00:00That was the best gift I ever got.
00:04Happy 50th birthday, Jimmy Kimmel!
00:06On Monday night's episode of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live,
00:09big stars and pals of late-night hosts
00:11dropped by to wish him a happy birthday
00:13and poke some good-natured fun at him.
00:15My co-workers have been planning this for months.
00:17They keep giggling and whispering behind my back,
00:19Kimmel told the audience prior to the show's festivities.
00:22It made me think, this must be what it's like
00:24to be President Trump at the White House.
00:26First up, Ben Affleck, who appeared to promote Justice League,
00:29surprised Kimmel with a visit from J.J. Abrams,
00:31and the director presented a comic book
00:33Kimmel drew as a kid, dubbed The Terrific Ten.
00:36The characters, they really spoke to me,
00:37and they demanded to be brought to life,
00:39Abrams told Kimmel before introducing a trailer
00:41he created of the quirky comic book.
00:44Kimmel's original words narrated the clip,
00:46as Hollywood A-listers appeared dressed as the superheroes
00:48he created, including Muscle Man, played by Affleck,
00:52Zach Galifianakis as Super Duck,
00:54Shaquille O'Neal as Spy or God of Weapons,
00:56Jason Bateman as Ben Delight,
00:58Jon Hamm as Lucky Lad and Jennifer Aniston as Laser Lass.
01:02Laser Lass.
01:03I'm the lady one.
01:05In the faux trailer, the superstar superheroes prepare for battle,
01:08but they are surprised when they discover that the villain,
01:10Mr. Bolt, is none other than Kimmel's infamous arch-nemesis,
01:14Matt Damon.
01:15Eventually, the superheroes and villains begin bantering
01:17about their respective special abilities,
01:19which they realize aren't that great.
01:21We were created by a weird, sad kid who grew to later become a weird, fat man.
01:28Next up, Ray Romano oversaw a special birthday edition of mean tweets,
01:32with the tables turned as stars, including Kim Kardashian West, David Letterman,
01:36and Jon Stewart read harsh tweets written about the late-night host.
01:39Larry David had difficulty reading through his laughter.
01:42I forgot Jimmy Kimmel's name, so I googled ugly late-night show host.
01:50And David Letterman couldn't help but be the subject of his own mean tweet.
01:53Jimmy Kimmel is not funny, neither is David Letterman. I'd have to go along with both of those.
02:00George Clooney also joined in on the fun by narrating a retrospective of Kimmel's life titled,
02:0550, fierce and fabulous. The comedic reel introduced by Adam Sandler featured video recordings
02:10from Kimmel's childhood, photographs and interviews with Kimmel's friends and colleagues.
02:14Clooney joked of Kimmel's journey to becoming a late-night icon.
02:17Jimmy's infatuation with David Letterman was boundless and borderline psychotic.
02:22And now we will end as the tribute did. Here's to looking at the next 50 years, Jimmy.
