00:00A glorious moment for Taiwan, as a couple from Zhanghua County, Sylvia Zhao and Sam Yao win the title of world's best gelato in Italy this November, with their creation Luce Dulong.
00:20This was the first time a Taiwanese team secured the title, defeating 50 other competitors from around the world.
00:27Looking back at that moment, at the Sobreath International Artisan Gelato Festival now, Zhao says it was unexpected.
00:38He said, we took the first one, and I said, how would this happen?
00:42Then we were抱ing the two, and crying.
00:44So, if you saw the video, the teacher would come out of the same hand.
00:49He would take it out of the same hand.
00:51This frozen treat took the couple months to develop, from brainstorming the flavour, to picking the ingredients, and then producing and refining their creation.
01:03He said, we found that the red wine is very suitable for the product.
01:08Because it's a good taste, it's very delicious, it's not being used to have the milk.
01:16And it will have some果香.
01:18Because all the ingredients are not just we can聞 and see what we're doing.
01:21We even need to make all the ingredients, to make all the ingredients, to make all the ingredients.
01:25So, we can decide what we're doing to bring out.
01:28So that's when we think about the amount of water,
01:32the amount of water should be about 100 grams of water.
01:35Because if you want to eat it, you should know the taste is not enough,
01:39and you should be able to strengthen it.
01:40Zhao says their gelato stood out from the competitors,
01:44because they weren't afraid to experiment with new flavors.
01:48She adds that many Italians were wondering
01:51how they ended up losing to a team from Taiwan.
01:54The couple only started their business in Zhanghua's Lugang in 2018,
02:15with no prior experience in the industry,
02:18and just a few months of research and training behind them.
02:21They funded the shop with their own savings.
02:24That's when we decided to create a business.
02:26We decided to do something.
02:29Then we decided to do something.
02:31We decided to do a lot of water.
02:32Because the other food industry was pretty hard.
02:37But the last time, the water industry was more difficult.
02:40Because it was particularly difficult.
02:44First of all, the water industry has a high quality,
02:48and the equipment has a high quality,
02:50and the money has a high quality,
02:52and everything has a high quality.
02:53And when we came back to Lugang,
02:55they probably didn't have a good city.
02:58Despite the challenges, the couple still decided to go for it,
03:02as Lugang was Zhao's hometown.
03:04They expanded to Taichung this March to try and reach more people.
03:09Their hard work has paid off.
03:11Since winning the title, business has exploded,
03:15with up to 2,000 customers visiting their shops a day.
03:18It's a good taste.
03:20It's a good taste.
03:21It's a good taste.
03:22It's very sunny, and it makes it a little different.
03:25It's when I found out news and I know how to get here.
03:28And this is the second time I'm going to go.
03:31It's the first time I'm here.
03:33This is the most consistent red red wine.
03:36It's quite good and very good taste.
03:41I feel like the redrashe.
03:44And I have this one.
03:47Exactly this one.
03:49And he was still enjoying this.
03:51With the world's best gelato title under their belt,
03:55the couple will return to the Sir Beth International Artisan Gelato Festival next year.
04:00Not as competitors, but as judges.
04:03And they say they'll keep making gelato the same way,
04:06with passion, love for the craft, and a drive to create new flavors.
04:11Fu Hua Hong and Tani Chee for Tarn Plus.
