17:56outscoring the Wizards,
17:57seven nothing in that category.
17:59Hugo Gonzalez getting ready to check in.
18:01And the trend we've seen from the Celtics
18:08last couple of games.
18:11When Cato plays,
18:13they're a big plus,
18:14and then when he goes to the bench,
18:15they go small,
18:16and they're also a plus in those minutes.
18:18Yeah, recently.
18:18I think they figured out some things.
18:24A steal by Walsh.
18:26Put a whistle and a foul, though.
18:27They got Cato on it.
18:30Cato's first.
18:30Cato's first.
18:36All right, see this.
18:38There's the drive.
18:39There's the contact.
18:40Fine.
18:43He just slipped.
18:48And Will Riley.
18:51You know, Will Riley played prep ball
18:54up in New England.
18:57Canadian rookie,
18:58played his college ball at Illinois.
19:01But Carrington too strong on a jumper.
19:04You ever work out, Will Riley?
19:06No, I didn't even know he's from the area.
19:08I saw him giving Newman business.
19:13You didn't text him?
19:14Hey, man, you'll figure out the league soon,
19:16like you did with Cooper Flyer?
19:18So, the numbers don't lie, man.
19:20Ever since I texted him,
19:21go look at his numbers.
19:25Scal fixed Cooper Flyer again.
19:27Well, I mean, people were throwing shade at my guy,
19:29so I just, I hit him with a,
19:31numbers are not that far off from LeBron,
19:33his first 13 games.
19:35And since then, he's been killing.
19:37You texted him,
19:38you're closer to LeBron than I am to you.
19:43Here's Simon's plot.
19:44And that is true.
19:46Actually, LeBron's closer to him than he is to me.
19:51All-timer.
19:52Out of bounds off of Carrington and Washington.
19:55Here is a small lineup for the Celtics.
19:57Minot playing the five with Gonzalez,
20:00Hauser, White, and Simons.
20:03See the Wizards, the turnovers.
20:05They're 28th in the league,
20:07protecting the ball,
20:07averaging more than 16 per game.
20:09Celtics best in the league
20:10at around 11 per game.
20:13Hauser, the pump and go around McCollum,
20:15finds Simons.
20:17Drives it, kicks it,
20:19Minot shoots it,
20:20and knocks down the throw.
20:21There you go.
20:22That's your guy.
20:24Minot's supposed to have the big night.
20:27I had Josh Minot as my step-up guy.
20:28Yeah, that's a good way to start it.
20:30Out of bounds off of Vukcevic.
20:40Tristan Vukcevic, the big man.
20:42The only thing I would say about that is
20:45guys were leaking out on that shot.
20:47Everyone's got to rebound when you're small.
20:49You can rebound and get out
20:51after you secure that ball.
20:55Celtics 30th in the league
20:56in defensive rebound rate.
20:58Wizards right ahead of them in 29th.
21:00Bottom two in the league.
21:03White again.
21:04That's silky smooth.
21:06Right now, the Celtics are just spreading you out
21:07and taking the matchup that they like.
21:21There is Will Riley.
21:23Too strong on a triple.
21:24Minot upstairs for the rebound.
21:26McCollum took it away.
21:27Vukcevic will give him a third chance.
21:29In this one, they cash in.
21:31And Joe Mazzula takes a timeout.
21:32That's not what he wants to see.
21:34Yeah, he's not going to like to fake that fight.
21:36I got that ball stripped.
21:39Good luck.
21:42On the left.
21:43Reminder, the Los Angeles Lakers
21:45are coming to town tomorrow.
21:46Score seats now for a high-intensity
21:48Friday night matchup at TD Garden.
21:51More information, visit Celtics.com slash ticks.
21:56Maybe you'll get a chance to see Kata staying hot.
21:58He's 18 for his last 19.
22:01Here he is working that dunker.
22:02Go to the other side of the rim.
22:03I love this push shot.
22:05Working on that skill.
22:06And then, sometimes it's cool just to get that easy layup.
22:10And then, why don't you throw it down just for the people back home?
22:13Or Chris Breen, who drove all the way from Toronto to watch Kata.
22:19And Breen will be at the Lakers game tomorrow.
22:21Four and five for him.
22:23He's no load management for him.
22:25No.
22:26And he ain't flying private.
22:28He's driving through snow storms and stuff, our friend from Toronto.
22:32Celtics will see the Raptors this weekend.
22:35Here's Pritchard.
22:37Minot, good hands on the offensive rebound,
22:39but taken away by George for the Wizards.
22:41Cam Whitmore.
22:42It's going up, and Ugo goes out.
22:45The chase down block.
22:48Oh, Vukcevic getting fancy.
22:51Oh, man.
22:51Three ball from Riley.
22:53This is a highlight.
22:53That's a highlight.
22:57Sweet pass.
22:59That's a sweet block by Ugo.
23:03Simon's flying in.
23:05Oh, wow.
23:06No, Vukcevic does have a Serbian passport.
23:08He looked a little like Jokic on that pass.
23:10There's Riley on the feed to Whitmore.
23:11Oh, and lost his shoe.
23:18The young guns for the Wizards making plays.
23:20How about for the Celtics?
23:21Gonzalez for three.
23:23Yeah, he's so good.
23:24Oh, Brian, keep storming.
23:28Brian, keep having all of his boys back home watching.
23:30And we can't give him a wide-open shot.
23:32Brian, the guy lost his shoe.
23:35Give him a break.
23:35Timeout, Wizards.
23:36Timeout, Wizards.
23:44Sweet play.
23:45I'll roll with him any day of the week, twice on Thursday.
23:50Ugo really helped flip that Knicks game in the second quarter.
23:53In addition to, of course, Jalen Brown, who took over 33 points in the second and third quarters combined.
23:59George weighs short.
24:02Gonzalez, the rebound over to Pritchard, who's back in the game with under a minute to play in the first.
24:07Five-point lead for the Celts.
24:08Now, that's a foul.
24:12Gonzalez got pushed by Will Riley.
24:14He makes so many winning plays.
24:17I love the way we're playing right now.
24:19Pritchard right there, drove to the basket.
24:21Two-foot jump stop.
24:22Derek White came with the fill behind.
24:25Ugo's crashing the glass from the corner.
24:27No stone unturned here with these guys.
24:34That's a free throw.
24:35Yeah, free throw in the ball.
24:39Man, I got to send little Scali to Real Madrid.
24:43What am I doing?
24:45Yeah, you're late.
24:45How old is he, 12?
24:46Yeah, he's got to go.
24:47You got to get him there in the house.
24:48Man, you know who would be happy?
24:49Mrs. Scali would be happy right now.
24:52She gets to go to Spain, you know, about five times a year.
24:55I thought you meant it's because he's going to be out of the house.
24:57And that, too.
25:05We could go out there and call some of the games.
25:12Man, let's do it.
25:13Oh, this sounds fun.
25:17Let's get the Celtics.
25:18I'm serious.
25:19I'm going to get this to go.
25:20We're going to use some black years white.
25:24Ugo had his hand on another one.
25:26That's our ball.
25:27Yeah, up, Celtics ball.
25:27There we go.
25:29Ugo, man, leading the way for the Tommy Award so far.
25:32I was going to say, no spoilers.
25:34No, no, no, I'm not guaranteeing anything.
25:35Things change in the game, but right now he's making plays.
25:40You can feel his presence in this game.
25:42He's played four minutes in the opening quarter.
25:46Celts with a six-point lead, two for one.
25:48Pritchard off balance, three doesn't go.
25:50Had a ten-second difference.
25:52Shot clock and game clock.
25:55Wizards are two and six here at home.
25:57Just one and 11 on the road.
25:59Whitmore loves to shoot.
26:01Left it short.
26:01Riley, the offensive rebound.
26:05Keyshawn George will hoist.
26:07Hand hit a three.
26:08Pretty good, man.
26:09He's good.
26:09Got great size, too.
26:11He has that heart and the brain and he's competitive.
26:14He's going to be a good player for them.
26:17Got the heart and the brain.
26:18If he does.
26:19Can't be in the Wizard of Oz.
26:21He's two for three.
26:22If he does.
26:23Impressive second year for him so far.
26:26White beats the horn.
26:28And Derek White finishes the first quarter with 12.
26:30Man, Derek White is making us look foolish, Drew Carter.
26:34He's got our step-up guy so far.
26:37He should have picked D. White.
26:39He took it personally.
26:4112 points for Derek White.
26:42The Celtics have a six-point lead.
26:45Here in the nation's capital after 12 minutes.
26:47Every lawyer's official injury law firm of the Boston Celtics.
26:56Injured?
26:56Better phones don't.
26:57Yeah, a lot of good stuff with the fast break points and the low turnover.
27:01I do think that Washington is looking to hit the glass a little bit more than I like.
27:14Baylor Shireman getting his first run today.
27:17Celtics still with his small line up.
27:19Gonzalez came down for the strip and fouled Will Riley.
27:24What Ugo doesn't realize is he might not have hit him with his strong hand,
27:28but his offhand comes over.
27:29His left hand hits the body.
27:31So you really aren't going to get that.
27:38I like the aggressiveness.
27:40I can't fault him for being aggressive.
27:43That's a 19-year-old fouling a 19-year-old.
27:48I wonder how many times that's happened in NBA history.
27:51Dick Leip.
27:52Get on that.
27:54He looks at him.
27:56I can see him right now.
27:57He rolls his eyes.
27:59He acts like he's not going to do it.
28:00And then he starts piping away.
28:06He cannot believe you just asked.
28:08And then 30 seconds later, he's got the answer.
28:10Like, when I say, man, I ain't doing that.
28:11I really am not doing that.
28:13Dick Leip will do it.
28:15There's Pritchard going behind the back,
28:17trying to deal with Whitmore.
28:19That touched, like, five different guys on the way to Minot.
28:23Oh, cleaned up by Pritchard.
28:26Playing volleyball at the rim.
28:30He's playing great lately.
28:3416 points in back-to-back games for the Wizards.
28:43Another Real Madrid product.
28:45Oh, really?
28:45Yes, he is.
28:46Oh, nice shot.
28:52Pritchard for three.
28:53That is new.
28:54That is a jump stop quick release.
28:57Very Steph Curry-like.
28:59Nice five.
28:59I haven't seen him take that shot.
29:01Made it over a seven-footer in Vukcevic.
29:03Maybe caught him off guard.
29:05Gonzalez again.
29:06Whistled for the shooting foul.
29:08That's two quick ones on Ugo.
29:12Let's go back.
29:13Pritchard on the tip end.
29:18Here's Pritchard reading it perfect.
29:22Paints point B.
29:25I want to show you this three.
29:27It's like what I usually is the left-right guy.
29:30His feet left-right.
29:32Watch this one as he goes left.
29:34Look at the feet.
29:35Jumps off.
29:35Pop.
29:36There is something that he can build off of.
29:40I know it's like a small thing, but, like, when I see that,
29:43it makes me think, oh, he's not as good shooting left
29:46as he is going right.
29:48And having that in his game makes him just that much more dangerous.
29:52Leveling up, adding another skill to his repertoire,
29:56or his bag, as the kids say these days.
30:00Shireman, the drive-and-kick.
30:01Minot off the side of the backboard.
30:03Jobs trying to get back into play, chasing down Will Riley, who's got it.
30:08Block by Walsh.
30:09Just checked in and says, get that out of here.
30:11And now Walsh the trailer.
30:16What a sequence for Jordan Walsh.
30:19A block on one end, the end one on the other.
30:24Yeah, and a block started the fast break.
30:26You try that decel step, Jordan Walsh says, get it out.
30:28And then the fast break puts pressure on the defense.
30:32That's creating gravity.
30:33And Jordan Walsh attacking the catch.
30:38You're seeing this in the league all over the place.
30:40Guys just want to get the ball to the paint.
30:43And then make the play.
30:45It might be a kick out for a three.
30:46It might be a kick out to a drive.
30:48But one thing or another, you can get to the paint
30:49and don't have to shoot it and kick that thing right back out
30:51in transition, high, high points per possession play.
30:58Good things happen when you get into the teeth of the defense.
31:02Is George on the step back?
31:03That's a tough one.
31:05DeSean George hits it.
31:06He's into double figures.
31:12George now defending Pritchard.
31:16Just over two minutes into the second quarter,
31:18Pritchard gets around.
31:20George in the lane.
31:20There's what you were talking about.
31:22Puncture the paint.
31:24Simons gives it up.
31:25Pritchard straight on.
31:27It goes.
31:28Living right.
31:30Living right.
31:31Getting your rest at night.
31:33Working out in the morning.
31:34You get those friendly touch rolls.
31:39Whitmore can't respond with his own three.
31:42Celtics trying to push this lead to double digits
31:44for the first time tonight.
31:46Pritchard in the spin cycle.
31:48All the way.
31:48The D-cell block, but got it back.
31:50Walsh playing in the dunker spot.
31:56Spins and he's fouled.
31:58A lot of spin moves on this possession.
32:00Wizards foul.
32:01Sorry, it's the double zero.
32:02All right, Celtics moving that ball side to side.
32:07Finds Peyton Pritchard.
32:09Sticks it with the touch.
32:10It was Jarek White in the first quarter.
32:16And it's Peyton Pritchard in the second quarter.

32:44Walsh makes it a ten-point lead for the Seas.
32:47Hitting the nail on the head there.
32:53White had 12 points in the first quarter.
32:55Now Pritchard has eight here in the second quarter.
32:57Three minutes into it.
32:59Celtics backcourt carrying the load with Brown out.
33:02There's Minot, the good hands.
33:03Three Celtics in the area.
33:04And Simons on the pickup.
33:07Got it across half court.
33:09Shireman scans and finds Minot inside for Walsh.
33:12Two more.
33:13It is Walshington, D.C. right now.
33:16Timeout, Wizards.
33:19I cannot top that.
33:21I'll just lay out.
33:22The Walshington Monument is being built.
33:28We saw it already in that first quarter with a chase down block and a wide-open corner three.
33:33Here's to the Verizon reliable performance.
33:36The Celtics rookie at just 19 years old is 19.
33:40Look at the numbers.
33:41First in net rating among first-year players.
33:43Third in defensive rating and a plus 29, you know, if you're into that sort of thing.
33:48He's guarded some of the best players in the league, switching from Jalen Brunson to Cat the other night.
33:53He's also checked Kevin Durant, Kate Cunningham.
33:56During his short time in the league, I asked Gonzalez the other night,
33:58how is he not intimidated by these guys?
34:01And he told me, basically, there's no time for that.
34:03He said, you've got to lock in.
34:05Know who you're guarding, what their tendencies are, and then be relentless and fight.
34:09And that is what we have seen from Ugo every minute he's been on the floor for the Celtics.
34:13Yeah, how about Jordan Walsh again?
34:15I mean, this guy is balling.
34:18He's a menace defensively.
34:19Abby, you've got to get that Ugo for rookie of the year going.
34:22Yeah, I was going to say, Abby might be able to do that if we didn't have the biggest Cooper flag propaganda machine on the planet.
34:30It's not propaganda, it's good.
34:31Just like Walsh.
34:32Walsh is not propaganda, it's his being a baller.
34:34That's facts.
34:36Walsh has had blocks.
34:38Now, I don't know.
34:40Now, Walsh is like the leader for the Tommy Award.
34:42Ooh.
34:43It's tough, man.
34:43It is tough out here in the streets.
34:45When you're giving out the Tommy Award, you're going to think of Abby saying, Ugo.
34:51I know.
34:52I know.
34:54Look at Jordan Walsh.
34:55Into double figures already.
35:02Champagny hangs.
35:03Can't score.
35:04Rebound down to Pritchard.
35:05Kata in there, contesting the shot.
35:08Shireman waits.
35:15Bagley blocked by Minot, got it back.
35:22Now, Kata called for the foul.
35:24That's two on Namias Kata.
35:26I don't know if I've ever seen a team that gets their shot blocked as much as the Wizards.
35:31They just, they don't care if there's two guys on them.
35:33They're just going to shoot it.
35:35Take a look at this good team defense by the Celtics.
35:38Kata's right there.
35:39Two guys.
35:40Minot comes over.
35:42I mean, that is a foul right there, but.
35:45He's doing a great job at defending the rim.
35:57Marvin Bagley, a former second pick in the draft, right ahead of Luka Doncic.
36:04Now in his eighth season, out of Duke.
36:06Speaking of Luka, it sounds like there's a chance he might not be playing tomorrow.
36:21I mean, he's in Sylvania, chilling right now, so.
36:27We'll see.
36:28And LeBron is playing tonight, right?
36:30He is.
36:31He was not on the entry report when I saw there in Toronto tonight.
36:33Five to shoot, here's Pritchard, might have been blocked by George, rebound down to Bagley.
36:47Luka's fiancee is expecting to give birth any day now.
36:51There is Chris Middleton, likes that shot.
36:56He can still do it.
36:57Middleton!
36:58It would be interesting if he's on this team at the end of the year.
37:03Do you think he has value for other teams?
37:05Um, I'm not sure about that.
37:14There we go.
37:16A deep one.
37:17All twine for Josh Minot as my step-up guy hits another.
37:22It's going to be a tough step-up king today.
37:33Celtics filling it up from downtown.
37:35Celtics doing a great job of running guys off the three.
37:40Yeah, flying around defensively.
37:41Walsh finishes it off with a rebound.
37:46This is the C's largest lead at 14.
37:51K to the catch, the find, Minot.
37:54They go around the horn.
37:58Shireman in there doing the dirty work.
38:00Love that corner crash.
38:03Pritchard the drive.
38:04Walsh is wide open.
38:05Bullseye!
38:08Man, Frank, he's going to run out of timeouts here.
38:11Good job by Pritchard, though.
38:13Love the attack to kick out Jordan Walsh.
38:16Hadn't himself a quarter.
38:1711 in the quarter for Walsh, 13 for the game.
38:24And I don't know, maybe Jordan Walsh was shopping today because he is on fire.
38:31Here he is, looking at defense.
38:33That leads to a Jordan Walsh dunk.
38:36Other side.
38:36Give me that shot.
38:38And then, it's a three-point play opportunity.
38:41Here he is again.
38:43Give me that steal.
38:45And taking it down.
38:46What do you call it?
38:47The Washington Monument?
38:48They're going to build one after this second quarter.
38:52Dawson, 11 points in the second quarter.
38:55He's 5 for 5 from the field.
38:57And what did you say during the break, career high ends?
38:5914.
39:00He's got what?
39:01He's got 13 right now.
39:02He might have a career high in just this quarter.
39:05He had those 14 against the Cavs last week and then nearly had a block on Middleton.
39:13That Cavs gave, by the way, a double-double for Walsh, the first of his career.
39:18Even with that two points by Middleton, it's an 18-5 Celtics run over the last four minutes or so.
39:25I thought they missed Cade on the back side.
39:30Richard off his foot, out of bounds.
39:33Out of bounds.
39:34Washington Basketball.
39:37This is the third Celtics turnover, first on Pritchard.
39:40I like that Derrick White is playing limited minutes in his first half.
39:46I like the plus.
39:50Derrick White must check in there.
39:52Just like that.
39:53Yeah, get in there, D-Watt.
39:54Just like that.
39:55He's standing up on the bench.
39:57Yeah, you think he's had enough is enough.
39:58He's got to get back out there.
40:00Check himself back in.
40:01Well, I mean, they were doing great without him.
40:03I mean, you know, we are on a back-to-back.
40:05You want Derrick to.
40:07Yeah, just like that.
40:08He's got to get back in the game.
40:10Here he is.
40:10Offensive foul.
40:12Offensive foul.
40:14That one, Mimi should have ghosted it.
40:17Got downhill.
40:18There was enough separation on this screen.
40:21It's all about reading how much separation you have.
40:24So, look at Pritchard.
40:25See that space?
40:26Just go.
40:27Once Champagne's trying to go over the top of you, get out of there.
40:31He's not going to ever catch up to Pritchard.
40:34Third foul on Keita.
40:35He takes the seat.
40:36Celtics go small again.
40:39Hauser moving his feet on Middleton.
40:41Almost blocked the shot.
40:42Middleton gets two more.
40:44And the Wizards have cut it to ten.
40:50Seven in a row for Washington.
40:52Hauser's open.
40:55Good job by Walsh again.
40:57Walsh got a hand on the rebound over to Pritchard.
41:00White back in the game.
41:01Pritchard launches.
41:08That was a 30-footer.
41:12McCollum the drive, the spray out to his fellow vet.
41:15And Middleton too strong.
41:16Offensive rebound.
41:18McCollum got Walsh in the air.
41:20Free throws coming for C.J. McCollum.
41:22That's a second foul on Walsh.
41:23Yeah, C.J. is so good with that pivot, pump fake.
41:27Look at all this catch.
41:29Watch the jab.
41:29Watch his foot work.
41:31Right there.
41:32That creates a little bit of separation.
41:35And when you are separated from your offensive player, when you're guarding them,
41:39you have to make drastic moves to get back.
41:41And that's how you get fouls.
41:48Here's a message from FanDuel.
41:51I got some ideas.
41:52Okay.
41:53Timeout?
41:53No, no, no, no.
41:54Time in.
41:55I feel like mascot should affect the over-under.
41:57Ooh, ooh.
41:58Betting in space?
41:59New customers bet $5 and get $1.50 in bonus bets if you win.
42:06You see Blake Griffin in that commercial for the NBA Cup driving to Vegas like Mad Max?
42:11I mean, he's in the car with Taylor Rooks.
42:14He's good.
42:14Oh, come on, guys.
42:16A steal by Champagny.
42:19Ooh.
42:22He got him.
42:24Champagny over Derek White, who's always going to challenge the shot.
42:28A chance at an and-one for Champagny.
42:30It is mostly Celtics fans here, but the Wizards fans who are in the building, they got up for that one.
42:37I'm shocked.
42:38I've never seen that before.
42:41Derek White.
42:44There's the two loudest by the former Celtic, Justin Champagny.
42:48Yeah, Champagny with the defense.
42:50And I was fully expecting Derek White to block that.
42:54Champagny went up to another level.
42:57That's respect right there.
42:58I don't think that's taunting.
43:01He knows Derek White's a guy, but he gave him a nice little competitor tap later.
43:08Derek White looked back.
43:09My guess is Derek White's going to respond.
43:1312 in a row for the Wizards.
43:15Champagny played a couple games for the Celts back in April of 2023.
43:20Maybe this qualifies as a revenge game for him.
43:28Pritchard trying to stop the run.
43:33What a shot.
43:33Oh, man.
43:34Pivot P.
43:38Pivot P, paint points P, presidential P, political P, Pennsylvania Avenue P.
43:44You got them all.
43:46Locked and loaded here in D.C.
43:48Come on.
43:51Out of bounds off of Hauser.
43:54Celtic struggling to rebound during this Wizards run.
43:58Got to be so locked in to the glass.
44:01Here comes White.
44:11Leading the charge.
44:12Pritchard in tight for two.
44:14Nice reverse.
44:17You know, when he first got to the lead, he had a really hard time finishing around the rim.
44:23We've shown you the numbers throughout the season.
44:24He has been elite this season on drives, making shots, and also in the paint,
44:30especially outside of the restricted area.
44:32Best field goal percentage in the league in that department.
44:39Here's Pritchard now on a three.
44:42Rebound down to Carrington.
44:44Two and a half to play in the first half.
44:52Bob Carrington for three.
44:53I don't know why he doesn't play more.
44:56I really like him.
44:56He's coming off the bench.
44:58I feel like he should be a starter for this team.
44:59Yeah, only 15 minutes a game.
45:01Carrington played a lot last year as a rookie.
45:04Minot got a hand on the rebound.
45:07Hauser.
45:09Walsh all alone down there.
45:11A lot by Bagley.
45:14Counted.
45:15It's a goaltend.
45:16Really?
45:18Oh, wow.
45:19We're way up here and on the other side of the basket.
45:22So, I'm not sure about this one.
45:25Let's see if I got it right or wrong.
45:26I felt like it was a good block.
45:31That still looked good.
45:33Well, I must have finished it.
45:34Walsh now has a career high with 15 points.
45:37There you go.
45:4013 of them in the second quarter.
45:42McCullum the miss.
45:43Walsh the rebound.
45:44His fifth.
45:50White thought he was fouled.
45:52Middleton lob it.
45:55Bagley the stuff.
45:58So many times when you miss a layup, it's like a turnover, a live ball turnover.
46:08Wizards hanging around here.
46:12Pritchard got the switch on to McCullum.
46:13Four to shoot.
46:18Pritchard taking him to the dance floor.
46:23Don't see him miss many of those shots.
46:35Walsh moving his feet, contesting the shot.
46:38Middleton too good.
46:39Middleton!
46:39Southies want to play two for one here.
46:54Here's White.
46:55It's good on a three.
46:57Derek White wasn't going to miss that shot short.
46:59He hit the front rim on his last two.
47:02Made sure he held that follow-through.
47:04Got that shot all the way to the back rim.
47:06First points of the quarter for Derek White.
47:15Middleton with 12 to lead the way for the Wizards.
47:18Carrington again for three.
47:20Three for Carrington!
47:24And Chris Middleton!
47:28Souths can hold for one.
47:29Foul to give for the Wizards.
47:34McCullum does.
47:356.2 on the clock.
47:38Stay tuned for Celtics' Halftime Live with Kayla and Eddie.
47:41It's presented by DraftKings Sportsbook.
47:43Returning for Washington is Samir Watkins.
47:48Who you draw up a play here for?
47:50Pritchard.
47:51Kishan George.
47:596.2 is a turn B in the NBA.
48:02Pritchard enters your screen.
48:04Start into the backcourt.
48:06Here's White with three.
48:07Over the top.
48:08It's good!
48:09Derek White finishing hot just like he started hot.
48:13Back-to-back threes to end the first half.
48:16I think that was after the horn.
48:17It was after the horn.
48:18Does he not know about the new Hebrew?
48:20No, I just think he just didn't realize the time.
48:24I mean, Bob Carrington hit a half-court shot,
48:26but it's not going to count.
48:28Oof.
48:29One hurts for the Wizards.
48:32Notice the Celtics' defense from Walsh and Gonzalez.
48:35Already a career night for Jordan Walsh,
48:37and it's only halftime.
48:39Kayla and Eddie have you covered right after this.
48:42Who's got it?
48:49Blocked by Walsh.
48:50Don't call it.
48:51Don't call it.
48:51Don't call it.
48:52Don't call it.
48:52Don't call it.

48:56And here's how it is.
48:58So, we don't let it fall.
48:58Don't call it.
49:08Don't call it.
49:08I knowición you've heard of being him after tonight.
49:10But I hope you'd love to win the rookie of summer.
49:11Yeah cool.
49:12Don't call it or not.
49:13You have to play that for the last year.
49:14Yeah cool.
49:14There's love it.
49:15There's love it.
