Suspended Cavite lawmaker arrives in Cebu to visit disaster victims
Suspended Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga arrives in Cebu on Dec. 4, 2025, to visit victims of the recent calamities here. He entered the lobby of the domestic terminal at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which was hosting the city’s ongoing tree lighting ceremony, where many greeted him, shook hands and took photos as he moved through the area. Barzaga is currently serving a 60-day suspension after the House of Representatives adopted the Ethics and Privileges Committee’s recommendation following a complaint filed against him. During an interview with media covering the tree lighting event, Barzaga said he would remain in Cebu only until Dec. 5, 2025. He expressed hopes of meeting with local officials who shared his political views, specifically mentioning Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, a known supporter of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
