– Aztecs, who thought the sun god Huitzilopochtli needed human hearts to live. – Hawaiians, who tried calming there volcano goddess Pele by tossing people into lava. – Incas, who sent kids up to see there mountain god Apu to freeze to death. – Maori, who sacrificed prisoners because “Tane doesn’t work for free.” – Khonds, who literally beat their annual sacrifice like a piñata for better crops.
