In a heartwarming gesture ahead of her 100th birthday, Dr Lakshmi Bai, a renowned gynecologist from Berhampur, has donated her entire life savings of Rs 3.4 crore to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The retired doctor, who belonged to the first MBBS batch of SCB Medical College, Cuttack, stated: 'In Odisha, we don't have the treatment for cancer, so that's why I gave this money.' Dr Lakshmi Bai, who completed her MD from Madras Medical College in 1958 and retired from government service in 1986, aims to support underprivileged women cancer patients with this contribution.
