To effectively solo Nightmare IV (N4) with Thor in Marvel Rivals, a strategic approach focusing on crowd control (CC), survivability, and specific card synergies is crucial. While Blade is often cited for high damage output, Thor can be a viable option, particularly for his utility in managing large groups of enemies [1].
According to www.iAsk.Ai - Ask AI:
Thor's Role and Strategy
Thor's primary strength in N4, especially with his Awakening (Blue) form, lies in his Knockup Ultimate ability. This ability is invaluable for crowd controlling numerous small zombies and explosive/poison-throwing zombies, providing a significant advantage when the battlefield becomes overwhelmed [1]. The knockup duration is notably longer than typical stun or freeze effects, offering extended relief and control [1].
Key Abilities and Card Synergies
Awakening Thor (Blue) with Knockup Ult: This specific variant of Thor is essential for its crowd control capabilities. The strategy involves spamming the Ultimate ability on cooldown during intense moments to manage hordes of enemies [1].
Survivability Cards: To endure the high damage output in N4, especially during phases with area-of-effect (AoE) attacks from bosses like Wanda, Thor needs a strong focus on defensive stats. Prioritize cards that provide Lifesteal, Damage Reduction, and increased HP [1]. While Thor's damage output might not match Blade's, his ability to survive and control the battlefield makes him a valuable asset [1].
Damage Output (Secondary Focus): Although CC is Thor's main role, his boss damage can still be respectable. This is achieved by focusing on Right Click Awakening Cards and Headshot Multiplier cards [1]. These cards enhance his damage when not actively using his Ultimate for crowd control.
Gameplay Execution
During gameplay, the core loop for Thor involves:
Prioritizing crowd control with the Knockup Ultimate when large groups of enemies, particularly explosive or poison zombies, appear [1].
Sustaining through damage by relying on Lifesteal, Damage Reduction, and HP cards [1].
Contributing to boss damage with enhanced right-click attacks and headshots when the immediate threat of hordes is managed [1].
While other characters like Blade or Magik might achieve higher damage numbers, Thor's unique utility in N4 makes him a strong contender for solo play, particularly if the player can effectively manage his cooldowns and build for survivability

00:00Welcome back everyone, this is Nezuko with my Wrath of Asgard gameplay footage.
00:07I know it's kind of ridiculous to drop a guide a day before the event ends, but I'm just honestly happy that I completed the three that I wanted.
00:22I honestly don't have any interest in Blade or Punisher's title, but you know, Wrath of Asgard, Queen of Limbo, and King Landshark are amazing titles, so these are the three that I wanted.
00:34I'm not even a Magic or Thor player. I think I might be getting into Thor, though. Thor seems to be pretty solid, so.
00:41Anyways, what's going on here is I'm trying to get as many of these All Might Fathers as possible, because that's your main damage card.
00:50Now you can see my second roll, I just kind of got garbage, so.
00:55I'm going to go through this, you're going to buy Power Surges, you're going to buy Power Prolongation.
01:02That's what's going to keep your, what is it called, your, oh my god, I can't think of the attack.
01:10The one where, the attack where Thor shoots lightning.
01:12But yeah, Cranium Crusher is going to give you extra damage on headshots, so all those bosses will get melted.
01:22You want Vitality Boost, obviously, for a lot of hit points.
01:26But this is a very Vampiric Vitality.
01:29You need at least, I would say at least two of those.
01:33Some people swear you only need one, but that's if you get, like, exceptional damage.
01:37My damage is pretty good by the end, but it's not, like, the best.
01:43It's really kind of hard to get a great roll, great random roll with Thor, because his power card is like a, it's like an uncommon.
01:53It's five instead of ten.
01:55So, getting three of those for a 15 roll is not that great, you know, because that would normally cost you 15 anyway, as opposed to getting, um, as opposed to getting, like, three 10 cost cards for 15.
02:13Well, that's, that's a deal.
02:14So, you know, you saved, you saved half of your, your moon currency, or whatever the hell it's called, moon power.
02:22Um, anyways.
02:24Yeah, I know it's kind of stupid to put out a guide, like, uh, a day before the event ends.
02:28This is mostly just for me, to be honest.
02:31Very few people watch my channel.
02:32God bless you if you are one of the people that do.
02:35I love you.
02:36Um, but yeah, you know, my videos get, like, single, double digits of views, so this is mostly just, you know, for me, so I can, like, relive the moment, because I'm not a good magic, uh, I'm not a good Marvel Rivals player, and, uh, so when I pull off something I consider exceptional, I'm very, very proud of myself, so.
02:58You can see I'm really struggling.
02:59Um, um, Thor starts out very...
03:06Uh, weak, comparatively.
03:09You can get some fantastic random rolls with Jeff, and even Magic, uh, was, was doing, like, pretty respectable damage right off the, uh, the bat.
03:19Um, her biggest problem was her range, getting her range up so that she could comfortably, uh, kill, kill targets before they get too close.
03:29Thor's biggest problem is, uh, obviously his damage.
03:32I'm getting tapped a lot.
03:34I think I've already got a Vampiric Vitality, though.
03:38I think I did buy that, uh, so that's what's kind of keeping me in the game here.
03:42As you can see, the, uh, the mobs are just piling up.
03:44Uh, you just, you want to just keep moving backwards, but in a circle, so that you're not backing into the too many targets.
03:53Just prioritize the green and red zombies over the, uh, the, um, the bosses with the, the health bars there.
04:03Don't worry about them.
04:05They're, they're not going to be able to touch you because of your movement pattern anyway.
04:08It's these green mobs you gotta worry about because they're slow and they're not, they're not falling in, uh, line with the, uh, with the bosses.
04:18They're kind of just strewn about the map here.
04:20Man, they constantly are pumping out these.
04:26Oh, this is, this is dumb.
04:28I should, I shouldn't do that.
04:30You're really not going to use your, um, special abilities at all.
04:33Um, you just, you want to get your, your range, your damage, and your duration up.
04:40Full moons are good to buy because they always pay for themselves, especially early game.
04:45See, I wasn't sure about that.
04:47Vampire Fatality.
04:48I think I do end up buying it once I get enough points.
04:51But right now, I've only got like 80 seconds of, uh, duration.
04:54You want to get that up to about 200.
04:58200 seconds is, uh, what is that?
05:01That's like three minutes of combat.
05:04So if you can't get a level cleared at three minutes, you're probably going to die anyway.
05:09So.
05:12But you don't want to put too much into duration because you can always, like, late game,
05:17especially with, uh, one of the cards, I forget what it's called.
05:21It's not End Storm.
05:22It's the other, uh, blue rare.
05:24But, uh, yeah, you know, you can just turn it off, turn it right back on.
05:27So, because you're, you're getting, uh, what is it called?
05:32All Father Force?
05:33Thor Force?
05:34Odin Force?
05:35Odin Force, right?
05:36You're getting, uh, Odin Force while you, uh, are attacking anyway.
05:41So.
05:42You can literally just, like, turn it off, turn it right back on.
05:46Ah.
05:47See, right now I'm not, there's those little three hammers in the middle of my screen.
05:54I'm about to run out of Odin Force here.
05:57Or, not Odin Force, but this, whatever the hell this attack's called.
06:01You can, you can tell I don't play Thor.
06:03I don't know the names of any of this shit.
06:04But, you know, that should be encouraging, because if I can do it, and I'm a terrible Marvel Rivals player, if I can do this, then really anybody can do this.
06:16The key is to, you know, just have a little bit of lifesteal, keep moving around, keep jumping.
06:23I know I jump a lot more than, uh, you'll see some other people do that.
06:27But the reason I do that is to carry me out of the, uh, damage range of these AoEs, and, uh, later I do it because of, uh, Wanda's stuns.
06:37Because if you're standing, you're still in one place, and you get caught in that stun, um, you know, even when you get stunned, if you, what I'm saying is, like, if you get stunned and you're jumping, like, to the left or to the right,
06:49then your momentum will carry you out of that area of effect, out of that stun, or out of that green slime.
06:57Ah, so, yeah, you can tell, man, I'm really, really struggling here.
07:05But, by late game, you'll be, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how, how far his damage comes.
07:12He's one of those players, like, I noticed, like, when I was playing with Jeff, Jeff's biggest problem is that you can get a great start,
07:18and then the mobs just keep getting tougher and tougher, and your card purchases aren't really keeping up with that.
07:25And so, you start to get overwhelmed, whereas, like, I noticed with Magic and Thor, um, they, they start out weaker, but they end up getting much stronger by the end.
07:36So, I don't know if that's the, uh, the patch that went through, supposedly they made it easier for, uh, Jeff players to, to win.
07:45But, didn't seem to really change the end game that much.
07:52See how there's, like, a couple, you know, green zombies just, like, laying around?
07:57Yeah, see, I did, I did buy it.
07:59Yeah, restorative, respite, don't even worry about those, you're, you're just buying damage boost and damage reduction.
08:05It's that moonlight protection, or whatever it's called, that's going to reduce damage to you.
08:11You know, that's, that's just as important as, uh, buying life, if not more so, really.
08:16I'm just, I'm just trying to get through these first four rounds and get to Namor, uh, because you get that big, uh, hundred and something.
08:34A hundred, it's like a minute and a half purchase time.
08:37Um, you can actually think about your purchases a little more and you get, you know, a ton of points.
08:44Ugh.
08:48But yeah, thanks to the, um, the full moon, which gives you, like, bonus points when you purchase your cards.
08:55Um, you'll, you'll see, like, late game, I'm struggling, struggling to spend all my points.
09:02You know, I'm not just buying anything, I am trying to make smart purchases, but it's,
09:07there's so few things I need late game.
09:09Um, I would say Thor's, Thor's biggest problem, I noticed, what was getting me killed, a lot,
09:16excuse me, is that, um, his attacks don't really penetrate.
09:21It's not like magic, or magic was just literally hitting everything on the screen.
09:26Like, what you see is what you get here with Thor.
09:29So the problem is, when he's hitting those bosses, all those little mops behind him,
09:36behind, excuse me, all the little mobs, the smaller mobs, um, behind the zombie bosses are not really getting hit.
09:44Whereas, like, magic was hitting everything.
09:46And Jeff, you know, his joyful splash has great penetration.
09:50It goes through, um, that's such a great word too, penetration.
09:54Kind of love it.
09:55I get excited just saying it.
09:57But, um, the joyful splash, you know, his, his spit spray, it penetrates through, you know, dozens, dozens of mobs.
10:05You know, no problem.
10:06It's hitting everybody that's in front.
10:08But Thor, not so much.
10:10So, that makes him, um, getting damage even more, uh, important.
10:18Okay, let's see.
10:19There's your damage, your duration, health, damage, damage, speed, damage reduction, damage, health, damage, damage.
10:36I think I do buy a couple Zeus's Thunders.
10:39Oh, wow, look at that.
10:39Three All Might Fathers.
10:41All, all, all, whatever.
10:44All Father Might, whatever.
10:45I'm getting confused with My Hero Academia.
10:52I'm just, I'm buying everything.
10:53I've got plenty of, plenty of currency, plenty of time.
10:58I think I did kind of, um, underbuy, uh, hit points.
11:04Because I, you'll see, like, late game, I don't have a lot of hit points.
11:08And I'm kind of struggling a little bit.
11:10I think I, I stopped buying hit points a little early.
11:15Well, I didn't stop buying them completely.
11:17I switched to, uh, just the rares.
11:19And I let the smaller ones go.
11:21Which, you know, cost me in the end, so.
11:25But this match, oh my god.
11:27This match comes right after my last serious attempt.
11:31And y'all, it was heartbreaking.
11:33I, I went into it with 26 Aux.
11:37And during the Namor and Wanda fight, stage 15, level 15, they got me in the corner where
11:45you spawn.
11:46And I was respawning into stuns and bubbles.
11:51If I wasn't getting stunned by Wanda, I was getting bubbled by Namor.
11:55And then, of course, a stun was being dropped right below me.
11:59So I blew through at least 10 Aux, just trying to get out of that damn corner.
12:05It was relentless.
12:07Oh my god.
12:08That was heartbreaking.
12:09So I made it all the way to, uh, stage 20.
12:13The two Wandas.
12:14I died one more time, and that was it.
12:17That was all the currency I had.
12:18So because of that stupid Namor-Wanda fight, and getting stuck in the corner where you respawned.
12:25Yeah, I was toast, man.
12:27I was toast.
12:29So there's like a whole hour of my life I won't get back.
12:32It was so depressing.
12:34I just, so I would, I would recommend, if you're maybe not the best Marvel Rivals player,
12:40you know, very mid like I am, I would recommend going into, um, these fights with 30 of those
12:48bombs, which right now you're getting all that temporary currency.
12:51It's no big deal, uh, to buy those up.
12:55See how the bombs keep sneaking up on me?
12:58Oh, the, the last card, I forgot to mention, the last card that you really need to purchase
13:06is, um, oh my god, what's it called?
13:10Devouring Wrath or something?
13:11It's the one that actually makes your attacks wider.
13:15So instead of having, like, you know, so I've got a stream of three that come out of me.
13:22Um, yeah, you want to take as many of those as you can.
13:26Because you can always get in real close on the bosses, you know, it's like how I'm doing.
13:31I get in real close on the boss, and I'm trying to headshot him, you know, constantly.
13:36Oh my god.
13:37But yeah, you can tell you've got some low hit points when you get knocked down, and you're
13:44dead before you can, uh, start attacking again.
13:48That's when your hit points are too low, so I think that does happen.
13:52Let me one more time here.
13:53I'm not sure which is better.
13:57It seems like attacking all the squids like this does more damage, because I believe, and
14:03I'm not sure about this, but I believe that, um, killing his squids deals him damage as well.
14:11I believe that.
14:12I'm not 100% sure, though.
14:14I think I die here, right?
14:15Yep, I do.
14:16He's got literally, like, 200 hit points left, or the 700, I can't tell.
14:23I thought it was 200, but I don't have my glasses on.
14:29Yeah.
14:30So, you can see, man, the struggle's real, but, you know, now I've got a little time, I'm
14:35gonna buy him some more damage boost, some more duration.
14:40I stopped buying duration at a certain point, because, like I said, you really don't need
14:45more than 200 seconds.
14:47A lot of these guys are saying 300.
14:49I never found it to be a big issue, so.
14:54I think 200's more than enough.
14:57Especially when you're dealing crazy damage, so.
15:01Like I said, if you're not getting the round cleared in three minutes, then you're not gonna
15:08kill Wanda in time.
15:10It's just that simple.
15:11But, yeah, the, the, the, how I noticed that Thor has, like, a penetration problem with
15:19his attacks is when I was attacking, you know, Wanda, and she's doing the crystals, and you
15:25gotta break the crystals, and, uh, and kill her within a certain time period.
15:29When I was doing that, like, normally, with Jeff and with magic, I can kill the crystals
15:36through her, like, if the crystal's behind her, I can just shoot her in the direction
15:41of the crystal, and it'll shatter, you know.
15:46But with Thor, you actually have to move around her.
15:50If she's blocking the crystal, you've gotta, like, move around her to get to that crystal.
15:56Which is really kind of unfortunate.
15:58Because you'll, you'll think, oh, I've got them lined up, no problem.
16:01But if, if the crystal's behind her, it's really hard to hit it.
16:05But, anyways, you know, that's about it.
16:20I think I can probably bow out at this point.
16:23Um, if somebody would be so kind, uh, to put some timestamps, that would be super awesome.
16:31I'll pin your comment.
16:32But, if you could put timestamps for when the, uh, the major hard purchases are,
16:38like the end of, uh, round 4, round 9, round 14, round 19.
16:45You know, the end of those rounds, when you've got, um, time to make big purchases,
16:50some timestamps for that would probably be most useful, I think, to other viewers.
16:54But, then again, it probably doesn't matter at this point.
16:57Like I said, there's, there's only one day left on the event.
16:59So, I really, really hope they bring it back next year.
17:02I'm sure they will.
17:04Uh, I'm almost certain they will.
17:06Probably with different characters.
17:08Or at least add to the roster.
17:10Like, you know, do 4 or 5 more characters each year.
17:13And just bring the, the event back.
17:15Maybe different bosses or something.
17:17Just to, to keep it fresh.
17:19You know, because you do have, uh, 1, 2, 3, 4.
17:22You know, you've got 4 boss events, and 2 of them are just repeats.
17:26So, you know, you could do, like, Namor, Wanda, and then, like, 2 other bosses.
17:322 different bosses, you know.
17:36But, yeah.
17:37You don't need to listen to me talking all the way through this.
17:40I'm sure just about everybody's checked out anyway.
17:42So, just enjoy the rest of the footage.
17:46Um, you can, you can tell I'm starting to get a lot more damaging.
17:50And by the end, it, it does become quite impressive.
17:54But, um, by no means easy.
17:57This, this, um, a lot of people say, oh, the Thor, the Thor run is super easy.
18:02I found it, uh, pretty challenging.
18:05Not as challenging as Jeff, but more challenging than Magic.
18:09And, uh, perhaps more challenging than Punisher.
18:14Though, I haven't, I haven't really.
18:16I did, I did a couple runs as Punisher.
18:18And I was just like, eh, this wasn't really feeling it.
18:21Um, and I just, like I said, I'm not interested in this title.
18:26So, that really kind of takes the, uh, the wind out of your sails.
18:30There's no motivation, you know.
18:32So, listen, y'all.
18:33Thank you so much for watching.
18:37Enjoyed the rest of the video.
18:38And, uh, and please, you know, use some of that temporary currency.
18:43And get you these titles.
18:44You know, especially the Thor, the Magic, and the Jeff titles.
18:48They're, they're the best.
18:49By far.
18:50But if you disagree, let me know in the comments.
18:52You know, if you, if you prefer the Punisher and Blade titles, let me know.
18:57You know, my personal favorites are just these three.
18:59The Jeff, the Magic, and the Thor.
19:01So, anyways.
19:03I've done enough talking.
19:04I'm losing my voices.
19:06My voices?
19:07I have backup voices.
19:09I'm losing my voice, though, in these, like, long-ass videos.
19:12So, um, I'm gonna go.
19:14Y'all have a great day.
19:15Stay blessed.
19:16And, uh, good luck to you.
19:18Okay?
19:18Bye.
19:19Bye.
19:20Bye.
19:31I'm pressing.
19:32But can you repeat your success?
19:35Let's go.
20:05Let's go.
20:35Let's go.
21:05Let's go.
21:35Let's go.
22:05Let's go.
22:35Let's go.
23:05Let's go.
23:35Let's go.
24:05Let's go.
24:35Let's go.
25:05Let's go.
25:35Let's go.
26:05Let's go.
26:35Let's go.
27:05Let's go.
27:35Let's go.
28:05Let's go.
28:35Let's go.
