The Olympic flame for the 2026 Winter Games, commonly known as the Milan-Cortina Olympic Winter Games, arrived in Rome on Thursday, marking the start of a series of torch relay events. The flame landed at Fiumicino Airport around 5 p.m. local time and was carried off the plane by Italian tennis stars and Milan-Cortina 2026 organizers. It will remain at the palace until the official lighting ceremony on Friday morning, attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry. More than 10,000 torchbearers from sports, culture, film, and civil society will participate in the relay. The Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026, across eight locations in northern Italy.
