00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada the future is here welcome to your avant-garde challenge.
00:11This week you're working in teams and two designers from the losing team will be out.
00:19I would love to get that win this week. I gotta finish the shorts, finish the
00:24bus, finish the boots. Future, avant-garde, awkward pieces. Awkward pieces. Foster, Charles, and Leland.
00:34Top book tonight was innovative, conceptual, and inventive. The winner of this challenge
00:39is Charles. Neymar Delarumic, I'm sorry, but you're both out.
00:48At stake for the winner, from TD, a career launching investment of $100,000 and a
00:54feature in Elle Canada magazine. With global supermodel Coco Rocha, fashion
01:00designer Spencer Badu, creative director Aurora James, and legendary fashion
01:06journalist Jeanne Becker. This is Project Runway Canada.
01:10Watch me do my thing.
01:21Ooh. There's the box. Ooh. Joe Fresh. I wonder what it is. It's like Christmas. I like Joe
01:30Fresh. The box says Joe Fresh, but I have no idea what's inside. I'm excited. Let's open it.
01:36Hello, designers. Hello.
01:43See, you found some surprises. No peeking just yet.
01:49Life loves to keep things interesting. For me, that means one minute I'm walking the dog. The next,
01:56I'm walking a runway. And my wardrobe has to keep up. That's why I rely on strong foundation pieces.
02:02But I still like to keep things fresh. Let me show you.
02:06Ooh.
02:08Hello, models.
02:10Hey. So chic.
02:12Yes, girl.
02:14Every look you see here is from Joe Fresh. Each styled around one versatile wardrobe staple. Designed right here in Canada.
02:22These go-to's are at the core of endless ensembles. Easy to dress up, dress down, or make your own. No matter what's on your schedule.
02:32For this challenge, you'll be creating one look that transforms in real time from one life moment to the next.
02:41A reveal. And it has to happen flawlessly on the runway. I really feel sick. My head is just spinning like this is a two-in-one look. Wild.
02:52That's right. You're designing two looks in one. The star of both looks must be your Joe Fresh wardrobe staple. You cannot alter the staple in any way.
03:04And be sure the transition is effortless. Because you will also be judged on technical execution.
03:12I've never made a transformative look for a runway before. This is going to be super hard.
03:17Wondering which classic you'll be working with? Open those boxes.
03:21Ooh.
03:23A white shirt.
03:25It's so soft.
03:26Wow.
03:27It's so clueless.
03:28Ooh. Animal.
03:29Meow.
03:30Wow.
03:31Okay, burgundy jacket.
03:35The model you see wearing the piece in your box, that's your model. That's your match.
03:41This is a two-day challenge. You have 40 minutes to sketch your design before you join Aurora at the fabric store.
03:47Make your story clear. All the best designers get sketching.
03:58Are you ready?
03:59Yeah.
03:59Let's do this.
04:00Ooh.
04:01Okay, I would wear the hell out of this sweater.
04:04We both got sweaters.
04:06This crew neck sweater has to be the star of the show.
04:10It adds a level of difficulty because the essential piece does not fit into my aesthetic.
04:16What did you get?
04:17A little school girl vest.
04:19Oh, that's going to be so much fun to work with.
04:21Yeah.
04:22It's giving private school girl vibes.
04:24And I love that for me because I already know what I'm going to do. It's going to have a little asymmetrical plaid overlay on top of the skirt, which is going to flip up into a corset.
04:34Wow, that's a perfect thing for you.
04:36Yeah, it felt a little baggy on her though.
04:38Yeah, it felt a little baggy on her though.
04:40But it's a really nice color.
04:42I'm on top of the world.
04:43I got leopard?
04:44Leopard?
04:45I can't believe you got that dress, Leland.
04:48Oh my gosh, it's fun.
04:49It's fate.
04:50It's fate.
04:51I feel like I live in leopard, like live, laugh leopard is my life motto.
04:56Is that girl wearing a skirt as a top right now?
04:59Yes!
05:00That's the skirt.
05:01It's a skirt as a top.
05:02My theme is 8 AM to 8 PM.
05:04So I'm making a big track suit that's going to reveal into an evening dress.
05:09I'm really going to sell the reveal of it.
05:11I know how to do some really crazy drag reveals, so I'm like, this is the one that's getting it.
05:16I'm so excited.
05:18My essential item is a black and white t-shirt.
05:21This was fate.
05:22This is so me.
05:23It is.
05:24I love it.
05:25Black and white is a DNA of my work.
05:27The universe is saying, this is your challenge.
05:30I think the best way to approach this is something that's not gimmicky.
05:35I'm going to make a jacket that's completely reversible.
05:38I'm also making sort of a utility belt that has pockets.
05:41It's really easy to go extreme here.
05:44The statement I'm trying to make is one that's more subtle.
05:47It's practical.
05:48I want these pieces to look like they live in one person's wardrobe.
05:53I really like a nice clean white shirt because I wear this shirt every day.
05:58This week, I need to prove that I can do something great because I was twice in the bottom.
06:05Look.
06:06Beautiful.
06:07Absolutely.
06:08I do a lot of two-in-one garments.
06:12I always love to like reveal.
06:15So I'm going to do this.
06:16I want to show me.
06:17So I'm making a jacket and a jeans with a corset belt with like fringe.
06:22I'm just happy to do this this week.
06:24Aw.
06:25We're happy to also just have you here still.
06:27Crazy, huh?
06:28It was an emotional runway last week.
06:31Uh, you know.
06:32If I can't make it with this, I just need to go home.
06:38So what are you planning?
06:44Oh.
06:45I'm not a vest person.
06:47Vests are very Aladdin.
06:50However, I need to stick with something that I know I'm good at, which is jackets.
06:56So I am making a skirt that turns into a jacket.
07:02So she's going from work to a hockey game.
07:06Sweet.
07:07Right?
07:08This is going to be good.
07:09I'm getting like antsy now.
07:11I just want to get to the fabric store.
07:13You're already ready for the store?
07:17Hello, designers.
07:19Hi.
07:20I hope you're ready to make some fresh moments happen.
07:23You're going to have 30 minutes and $350 to get your materials together.
07:30Okay, go.
07:31I want this.
07:32Spicy already.
07:33This was the one that I wanted.
07:34Oh, wow.
07:35I knew what I wanted.
07:36You knew what you wanted.
07:37Yes.
07:38A girl with a plan.
07:39I am looking for a very bold plaid.
07:42Maybe mustard, maybe red, maybe blue.
07:45This being a first for me, I'm worried because the sticks are pretty.
07:52I got this crewnet sweater.
07:55So I'm thinking of office wear.
07:57Going from office to a cocktail party.
08:00So I'm going to be making a vest with denim pants to transform into a skirt.
08:05I think I have what I need.
08:07Do you think this is too clashy to make this a sheer skirt?
08:11You're walking a line, I will say.
08:12Yeah, that's...
08:13But you could walk the right side of it.
08:15Yeah.
08:16This is your item.
08:17This is my item.
08:18Okay.
08:19So more animal print.
08:20I think it might be too much.
08:22So I might go over the next.
08:23I think it might be too much.
08:24Yeah.
08:25Don't make it like Lion King.
08:26You know what I mean?
08:27You're right.
08:28Lion King's not the vibe.
08:29Not the vibe.
08:30Oh, no.
08:31I've got a roll of fabric that I love.
08:34This is all that's left?
08:36There's not enough.
08:37Are you able to check for me if you have this in the back?
08:39And I panic.
08:40These are my two picks.
08:42None of them work, right?
08:43It's a bit tricky.
08:44And I think a solid might not work.
08:45Smaller print.
08:46Yeah, find something else.
08:47So this one, I'm going to take a yard and a half.
08:49Five minutes left.
08:50Baby, let me try this.
08:51Who hasn't cashed out yet?
08:52Foster?
08:53Is there any chiffon like this with a small print this color?
08:56Oh.
08:57Yes.
08:58Can I get three?
08:59All right, get cutting.
09:00One yard of the rim.
09:01Let's go.
09:02Charles, get in.
09:03Run!
09:04So how's your draping going, Rome?
09:06It's going good.
09:07How about you?
09:08It's going good, too.
09:09I have this adorable blood orange cardigan.
09:12It's got a little crop and three buttons on the front,
09:14and it's got a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit.
09:19So how's your draping going, Rome?
09:24It's going good.
09:25How about you?
09:26It's going good, too.
09:27I have this adorable blood orange cardigan.
09:30It's got a little crop and three buttons on the front, and I'm trying to include multiple transformative elements.
09:37My biggest piece is the skirt I'll be doing.
09:39It starts as a bubble skirt and then unties into a floor-length pleated skirt with a drop-waist detail.
09:44I'll be making a white tank top with a removable collar and removable cuff.
09:48There's going to be so much choreography involved this week.
09:51I'm going to want to practice with my model, like, many times.
09:57Who's, like, six foot?
09:59I am.
10:00Can I measure your crotch?
10:01My what?
10:03Buy me a drink first.
10:09I am very excited to see what you all are working on.
10:15Very curious about this fabric.
10:17What is your essential item?
10:18So my essential item is this pinstripe shirt over here.
10:23And I'm thinking to have a swimsuit.
10:25Oh, wow. A swimsuit.
10:26Yes.
10:27My inspiration is the digital nomad going from work from home straight to their beach day.
10:33Whole skirt hides underneath the pants?
10:35Yeah, but I'll show you the fabric. I don't think it will be too hard to hide.
10:38This feels, like, gothic to me, not beachy.
10:41Well, she's going to have a white swimsuit. I feel like white and black go well together.
10:46Sometimes the judges love it and sometimes they don't. But I'm hopeful that I'll be able to pull this off.
10:51Kat.
10:52Hey.
10:53What's happening this week?
10:54Something fun.
10:55Tell me where your model is starting and where are they going?
10:56She's working in marketing.
10:57That night she's going to see a country show.
10:58And then how does it swap?
10:59When she goes like that, schlock, it's fringe and snake skin motifs.
11:04Oh, wow.
11:05I'm a city girl, but two years ago when I went to Virginia to work with horses, it was the most wonderful experience of my life.
11:23And I brought my sewing machine there. Everything that I did was really Western vibe.
11:29everything that I did was really Western vibe.
11:33It really came to me, and I really embraced it.
11:37And I just found myself.
11:39I want them to see me this week.
11:41I want that too.
11:45I have mixed feelings about my piece
11:47because it covers most of the body.
11:50I have to think outside the box.
11:52So look one is a blazer over a long skirt.
11:55Look two is a blazer over a bralette.
11:58And a pair of pants.
12:00The reveal is the skirt comes off the dress.
12:02I feel good from last week,
12:04and I just wanted to continue celebrating.
12:07Charles, Foster, Leland,
12:10you are our top designers of the week.
12:12Thank you so much.
12:14Best combination ever, cardio and sewing.
12:19So this is a coat that starts as a dress.
12:22Yes.
12:23She's coming from work,
12:24and then she's going to a hockey game.
12:26I feel like the tie around the waist
12:28is actually more casual.
12:30Yeah, I don't know where anyone goes with a vest.
12:32I'm sorry.
12:33The cat's wearing a vest right now.
12:35People wear them.
12:37You know?
12:39It's really my go-to bathing.
12:42And that's the challenge.
12:43Yeah, that's why I was trying to cover it up.
12:45I know, but it has to be a focal piece of the look,
12:49little feather.
12:50I'm more worried about the transformation
12:53than I am about working the essential.
12:58I do feel confident.
12:59I think I'm doing something completely different
13:01from everyone else.
13:02Most people are doing a day-to-night look,
13:04but, oh, my God, turning this bikini bottom inside out
13:084,000 times to make sure that all the straps
13:11are at the right length is very difficult.
13:13And I'm definitely most nervous about the tearaway element.
13:16I don't know if these magnets
13:18are going to work how I'm expecting.
13:20I'm just hoping I have time
13:21to test some different things out,
13:22because there's no room for mistakes here.
13:28Looks awesome.
13:29It looks beautiful.
13:30And this is the reveal.
13:31So it's going to be like that with the snaps.
13:34And then...
13:35But I think I'll put more things.
13:38I really hope it's going to be dramatic.
13:40With snaps, you have to have, like,
13:43a really good movement,
13:45so it's really...
13:46it's not stuck.
13:47And under the arm,
13:48it needs to be a magnet.
13:50And when she will arrive,
13:52she will, like, unsnap.
13:54And the legs, too.
13:57I wasn't sure how this was going to, like, fall down,
13:59but I feel like it's, like, actually, like, perfect.
14:00If I just put a zipper right there.
14:01Yeah, it looks good this way.
14:02Right?
14:03Yeah.
14:04I'm very worried,
14:05because all the transitions seem to be going pretty well.
14:08And I'm now realizing that the pants just not working out.
14:12Definitely bit off more than I could chew.
14:15Transforming a denim pants into a skirt,
14:17I haven't quite figured it out yet.
14:19How is she going to pull it up?
14:21Where am I going to tie it?
14:22How am I going to hide the denim completely?
14:25Worst case scenario is
14:27I'm unable to figure out the transition.
14:30How are you?
14:42I'm trying to tailor.
14:44This is a real challenge.
14:46Not only do we have to show off an essential item from Joe Fresh,
14:49we have to have two distinct looks
14:51and one very clean transition.
14:53And so the stress is on.
14:55This is just so funny.
15:07Good morning, designers.
15:09Good morning.
15:13It looks like you have made progress here.
15:15Mm-hmm.
15:16So I got rid of the jacket.
15:18Okay.
15:19And now I'm going with a cape.
15:21And then it converts into a dress.
15:24I like the cape idea.
15:25Make sure it flows nicely into a dress.
15:28This is going to give Blair Waldorf Upper East Side New York.
15:33I'm not nervous at all.
15:37Hey.
15:38Hey.
15:39How are you?
15:40Good.
15:41Okay, so I'm worried about the essential item getting lost in this.
15:43Oh, I hope not.
15:45The outfit will be open and you will be able to see it.
15:47I think I'd like to do at least three to four different changes of this outfit.
15:51And the last one is basically presenting the dress.
15:54According to the brief, the essential item has to be a feature in both looks.
15:59Totally.
16:00I need to highlight the item.
16:02It's sticking out the front.
16:04How much more can I highlight it?
16:07Hey, Charles.
16:08Hi, Aurora.
16:09Progress on the jacket.
16:10Yeah, this piece itself is completely reversible.
16:12Fun.
16:13It turns into this.
16:14My concern is that the judges are going to look at this and be like, Charles wanted to make this look and just stuck the t-shirt behind it.
16:23So if you can find some way to integrate white into other parts of the outfit, it will bring it together so much better.
16:34I use a lot of lines in my work, which is my signature.
16:38So I really want to incorporate white ribbon on the sleeves.
16:41And I think it can just be a tiny little detail that pulls everything together.
16:55Hey, Realm.
16:56Hi.
16:57This is a skirt and a pant that transforms.
17:01So I changed my idea.
17:03Okay.
17:04So I chose to do a pencil denim skirt that is going to go into this cocktail skirt.
17:09This is an A-line skirt?
17:10Yeah.
17:11Is it going to be fitting properly if there's another skirt?
17:15It is going to be fitting properly, yeah.
17:17Yeah, I really want to see how the mechanics of this whole thing are working out.
17:20I have to figure this bottom out.
17:22There's no room for malfunction, so I got to get it right.
17:26I'm just worried about time.
17:29Yeah.
17:31Transitions take rehearsal.
17:33We're going to need a second with these models and run through it.
17:38I've got your models.
17:41Come on in.
17:42Ooh.
17:43Yay.
17:44So fresh.
17:45Hey.
17:46Hey.
17:47How is this?
17:48Hi, my friend.
17:49Nice to meet you.
17:50Nice to meet you.
17:51Designers, you have 30 minutes with your models.
17:56Oh, wow.
17:57It was good.
17:58Oh, my God.
18:00I want to win this week.
18:02Ah!
18:03That was chic.
18:04Mine's the best.
18:05It's going to be good.
18:06I'm so excited.
18:07Fingers crossed.
18:08Can you turn for me, please?
18:10Up there.
18:12These models are going in front of Coco Rocha.
18:14It's one smooth transition.
18:16That's all she gets.
18:17Remember, the collar stays up when you do it, and the collar stays down when you're the other
18:21way.
18:22Some people have all these crazy reveals, all of these magnets.
18:26And for me, I'm not going in that direction.
18:28I'm going clean.
18:29I'm going polished.
18:30I'm going Charles Lou.
18:31Do you feel like the shirt, the essential piece, is shining?
18:39I think so.
18:40I think once this layer comes off, it's going to be all shirt.
18:43All the lines are sort of throwing me.
18:46I feel like the patterns are working together, to be honest.
18:49So we'll see what the judges think.
18:51I like the combination.
18:52There's no other fabric to use, so the judges will like it.
18:57So the skirt itself is going to be cut much shorter.
19:01When she gets to the end of the runway.
19:03Yes.
19:04Then she opens it.
19:05She's like unclipping it.
19:06Mm-hmm.
19:07Still a lot of work to do in the skirt.
19:09Yeah.
19:10But keep thinking about it.
19:11I will.
19:12All right.
19:14Models, thank you.
19:15We'll see you tomorrow.
19:16Bye.
19:17I'll see you tomorrow, okay?
19:19Bye.
19:20Bye.
19:21You're not going to get to practice with your models again until tomorrow,
19:25and there's a lot of work left to do in these transitions, okay?
19:30Get to work.
19:33The drape has to lay properly in order for it to look good,
19:37and so I keep having to fix the interior.
19:40I'm fighting for my life.
19:42I'm cracking under the pressure.
19:44Tomorrow's going to be an interesting day.
19:47It's a little quiet.
19:57I think the impending doom of the transitions is kind of slowly creeping in on us.
20:03I have my skirt part done.
20:06It's just like the mechanicals of the transformation is going to take the most time.
20:10Oh, I agree.
20:11It's really just what everybody's, I think, trying to figure out.
20:14Yeah.
20:15It has to be a good reveal on the runway.
20:17Yeah.
20:18Oh, 100%.
20:19No malfunctions.
20:27Happy runway day.
20:29Woo!
20:30Hey!
20:31Let's do it.
20:33It's a day of all days.
20:35Today, I'm just hoping that we stay on schedule.
20:38This bikini is taking a lot longer than I was expecting,
20:41and I have to finish sewing in all these magnets,
20:44so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
20:51I still have to figure out the top for my second look,
20:54and I have a lot of details to make.
20:56It's time to get on the floor and get the hammer out.
20:59Happy runway day.
21:09Your models are back.
21:11You really serious?
21:14You have 40 minutes for your fittings.
21:18Get practicing.
21:19I am not finished yet.
21:21Okay.
21:22I thought you were gonna come a little bit later.
21:26I didn't finish the pants.
21:28I needed to put the grommets in so she can, like, reveal.
21:32This is so stupid.
21:34And it's killing me that it's not done yet,
21:36so it just looks weird.
21:37But time to put the grommets,
21:39and then you to practice, you know?
21:41Well, it's just like we don't have a lot of time.
21:44Okay.
21:45Yeah, I think this looks great.
21:53It's looking cute.
21:54And this still pops in the first look.
21:56Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:58It is the shirt of it.
21:59How many transitions are there?
22:01Currently, four to five.
22:03That's a lot.
22:04Am I extra?
22:07I think that brief was, like, one.
22:09So five is sort of more of a performance than a transition.
22:14Um, this is what I do.
22:17It could have been even more over the top.
22:19Want to do these again?
22:20Yes.
22:21Let's do it.
22:27Hi.
22:28I see we're still sewing.
22:29Still sewing.
22:30Have we been able to practice any of the transitions yet?
22:33Not yet.
22:34Just need to tailor it a bit more.
22:35I'm concerned a little bit.
22:37Not gonna lie to you.
22:39This fitting is not going well at all.
22:41I still have things to finish,
22:43and I need to have something going down the runway.
22:46Just want to see it under your hip, sort of.
22:50All right, designers, when you're ready,
22:52take your models to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
22:58Looks so beautiful.
23:00It's nice.
23:02The eye makeup is just gorgeous.
23:06Like, I love it.
23:07So she's a private schoolgirl gone bad, and I really just want, like, a Movi neutral matte lip on her.
23:14The perfect one.
23:15Oh, perfect.
23:16It's L'Oreal Paris Infallible Lack Resistance in Breakfast in Bed.
23:19Ooh.
23:20It's gonna be smudge-proof, and it's gonna last the whole time.
23:22Oh, my God.
23:32The hoops that I've jumped through.
23:34For a 30-second transformation, it's not easy.
23:36Freaking hell.
23:38There's so much to do.
23:40I'm wondering if I should just let her unzip the back.
23:43This clip is falling out.
23:45Okay, so let's just fix your snaps first.
23:47Delaine is helping me put the metallic clips on,
23:51because I cannot see where it needs to go.
23:54I'm frantic at this point, and I usually ask for help.
23:56Just add, like, an extra snap.
23:58Rome, I can tell he's stressed.
24:00Come on, come on.
24:01Now is not the time.
24:02Try not to be flustered.
24:03Just calm. It's okay.
24:04Yep.
24:05I know that it's a competition, but I would want someone to help me.
24:11I just feel like giving up.
24:12Thank you, Delaine.
24:13Yeah.
24:14Thank you so much.
24:15But I cannot go home.
24:16I came here for a reason, and it is to prove that I'm a great designer.
24:20Time for the runway!
24:22Ah!
24:23Ah!
24:24No!
24:25No!
24:26So, it's just weird.
24:28So, okay, we'll leave it like that.
24:30Where were we sewing this? Right here, eh?
24:32The tape, I don't want it to come undone.
24:35My model looks fine.
24:37I'm gonna leave you for a second.
24:38Right now, my priority is Rome.
24:40He's my friend, and I'm gonna help him.
24:42Like, this will be connected to her.
24:44Yeah.
24:45Like this?
24:46Yeah.
24:47I feel disappointed in myself because I usually have it together, but I'm a strong man.
24:51Time to hit the runway!
24:52Let's do this!
24:53You guys know.
24:54This isn't the end.
24:55All right, let's go.
24:56Let's do it.
24:57Woohoo!
24:58Hi, designers!
24:59Hello!
25:00This week, your challenge was to create a two-in-one look that tells a story using a
25:02Joe Fresh staple as the centerpiece.
25:17Will your design be a fresh take, or will you tell a stale tale?
25:34Time to say hello to your judges.
25:38It's fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
25:40Hi, Spencer.
25:41Hi, designers.
25:42Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
25:45Hi, everybody.
25:47And meet Canadian model, designer, and entrepreneur, the one and only, Lauren Chan.
25:55Hi, designers!
25:56Hi!
25:57Oh, my goodness.
25:59Lauren is just one of the best models.
26:03They got giddy.
26:04I'm giddy.
26:06All right, let's start the show.
26:16First look, I think it's very wearable.
26:18The vest is really looking great with the skirt.
26:20The second look, she puts those straps up so flawlessly.
26:23She's just looking like the private little school girl that I really wanted.
26:27I'm really proud of it.
26:33Oh, she's stunning.
26:42I think I did a good job.
26:44My look is fresh.
26:45It's transformative.
26:47And the cardigan is really highlighted through this effortless everyday transitional piece.
26:52This outfit represents me.
27:09It looks ageless, timeless, looks like you could buy this.
27:14The part where it converts, it is super basic, but it's elegant.
27:20It looks good.
27:29I want everything to look perfect.
27:31I don't want any mistake on that runway.
27:40She's rocking it.
27:41It's western, urban, and ecchi.
27:46Here I am.
27:47I'm really proud of this look.
27:56I feel I've really achieved my vision.
27:58I think the silk chiffon skirt was draped beautifully.
28:02Ooh.
28:04I love the vegan leather.
28:06And I feel these pants could not exist in a world without this blazer.
28:11I'm just hoping that I've impressed the judges with this transformation.
28:21Seeing my look come down the runway, I'm feeling underwhelmed.
28:25I don't love the fit of the skirt.
28:27I wanted it to be a bit more seamless.
28:30The challenge called for a two-in-one look.
28:32And I think the judges will probably notice how simple of a transformation it is.
28:38And I'm not happy with that.
28:39I'm so happy.
28:44I'm so happy.
28:46She looks adorable.
28:48I think what I love most about my look is that it's such a shock when the shorts come off and the skirt falls down perfectly.
28:57It's just such a reveal.
28:58Okay.
28:59I think that I have absolutely delivered on two completely separate looks and I'm really excited to hear what the judges think.
29:19Even though it's a subtle transition, these pieces would work in real life.
29:23And that was my goal the entire time.
29:25Couldn't be happier.
29:29Oh, that color combo.
29:41Got this. You got this.
29:43Yes.
29:45I'm so happy to see that leopard print dress just fly out of the tearaway pants.
29:49It literally looks perfect.
29:51Designers, please step up to the runway.
30:04We saw some fresh takes tonight, but only one of you can be the winner.
30:09And one of you will be out.
30:10When I call your name, please step forward.
30:17Delaine.
30:19Foster.
30:22Curtis.
30:23The three of you are in and can leave the runway. Congratulations.
30:36Hey, I'm happy, man.
30:37We've lived.
30:38That was a tough one.
30:39It was tough, you know?
30:40Yeah.
30:42We'd like to hear more about each of your designs.
30:44Let's bring out the first model.
30:50Rom, tell us more about this look.
30:51Daytime, she's at work.
30:52It's scheduled Friday, so it's just a simple denim skirt.
30:56And then I wanted it to transform into this snake leather thing.
31:01Why do you keep looking at us like you're a little unsure of that story?
31:04Because I was just in my head a whole lot this week.
31:06And I've kept having to tell myself, do not crack, do not crack, keep going, keep going.
31:10This, this doesn't feel like you.
31:13The skirt for me is not an attractive fit.
31:17You know, the padding in the back almost looked like you were toting a little sleeping bag.
31:23When she came down, I thought, oh, well, if it's so bulky in the back, it's going to turn into a gown.
31:28I'm not sure if the application of the ruching was necessary.
31:32But the drape I did gasp, because to go from such casual denim into a patent snake draped skirt is a feat.
31:41Thank you, Rom.
31:44Oh, yikes.
31:46Poor Rom.
31:47Let's bring out the next look.
31:51Priya, what's goody? Hey.
31:53Leland, what story are you trying to tell here?
31:56This is 8am to 8pm.
31:58I really want to kind of, like, juxtapose two different, like, timelines.
32:03And when I was given the leopard skirt, I decided to make it a dress moment.
32:09I enjoyed the first look. It looked great.
32:11But to the brief, sadly, it didn't really feature the leopard enough.
32:17I loved that tracksuit. I thought she looked great.
32:20But it really bothered me that the leopard was not there.
32:24That's the whoopsie.
32:26A look in the morning should be maybe a bit more toned down.
32:29I think there's a lot going on.
32:31Okay. I don't want you to tone it down.
32:34Instead of toning down, perhaps editing your design process earlier.
32:38Thank you, Leland.
32:41Here's the next look.
32:43I thought this was fun.
32:46It's very fun.
32:48So she's a fashion marketing girlie who needs to go to work, but it's Friday.
32:54And she has tickets to her favorite Western festival.
32:57Well done. The surprise, the fringes were just absolutely fabulous.
33:01It was a hooray for Kat moment.
33:04This is from corporate to cowgirl. Kat, I'm so proud of you.
33:07You know, I feel like with this look, I was really able to see who you are as a designer.
33:13Thanks.
33:15I really liked the reveal on this, but something like the pressing on the shirt stopped my eye.
33:20She worked all day.
33:22I believe that's called method modeling.
33:24Yeah.
33:26I was not expecting that.
33:28And that's the point of a transitional moment.
33:30But I loved the experience of watching it versus some.
33:33I was like, good job, Kat.
33:38So the lifestyle I was building for was mom on the go to mom on the town.
33:43She just wants to feel a little bit more elevated.
33:46It was just a soft and subtle change.
33:49I love it.
33:51I love the way a simple striped t-shirt really dictated the whole graphic aesthetic of this outfit.
33:57I thought it was pretty sensational.
33:59You didn't just take the shirt and use it as like a background piece.
34:02I loved how you incorporated the lines.
34:04And I think obviously that's probably something that you use within your work.
34:08I thought that this was ready to sell.
34:11Charles, thank you so much.
34:13Thank you so much.
34:15Let's bring out the next look.
34:20So my idea was to go from work from home by day to beach party by night.
34:27Okay, when your look came out, I thought immediately, oh, I think I know what this designer has to say.
34:35And then the look transitioned and I had no idea what you were trying to say.
34:40Whew.
34:42I loved Maya's look.
34:44I mean, I'm all for juxtaposition.
34:47But, you know, a striped cotton shirt with that fabric just didn't jive for me.
34:52When I saw the model first come down, I was like, is it a schoolgirl?
34:55Is it pajamas?
34:57And then I think when I saw the second look, I was like, oh, maybe it's like pajamas to lingerie.
35:02The shirt covers the swimsuit, so for me, there was just a bit of confusion when it comes to the story.
35:07I know, your storytelling is like, clever.
35:11This to me seemed mediocre.
35:14Thank you, Maya.
35:17I fiercely disagree with the judges.
35:22Little Feather, tell us about your look.
35:24So basically, she owns a law firm, but she does like to have fun.
35:29So her cape transforms into a skirt, so she's ready to go to a concert.
35:35I loved this piece up here.
35:38I thought it was gorgeous.
35:39But once it came off, it felt like, you know, a middle school girl just putting her sweater around her waist.
35:44So the reveal felt flat.
35:47You're really talented.
35:48When I saw that cape, I was like, oh my goodness.
35:50Like, I'm getting to see Little Feather shine.
35:52I just wish you would have maybe just been a bit more daring.
35:55Not crazy about the way it transformed just because you've got this thing sticking out in the front that's just not necessarily that attractive.
36:05But Jeannie whispered to me while this came down the runway, I would wear that.
36:10And I just want to commend you on having a Canadian fashion legend say that about something that you made.
36:16In and of itself, total win.
36:18Thank you, Little Feather.
36:23Thank you, designers.
36:24You can leave the runway.
36:32Oh, Maya.
36:34You believed in me, didn't you?
36:36I loved it.
36:38My mouth was on the floor.
36:40What a show, right?
36:41First of all, I'm just proud of them.
36:44Last runway, we gave them a pep talk.
36:48They did better.
36:49Let's talk about our tops.
36:51Honestly, I'm torn, you know.
36:53I think these were two amazing looks.
36:56Charles, as soon as that look came out, I was really impressed.
37:00It felt like it was all part of the same capsule.
37:02I thought the whole graphic effect was really interesting.
37:05Executed beautifully.
37:07He's really talented.
37:08But I think Kat had a more theatrical reveal.
37:11I was, like, Joe Fresh to Joe Fringe.
37:13Loved it.
37:14When I was getting, like, cowgirl.
37:16I thought it was very directional, which I appreciate.
37:18It was a great concept.
37:20She really proved herself this week.
37:22Who do you think had the best execution?
37:25Well, in that case, I think it would be clear as day.
37:27But who should be going home this week?
37:29All right, Little Feather.
37:30She said, like, I'm gonna make a jacket, something that I'm very good at.
37:34That wasn't the brief.
37:35To me, this wasn't a skirt.
37:36It was just an afterthought.
37:38I wasn't really clear on what the story was.
37:41I didn't really see enough effort or imagination put into the look as a whole.
37:46And I didn't think Rome did a great job either.
37:50It was one awkward skirt to another awkward skirt.
37:53I understand ruching requires a lot of work.
37:56However, to me, it looked like a sleeping bag stuck to her butt.
38:00And then we have Maya and Leland.
38:03Leland.
38:04I was like, what are we supposed to showcase?
38:07Oh, a leopard skirt.
38:08And when I saw that the skirt was just pulled up into a dress, I was disappointed.
38:12I think there was a lot going on.
38:13Yeah.
38:14And there wasn't really continuity in terms of the first look and the second look.
38:19It was like wah, wah.
38:21And then Maya.
38:22I was confused.
38:23I got pajamas to, like, lingerie.
38:26I was not expecting bathing suit sheer cover up.
38:29It seemed like more of a striptease than a transformation.
38:32And we couldn't see the showcase Joe Fresh piece.
38:35Where does that leave us?
38:39Let's bring the designers back out.
38:40When I call your name, please step forward.
38:53Kat.
38:54Charles.
38:59You both took your two and ones to another level.
39:03They didn't just show a moment.
39:05They were the moment.
39:06Excellent work.
39:07You are at the top two of the night.
39:09Thank you so much.
39:11But there can only be one winner.
39:16The winning look wowed us with its imagination, playfulness.
39:21And it showed us exactly who the designer is.
39:25Tonight's winner is...
39:32Kat.
39:34Good job, Kat.
39:35Thank you so much.
39:36To celebrate your win, Joe Fresh is rewarding you with $5,000.
39:40Oh, my God.
39:41Yeah.
39:42Congratulations.
39:43My life is made.
39:44Yeah.
39:45I'm so happy.
39:46Charles, you are still in.
39:48Yes.
39:49And the two of you can lead the runway.
39:51Bye.
39:52Thank you so much.
39:53I'm so happy, guys.
39:54Being in the bottom twice in a row, you really feel at some point that maybe you're just not on the same level as the others and you're just next in line to go.
40:16But to win, you're like, oh, no, never mind.
40:20I really, really, really need it.
40:23Yeah.
40:24I'm happy you got it.
40:25Truly.
40:29Leland.
40:31Maya.
40:35We're giving you both another shot.
40:37You're both in and can lead the runway.
40:41Thanks, guys.
40:46Rome.
40:48The fit of that skirt was off.
40:51Little Feather.
40:53Your cape's transformation into a skirt was lackluster.
40:58This was an incredibly difficult decision.
41:04Little Feather.
41:05I'm sorry, but you're out.
41:09Rome.
41:11You're still in.
41:12You can leave the runway.
41:21Thanks, guys.
41:25Little Feather, you always just, you walk in a room and it's always just joy.
41:30This isn't the end at all by any means.
41:32Thank you so much for being here with us.
41:34Thank you for sharing your story and your journey and also just your smile.
41:39I feel good.
41:40This competition has reminded me how blessed I am, how hard I've worked.
41:47Also that I can keep going.
41:50Bye, guys.
41:51So happy to meet you.
41:53Good luck.
41:54Bye.
41:56I'm so, so blessed and happy to meet all of you guys.
42:01We're really proud of you.
42:03Can we give you a hug?
42:04Yes.
42:06I wanted to be proud.
42:07I want all of the Anishinaabe people to be like, there's a native designer and she made a nice garment and Jeannie Becker wants to wear it.
42:20Next time on Project Runway Canada.
42:21This is a pairs challenge.
42:22You and your partner will create two distinct runway looks using only bathroom tissue.
42:36Bathroom tissue?
42:37Oh, my God.
42:39Help.
42:40How is everybody stabilizing this material?
42:42What is happening in the back?
42:44This is all ripping.
42:49It just disintegrated.
42:50The seams fell apart.
42:51I'm starting over.
42:52Damn.
42:53Is this what's drying?
42:54Don't worry about it.
42:55I'm a little worried.
