00:00Christina Applegate is set to publish her first memoir.
00:05The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively announce that the actress will release the book titled
00:09You with the Sad Eyes in March 2026. Applegate first gained fame for her role on the beloved
00:151980 sitcom Married with Children. Though she's been in countless television shows and films since,
00:22the actress has kept many of her life's moments to herself until now. You with the Sad Eyes will
00:27cover Applegate's life and legacy, starting with her tumultuous childhood in Laurel Canyon in the
00:331970s, her earliest years on set, and the struggles that plagued her rise. The book will also address
00:39Applegate coming to terms with the repercussions of her 2021 multiple sclerosis diagnosis, as well
00:45as her search for her identity and joy in the face of the loss of her ability to act. She said,
00:50I decided to write this book when I was forced to slow down. I've had a career in TV and film since
00:56I was three years old, and I loved it. But with MS, all the things I thought were important shifted.
01:01For a long time, it felt impossible to find the meaning in everything I've been through.
01:05But for the first time in my life, I've been able to stop and reflect. Applegate continued,
01:10I've packed a lot into these 50-something years. It's scary, not gonna lie, to finally decide to tell
01:15it all. But no matter how dark it gets, I wrote this because I truly believe that books can make
01:20people feel less alone. I promise you with the sad eyes won't be some big violin scratching for my
01:25life, but it will be real. It will be filled with the ups and downs, the humor and grief of life.
